Armor Color
# Nov 17 2003 at 8:32 PM Rating: Decent
Pretty much have all the pieces now, just working on the boots.

Problem is I dyed my armor some time ago and now really want the "Knight in Shining Armor" look.

Anyone know the numbers I need to put in to get the Ro armor back to normal ?

Thanks

white is the other end of the scale: 255, 255, 255. However you may have trouble getting it back to 255. When clicking on white, EQ resets it to 240, 240, 240. Instead enter the numbers manually to get around that.

I know its an old post, but people do still trawl through the posts for info :).

Well, ro is better, but so minutely so it is not worth mentioning. However, you HAVE the ro already, so unless you can get good money for it, why bother switching.

On the other hand, if you can sell the ro for 300 or so, and buy a neth chitin for 25, you can upgrade some other slots with the difference, and more than make up for the 2 str.
Garbage

Netherbian Chitin
ac20 str2 fire10 goes for like 25pp in the bazaar, it drops everytime of the netherbian leader in NL. Is it worth 2 less STR not to hassle with this outdated BP? Just go nab, or buy a netherbian chitin

I did nothing but Ro armor quests back when 45 was a hell level. You can buy most quest parts (plans, heads, etc) or track South Ro and Lake Rathe for them for pennies and net huge XP.

I did level 45 hell level with nothing but Ro armor XP.

The factioning is a pain in the keister, but if you bother to do it you can make good XP.

this is like Jedi vs dark jedi you really can't tell who is better but the nobleness of a pally would more then likly lose to a the underhandedness of a sk with his pet and snare/dots and LT's and stuff lol weeeeeeeeeeeee

Pally would win no questions. I have resisted HT in duels but you cant interrupt LoH. Course one of the best tools in a deul is Flash of light and I'm pretty sure SKs get something like it so it's always an interesting fight =) BTW is that Lyger name a reference to Zoids?

Crusty or Ro?
# Jun 13 2002 at 8:36 PM Rating: Decent
I recently told a friend that i was trying to complete the Ro armor quest, and she told me that the Crusty set is far better. I wasn't so sure since i'm looking for something low weight and i don't wanna sacrifice the dex, plus the quest(though really tough) is something i can complete at the 35th lvl with some help. Anything is better than my Bronze right now! Anyone wanna comment?

Crusty is better stats for the bp, won't lose noticeable AC and has VERY nice hp turn out with the 15sta. The only downside (compared to Bp of Ro) is that it is ugly. It certainly doesn't go with the paladin "role" either. Would you ever picture a brave hero rescuing persons while wearing something covered in barnacles and stinking of fish?

LOL come on man, looks isnt the protection, i mean come on no ones exactly gonna send a petition to the fasion GM are they? i finaly got rid of all my crusty a few lcls ago (still had a crusty bracer on me) now i got deepwater arms/head/wrist and feet for ac, also got Imbued field plate chestplate (or some crap like that) which is a nice ac combo, looks decent too with mithril greaves. but anywayz, i think if your skills are low, then lowering your DEX aint gonna help cap them, but both sets of armour are very nice for the 30s

RE: CP of the Dark Flame
# Apr 20 2002 at 1:52 AM Rating: Decent
Except that it is a way cooler breastplate to have (name and its dark black), exemplifies the nature of the paladin as an undead hunter, and doesn't require you to kill cute little fairies. The only time I wear my bp of ro is for raids requiring fire resist, e.g. Nagy. Other than that I wear my chestplate of the Dark Flame and do my best to scare the crap out of undead.
Finally
# Dec 01 2001 at 2:00 AM Rating: Excellent
Woot...sorta...Finally completed my first Ro armor quest at level 41 and it was for the breastplate. The quest is a major hassle for a small return, but hopefully (I can pray) sometime in the future us paladins that worked so hard on this quest will receive the TRUE benefit to completing this quest; one can only hope. Yeah, yadda, yadda, I can say I completed the quest. But truely, this quest is not so much heroic, as it is a pain in the ***. Still, you do get almost two blue bulbs of experience at lvl 41 when you turn in the MM cook's cauldrons; not bad. Perhaps, Verant could be convince to at least make this armor look unique. Then it would become a good conversation piece at social gatherings. Such as "Let me tell you of the quest that I began at 32 and didn't finish til 42"....instead of..."I went to Rathe mountains and all I got was this stinkin breastplate that looks just like fine plate."

I'm already eyeing that deepwater armor...

