The mob that you have to kill for the werewolf talon in Mistmoore spawns at level 29-30, and you have to fight your way in to find her. There is no way a level 25 does this alone. A group of 25's would probably even fail before they got to her. You'd be fighting reds all the way and with level and era appropriate gear, they would be much harder fights than using someone else's hand me downs from later expansions.

You're right. 3 rubies costs 400pp if you have to buy them and the lowest level mobs that drop rubies are 45+, with some of them being 65+. This bp isn't worth 400pp or the effort that it takes to get the rubies for free. Even when this quest was new, it was questionable whether it was worth it because of the time it would take to save up 400pp, and leveling up to fight the mobs that drop the rubies was a lot harder with era appropriate gear. You might have been better off with the second or third best armor in the game, waiting for the next expansion to go live, then looking for something better there.

Well I've been workin on gear for my Ogre warrior... obviously Crafted was the blatant choice for a BP... I figured I'd go do the quest and I have actually managed toloot a talon off a werewolf in MM... got lucky but ya know what? Who the heck would want one of these when you can use a Ry'gorr I know I know the AC but to me 10 STR is worth it... I hit at least 2 dmg extra on each hit with my Ry'gorr Battle Mail and it cost me less then the 3 rubies for this thing would with my charisma.
The new Lucin graphic for plate breastplates (including Warrior crafted, Fine Plate, and Chiton Protectors, etc.) is just plain UGLY!
The old look was MUCH better! Please! Now Banded tunics looks better than my warrior crafted BP!
Before and after shots of Crafted BP on a hafling: http://www.worlddomination.net/eqteam/gallery/?image=140 (new is on the right)

Please put some detailing onto the BP graphic so it doesn't look like a baggy saggy old sweatshirt! The new BPs look like Dr. Zoiberg (from Futurama)'s lobster shell. It is especially horrible on a hafling. Very wierd shaped and no detail, etching, etc. at all on it. Where did my womanly shape go?
The crafted shoulders, gloves, boots, all look good.
All of the other new mob, face, clothing graphics (especially ROBES!) look AWESOME, keep up the good work. My Erudite Wizardess is especially pleased.
But please please revisit the plate BP look ASAP. I think Warriors (and others who wear plate) got the short end of the stick here, and I am guessing I'm not alone in prefering the old look (very nice scrollwork on the BP) to the new look (baggy sweatshirt).
Please post on the official everquest developers board if you would like to see this graphic improved. The web address is http://boards.station.sony.com/ubb/everquest/cgi-bin/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&forum=Developer|APO|s+Corner&number=1&DaysPrune=20&LastLogin=

