Fungi
# Mar 05 2002 at 5:03 PM Rating: Default
Yeah, the 'original' Fungi was heavily nerfed...I have not seen it drop on Brell Serilis in a few weeks myself (my guild camps it all the time). I wonder if it has been permanently replaced with one in Luclin, which you have to be lev 51 and above to use...
Question
# Mar 02 2002 at 1:09 PM Rating: Default
What level do you have to be in order to use the fungal regrwoth ability?
No Cat Warrior
# Feb 21 2002 at 5:56 PM Rating: Default
I looked at the picture above and saw RACE: All.

Big mistake.

I bought one for 24k and I can't use it on my cat warrior. I am TOTALLY bummed. It makes no sense whatsoever.

# Feb 27 2002 at 11:51 PM Rating: Default
ya, sucks, this picture was taken pre-luclin so Vah Shir wasn't even a race then, why they would make this all races but Vah Shir confuses me...

but on the other side, why be bummed, 24k is way low for fungi (at least on my server, Seventh Hammer) just sell it for more and buy something with the extra 5-15k profit you get hehe

I think there is a Fungi Tunic like drop in Fungus Grove. I am pretty sure it drops from the Caller quest and is Vah usable. I'm not sure what it is called. Maybe someone can post on that drop.

The Fungas Patch Vest. Minimum lvl 51 to use, and you have to fight through five waves of spawns and pray the final spawn, a named mushroom, drops the vest. Assuming, of course, you survive, and I've read reports from more than one uber guild that they all died trying to do all five waves of mushrooms. Then pray some more you roll and win. If the goal is to keep cat warriors from being twinked, what difference is that than any other warrior from being twinked? It makes no sense to not allow the Fungi Tunic on the cat warrior.
since nerf..

So the drop rate has dropped, i heard that it hasn't even dropped once in the past 2 weeks. Anyone contradict this rumor?
Zeb's prices are at a firm 35k. Saw one or two for 40k on auctions. Mostly there are 100 people WTB fungi.
reduced

The drop rate of this has been reduced in a patch not too long ago. Prices going back up to around 40k on Povar

I'm a Druid who originally got this item for my Ranger Alt. Thought I'd try it on for a few moments. LOL now I'll never take it off. The negative stats don't really hurt me as a Druid. I am level 36 who is now soloing Giant Verdants in Burning Woods (red/yellow to me) I cannot tell you how many times this tunic has kept me alive long enough to cast a root and med up enough to kill my prey.
GM event
# Feb 09 2002 at 10:58 AM Rating: Default

Solo

To those people who say you can't solo past 30 with this item. Have you ever tried? I was lucky enough to be given this item at 30 (I'm a warrior)By a high level friend who was leaving the game to pastures new. I am now level 45 and still use this item for solo purposes, it's great for exp and have flown from 30 - 45 in very little time realy. I pick my mobs carefully for exp Vs damage output. The Zelniaks and large Zelniaks in Dawnshroud peaks Proved fantastic exp from 35 till 43 arond half a blue bub per kill, and I still bash away at the darkblue cons there and can leave one fight and head straight into another, only having to have a med break every 8-10 kills, So try it out next time, pick your kills, cougars will do you from 30, Zelniaks and large Zelniaks from 35. I am now finaly cathing up with friends who were previously 20 levels higher than me ( down to about 5 levels diference )

That's BS.. They are worthless and weak. I soloed past 40 with my Half-Elf Warrior and a Iksar BP. It's not the fastest regen in the world, but it's adequate enough. Of course, you have to stick with blues, as it only really reduces downtime.. but I doubt there's many other classes soloing White con and higher at 40+
RE: Solo
# Mar 02 2002 at 1:44 AM Rating: Decent
All depends on your class. When I first started the game I made an Iksar Monk as my first character and he's still my main. A friend from another game got me started and gave me 2 fighting baton's to get me started. As a monk (an iksar with better regen at that) I pretty much have soloed my whole EQ life, now lvl 57, grouped here and there every now and then when I was getting bored or lonely or whatever and I didn't even get one of these till I was lvl 54. But anyways to my point, I made a rogue one day because I had a lot of rogue gear and some good weapons. So I bought some extra good gear for him and had a friend transfer my fungi to him and soloed very easy and lvled very fast to lvl 30. Now he's 31 and it's getting very hard to solo. I usually end the fight with hardly any life. Now compared to another friend, 54 SK, who's friend gave him a FBSS and Fungi tunic when he left the game, made a monk, threw the fungi/fbss on him and lvled from 1 to 50 VERY fast. So basically to sum it all up, it's all about your class =p.