LMAO So true. I have collected about 4 of each important piece, Melatite, Sands, and Granite. I have the DW Gaunts at 34 and so I don't think I'll be wasting 200pp on Enchanted Plat for Ro Gaunts. My hope is that I complete the quests for the Helm, BP, Greeves, and Vambraces before it's time for Velious Armor. 8)

It depends on your current AGI really, as to which would be better. At lvl 55, a 15agi spell gives me a whopping 4ac (because my unbuffed agi is already 130). But if your agi is low, especially if its below 75, Mith will get you more ac. If you have over 100agi, go for the Ro BP.

ok frist off do not flame me ( yes i am not a pally) i have been look for something better then FP for a pally in my guild ( wish he was a dwarf then he could get dusty BP almost as good a crafted Bp ) so we where talking and he said that his armor was not half as good as crafted and 10 time harder to get so i wanted to know how hard is it could a 31 pally and a 30 war dwarf and maybe a 30 druid do it?
RE: hmmmmmm he was right

I am working on the Ro Armor set at the moment. I am in the 30th season and started with the Ro Armor quests at Level 25. The first thing you have to do is raise the factions with two important Communities.

First, with the Clerics of Underfoot, the Paladin/Cleric Guild of Kaladim. You need highly amiable faction to get the Soil of Underfoot you need for making Ronium. I am a Half Elf from Freeport so I had to work my way up from indifferent. Your friend is a dwarf, so this shouldn't be a problem I guess.

Second, you need amiable faction with the Temple of Solusek Ro to get the Sol Cauldron from Lord Seafire in which you make the Ronium. You can go and kill Shadowed Men for the Faction, but that was quite hard for me. But you can give the named orc in the NW Corner of South Ro cutthroat rings for faction as well. (Don't remember exactly how much, but you can look that up in the quest list for South Ro)

Now you have the right factions to make Ronium. The quest states what is needed for it. The four pixie dusts are the easiest to get. With your group, Mistmoore Granite will be the hardest part I guess. Sand of Ro and Melatite are hard too though.

When you have the Ronium, you need of course the mold from the Paladin Camp in Rathe Mountains. Every Paladin Guild of Norrath has a Member there, and every one hands out a different mold. And of course you need high amiable faction with the one you want to have the mold from. (Hail the Paladin, if he/she gives you the quest, your faction is high enough) And the items you have to hand over to get the mold are tough to get too. For the breastplate these are 2 dark cauldrons from the cooks deep inside Mistmoore Castle. Good Luck on this one. I had a 60 Druid help me and thank Mithaniel Marr to this day that I made this lucky encounter.

To make it short, the Ro Armor quests are hard as hell. And there is better armor that can be purchased when you invest the time you would quest in hunting and earning money.

But it should be an honor for every Paladin to wear Ro Armor. You see a lot of Norrath while travelling and meet a lot of nice people who will help you if you ask nicely. Although I died very often on my trips, I would not want to miss a second. I like questing more than the boring slashing, looting, selling, banking, back to slashing. Just my thoughts.

Safe travels, my friends

The Age Old Argument
# Aug 15 2001 at 7:39 AM Rating: Good
Ignorant and self centered people....
Unfortunately it's not only going on between Paladins and ShadowKnights, EQ is a haven for the unwashed, and when you look around, there's a million people out there who tell you that they're class is the best, and they even have reasons to tell you that you suck.

Well, with that said, I am a Paladin. I love the lifestyle, I love my purpose, and I love roleplaying her. I hold respect for any Paladin, and any hybrid for that matter to climb their way to the top, since all of them are constantly bombarded by other classes with insults. But the age old argument is the SK vs The Pally.

I'm now level 32, I've dueled plenty of SKs, I've won many duels, I've lost many. But the thing is, every fight's outcome is always nearly even and VERY close. It is in no way a one sided fight, with the SK built to be completely offensive, and the Paladin made to be defensive. The pet is like a Paladin's yaulp. Good for only a few seconds, if a Paladin even looks at the SK pet, it dies. The paladin's yaulp is only a small boost of strength for a few moments, nothing compared to the DoTs a SK lays down on you. The similarities go on. I'd really rather put this to rest, because my ignore list is full. But let's face it, for every good person you meet on EQ, there's a million more who just want to put you down. :(

I agree with everything and more, each class can be better than the others depending on how they are played. I personally like the paladin and the Shaman. I have tried most of the others and like these the best(guess I understand how to play them better than the other classes)

I've never dueled and really don't see a point in it?

Re: Pallies Vs SK's
# Aug 03 2001 at 10:36 AM Rating: Default
Aye, indeed you did assume that every DoT the SK casted was not resisted. You also assume that the SK CAN run. If he is rooted, it may be a bit difficult to run. Or if he is perhaps blinded as he is running, and goes and wanders too close to the not-so-friendly guards or something awry like that. There's just too many what if's in these types of situations to determine exactly who would win, based on assumption. I say we just get a couple SK's and Paladins and throw em together in the Arena and let true combat decide the outcome, not a group of people making far-fetched what-if's on a message board.
pally VS. sk
# Jul 31 2001 at 12:28 PM Rating: Good
ok everything im about to say is based on my own personal experience... the whole sk vs pally bit... who would win... any given day could be either one... depends on what tactics each uses and what each resists are at... trust me as a lvl 44 sk ive dueled MANY pallys... most of higher lvl then myself... there is no answer to this question... it all depends on teh tactics used by each during the fight and whether the spells are resisted or not... as far as which is the better to play... whichever one fits ur personality more... the one u have more fun playing is going to be better for ur grp because ur more into playing him.... NOW... all that being said... ask me who out of all the classes id want to team up with if going just 2 ppl into an area to fight... of course... a pally... im a 44 sk and my roommate has a 43 pally... together we ROCK!!! how can we not.. between the 2 of us we have 2 tanks a necro and a cleric... NO other 2 person combination can cover that wide a variety of skills in a fight... and throw us both together into CoM... OH DAMN!!! undead beware hehe opposite ends of the stick yes... but i'll be damn if together we dont make one HELL of a fighting force :P anyways i've said enough... later peeps...

