Actually rapiers weren't origionally made for slashing or piercing, but were for parrying a thrust. the sword itself wasn't really a weapon at all, until a fencing expert started practicing with it.

Well yes they are stabbing impliments but they DO have sharp edges, y would you limit a weapon to jsut stabbing, they used a rapier as a all perpose weapon it wasnt a spear it was a sword type the best representation of it in the game is ( well ofcourse the Sting of Betrayal now but wasnt around before) the black acrylia rapier it shows how it is a slashing and peircingweapon but it has always beena thrusting sword
Well I just got this tonight... and I must say when Swarm (Charm) kiting.. you ONLY need CHA..and Dex....everything else is not good.. if you say you need to heal a bit.. then the epic is good for that.. unless you feel like swapping out.. But.. this item rocks for AE mana regen for people.. and as faar as your dots go.. If I am stacking 4 dots.. each hit for 134.. that IS the way to go.. you would be using your DotB and Epic for that.. Just my two cents.. was using Keen Edge cleaver which gives more HPs.. but overall this is better for the Mod to stringed... just wish it would have a bit more hps..
When you are swarm kiting, Flowing Thought type effects are key as well.
While the charm spell costs minor amounts of mana, the drain on a bard's manapool adds up over time without sufficient regeneration capabilities (keep in mind bards only get natural/FT type mana regeneration) time, making extended swarm kiting a problem without.
Instead of putting a .. why not put , and .? I just felt like reminding you that those are available to you at all times of day and night. I don't mean to be rude.. but.. maybe you should.. you know.. use them a little more..
Nice thing is, when a bard is kiting (+ mana/charis/dext is great) sometimes you get in a spot where you take more damage than you would like. I have even had to switch in my Lute of the Howler to get the modifer for that extra health boost while you are waiting for charm to break.
With DotB (or Karana's) in one hand and this in the other, there would be very few reasons to instrument swap. Might even be tempted to try a three AE DoT kite again....probably not, but I might.
LOL. Verant has *never* been good at making 'appropriate' stats mods on items, based on the name. Things like a rotting gorilla hide helmet with no negative CHA adjustment, etc.
I mean, seriously, if you put a "rotting gorilla" WHATEVER on your head, it should have at least a -20 to CHA, at least!
now, i dont know a whole lotta bout bards, so this post is a question, so no flaming, but i was under the impression bards dont really need mana. i heard there are a few songs that use mana, but over all its not a big deal for bards. when a bard gets higher up, does his songs start using more mana? and if so, is a bards mana a BIG deal suchs as a true casters would be, or is it more like a hybrids mana?
Every since PoP was released, mana became very important to bards. Our charm song uses mana and our AA ability Fading Memory uses 900mana each time used. Fading memory is basically a form of feign dead for us to get rid of aggro. We also do not get the benefit of spell/song mana regen and must rely on flowing thought items and mental clarity AA.