By their nature Monks get hit less than Rogues that combined with the Iksar and fungi regen are gonna reduce the down time dramatically.
i am dissapointed
# Feb 07 2002 at 12:10 AM Rating: Decent
First i wan't to declare it official newb season, as i am a newb about to paint my backside red and run naked in the woods as i rant about my personal opinoin.

Now to the jucy stuff!! I have spent probably the past hour reading some rather lame posts about how class specific this item is. And all though it may have some slightly inhibitive stats, such as negative agi, and dex, as well as a rather low ac(in the eyes of a warrior), this BP has some of the most friggen awsome regen in the game, which thus makes it valulable to all classes. Any class can solo perpetualy with one of these as long as they pick up a sow, all they have to do is fight a bit and when hp runs low just run a bit and gain hp back. Granted some mobs can out run ya even with a sow, so don't solo those mobs.
A fellow earlier stated the idea of why not just carry the bp around in a bag and wear your usual uber chest item,(i assume that you have an alternative uber item to use because of the mass sums of money it takes to buy the fugnus, or your of high enough lvl to attain it yourslef)and when your hp runs low, or just gets down to half, you pop this sucker on and heal a bit. ya know as sort of a down-time eliminator.
Now if we had to select the perfect class for this tunic, and soloing was in mind it would probably be some druid. Not some lasy monk who FD's and naps when things get hairy. The Druid would be able to pull the old kite technique, makeing it possible for even a rather inexperiance druid to triple or even quade kite.
in short hp is for everyone and all class race combos that verant has deemed able to use it, and they should all be equaly allowed to get this.
This is where i pick my fight, if ya'll are looking for someone to harrang let it be me cause i just shot a load of biblical proportions. so i challenge you flamers to bring your worst, but pleas wear a good suit.(i.e. don't critique me on my spelling and grammer, i know i type like a kindergardner, make your flame something thick and juicy, real mean and rotten stuff.)
so it is with great anticipation that i await your flamings and inhospitable rants.

the rotten kid

P.S. if you intend to butcher me for waisting my time just sitting here reading and writing this drivle, let me ask you this. try and play a game that focuses on your attention to detail. Now find a friend with a hard head and break your nose on it,(what i did), now go in for corective surgery and spend the next week recovering while taking vicadin, and vicoril.(only a stoner would deny that vicadin, and vicoril slows the mental process), now play that same game, don't quit work does it? whew i must be tired cause now i am flaming the flamers.

No one will disagree that this is a GREAT item for all that can use it. It give the ability to solo for most who can use it.

Now if you can afford to twink with it, then pick your class as you like, but most people can NOT afford this kind of high end stuff to twink with.

That leaves us to consider who can and will use it on a regular basis. For monks and shamans this gives a significant boost in power both in a group and solo setting, while for anyone else it is just nice to have (not taking druids and clerics hunting old world zones with a manastone into account).

It comes down to who is willing to pay what, or in a guild, who gets the most benefit of it.
RE: i am dissapointed
# Feb 07 2002 at 4:37 AM Rating: Default
well... you are rigth that every class can solo with this up to level30. but then your idea of running away and regen just doesnt work. mobs begin to hit so hard that you would spend more time running and getting those hp back then actually fighting, and there isnt always the room to run.
monks use it for the excellent ac and weight, shamans use it for cannibalize. other classes better sell the tunic and get some upgrades somewhere else.

acid youre nuts.... as a warrior i could solo up to around 46 with a fungi... thats when its regen is only good for downtime... mobs just hit too hard then... but 30.... plz if a 30 mob is hitting to hard go back to newbie yard and take on somthing more your size, and maybe get some rawhide armor to improve ur ac... in cc i was soloing things blue to black (i was mid to high 30's to 40 and had barley any down time) but at 51 it would be in my bag until the fight was over (if i hadnt sold it)when i pay off my debt to a guildy ill be payin/trading for a thurg bp... 90 pt right click heal is better then this imho at least for downtime(since this became ultra rare prices have skyrocketed ridiculously)

15hp / tick standing.
17hp / tick sitting

also...

the reason vah shirs or beastlords can't wear it, is because VI didn't want a million Cats running around with these PL'ing their selves. good idea actually