However, I do wish to honor your efforts in writing this extensively detailed post, even though it will be sure to generate more arguments that will be off-topic to this section of the forum.

LOL... re-read this guy's post. Notice the pally does nothing but melee. Uh... why wouldn't the pally fear or root your pet? Why wouldn't he cancel your DoTs? Why wouldn't he blind you and joust? All those tactics along with the ability to heal can certainly even up the fight. And when you throw LOH into it it becomes a very even fight.
RE: Pallies Vs. SK's
# Aug 14 2001 at 4:51 AM Rating: Default
Heh, if i was the pally, i would use my DW armor, and whipe off your buffs, with cancel magic. Of course, being a paladin, i have all the endure spells, cause im part cleric. And being that my quest armor has SOME resists, i could stand quite a bit more of a chance then you assume. Plus, your basing your situation on too many things. 1) high level characters, a lot different... 2)Paladin is not very smart... 3)SK gets no resists... and 4)paladin gets resisted by everything... I don't mean to flame, and sorry if i did, but for some reason, your story didn't seem right.

Im seen a Pally take down a SK easily in Arena ... Its all how you play it. The Pally didnt even buff up , he Just casted stun first thing on the SK to interrupt his first spell and just changed into him. The only thing he did was Root and Stun and the SK was powerless. SK did his Harm Touch and Pally LOH for even more HP then the Harm Touch did DMG.

I am not saying Pally are better then SK ... it all depends on how its played and it could always go both way

AH..posted like a true sk that you are. A bit one sided I say.

Maybe some resist here and there...root here..stun there...you are missing alot of what a good paladin can do. Plus, you are assuming an sk get ALL of his spells off and all spell are not resisted.

True...the keenest eye is that which looks inward.....keep looking friend!

Personally, I've seen more SKs win fights against pallies than the other way around. Harm touch will normally take out about 1/3-1/4 of the pally's life, and they won't use Lay on Hands until they are below half a bub of life, normally. So, if the SK gets off Harm touch when it will do enough damage to kill off the pally, the SK wins, but if the pally is smart and uses loh at half hp, the pally will probably win.

As for which is more useful in a group??? I'd like to have one of each. Both are REALLY good at getting adds off of the healers, and it's hilarious watching two best friends who are playing a HIE Pally, and a Troll SK, dissing eachother for hours on end at a derv camp... heh, thanks for the fun Gore and Hilm, it was a BLAST

# Jun 05 2001 at 6:29 PM Rating: Decent
You can buy platinum bars at vendors..just check them all...I know for sure there's one in Kaladim...can't tell ya which Kaladim zone, though...but they are 100pp and up...and you have to buy 14 of them for all the Ro pieces...not very fun...

My suggestion is find someone within your guild...someone you trust that has VERY HIGH charisma and faction with the vendor...give him/her the money and buy as many as you can...will be cheaper depending on charisma and faction...

I ended up paying 1800 or so on my platinum bars due to low low charisma..

Good luck

Ro vs Mithril
# May 30 2001 at 6:54 AM Rating: Decent
Well, to make a long story short: I was camping stuff in MM not too far from where the cooks spawn and figured, what the heck: I'll make a Ro BP just to confirm what I've always thought about them.

So, here's the actual stat changes between a Ro BP and a Mithril BP when worn:

The Ro gives you 1 more total AC (as in actual change in your AC stat when worn).
The Ro gives you 4 more strength.
The Ro gives you 10 more Save vs Fire.
The Mith gives you 15 more agility (more dodging, etc).
The Mith gives you 30 more hitpoints.

Needless to say, I'll be wearing my Mith all the time except when going up against Naggy.

On the bright side, even at level 50, I still get the better part of a blue bubble of exp for turning in the stuff to make a Ro mold (so at lower levels, the exp is pretty astounding)... If you happen to be camping an area near where Ro quest mobs are spawning, might as well kill them.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 11 2001 at 11:23 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Tell me why the hell you wouldnt wear the ro one when it has the Fire Resist .. You need as much Fire Resist as you possibly can when going up aginst naggy ... 400 dmg AoE can be resisted with more FR and that 30 hp and 15 agi aint gonna help you much