Have you watched anger management recently? The original poster of this message did appear to be emphatic.... but I wouldn't go nearly so far as to say she was pissed. Feedback to the EQ team telling them their design implimentation of a feature lacked desired detail is a good thing... it lets them know that someone out there cares, and so the issue may be worth addressing. While quite emphatic, you'll notice the original poster did not flame in any manner, or slander... and went so far as to comment that the graphics on her other chars looks great to difuse any ill-feelings which might be seen from reading the negative feedback.
The reason it is reasonable to ask the EQ development team to improve the luclin graphics instead of just reverting to the original graphics is that A) She's a chick.... she wants OTHER PPL to look at her and think she looks cool. Most ppl don't have the old graphics on anymore. (For that matter, I'm a guy, and like it when I look cool to other players) B) Many other classes got upgrades to the look. The caster robes look awsome now as she stated; where before they looked cool. It is reasonable to desire that the equipment for all classes gets a similar upgrade.
Anyway, that post (by me) was mostly useless, but maybe it will shed a new light on the way you read the original post, and others along those lines.
They usually do accessability according to the lowest level mobs present in zone. In this case it would be Ssynthi at about 18, then pledges at 19-21, so I don't know, but werewolves and gypsy musicians, the mobs that drop these are usually 28-30, if I'm not mistaken. Although, you're right... You can't really get to them unless you're ~40-45 solo, or in a mid 30's group.
A well balanced, and organized team w/ good CC should be able to take this mob out. Getting there would be a lot of work.. and single-pulls would be key for much of it... but it's doable. (You know your in a well balanced group when your constantly pulling reds, and it's a breeze for everyone :-) That being said, I would like to see the lvl to obtain set a bit closer to what is more common.... a group w/ mediochre crowd control w/ at least 1-4 players in the group who suck at playing their chars. (I just wish that 1-4 wasn't usually the cleric & the chanter -g-) Of course, once you get to lvl 50+, it becomes 1-3 in a group that don't know how to play their characters :-) (Still usually the chanter or cleric.... FYI, clerics AREN'T tanks... oom doesn't mean run into the swarm of mobs swinging to up the dps)
My guild organized a smallish raid last night, which consisted of me (40 warrior), 42 warrior, 46 druid, 36 druid, 37 pally (after granite & cauldrons), and 31 wizzie.
We went in invis as far as the Entry Hall, and the 46 druid harmony-pulled to us there. Worked like a charm (except for the twice that we got badly trained - make those /shout Train hotkeys, people! - and after 3 hours we'd gotten 1 talon, 5 granites and 1 cauldron.
It can be done with a lower-level group than we were, as long as communication is good, you have a plan for adds, and someone with evac memmed if things get ugly :>
Hey, Im on the Solsek (SP?) Ro server, the names Sanroth, Im in Lake of Ill Oman at the time and Im gonna stay there till im at least 30. I was wondering if anyone was selling this bp? I have about 700pp-???pp so I was wondering if anyone is trying to get rid of one, if you could send me a tell b4 /auc... thanks
depends on how much money you have made :) Barbed Chainmail (i think) is very nice and looks good and otherwise you can go for cobalt if you are overloaded with cash :) When inspecting warriors in Dreadlands and Karnors Castle i usually find that most still have at least a couple of crafted pieces and that they have traded their BPs for something better (like treeweave or fungi tunic although fungi maybe not so good any more, i dont know :)
#Anonymous,
Posted:May 29 2001 at 2:59 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I'm a level 30 warrior on the veeshan server and really want to go after this and all the other crafted armor peices if anyone wants to join me send me a tell.
At 38 I'm unable to solo it, and I couldn't even find a group to get in to camp the room. The zone is full of farmers and none were willing to help me get the talon. I ended up having to buy it, but I held out til I found it for cheap (200pp). Good luck getting it.
its fun to come into these specific message boards and see the misknowmers people think. Being a 46 ranger it was a simple task to take on the gypsies. As long as you take them on one at a time, it is really no problem. Camped butler and maid room solo for hours without trouble. etc etc... I just really wanted to get this point across though. Werewolves DO drop the werewolf talon. Gypsies also drop it. Finally, the talon is no drop.
Getting the Talon requires either friends, a guild raid, or luck.
When my guild raided MM on the Xegony server about a month ago we went in VERY deep and camped the place for 4 game days. No talons.
One of my other characters found a guild mate who said "Get 3 rubies and get me a ride to NK and i will give you the BP". Nice person she is.... i'm about 100p of the third ruby but hope to fix that tonight.
As far as luck.. hope someone has one to sell or one they just dont want..
Uh, my guild raided in Mistmoore this week and after a few hours anyone that wanted a werewolf talon had one. We got more to drop and just left them to rot.
You need a good tank, healer, nuker, enchanter makes it easy. the head gypies can charm though. that makes it hard. A small mid 30's group can do it, ok. Unless someone gets charmed. We were there for an hour and 4 talons dropped 1 lute. Not bad for an hour. When they turned into werewolfs at night, all dropped talons.
Recently, the guild of which I am a member did a raid on MM, to collect cauldrons and granite for our Pallys, and there were about 15-18 of us there, ranging from level 25 to level 51.
I was just there for fun, since I was a 25 wizard, and was only able to hit 5% of the mobs. I would agree that a group of 25th level characters would be hard pressed to survive alone. While there, I was able to loot a talon because no one else in my guild wanted it, so I figured I would grab it and get the BP myself, and then sell it, or start a warrior and transfer it.
I am part of a small guild and we have recently been rading MM. To those people that say they went to MM and got a talon with 3-5 peeps, props i guess but i have no clue how you can camp in MM and get the talons. They are inside of of the castle and even at lvl 38 some mobs were red to me. (oh and even thought MM is filled with DEs, doesnt mean they like other DEs.. They don't). Now my guild was camping the ballroom (14 people in all ranging from lvl 25- 42, and we pulled from the surrounding rooms. We have dont this raid 2 times so far for about 6 hrs total and walked away with 5 talons, 3 lutes, and a bunch of other junk.
MM is a hard zone, so be ready for it. I have no clue how a group or less then 12 with no one 34+ helping them could do the castle of MM. I wouldnt want to to MM with less then this.
I dont have a stragety for camping and pulling except having a good number of peeps bc the pulls can bring 2-8 mobs at once.
