My druid can make these in brew barrel.

Do you have to be a certain level before Prismatic dye works on your armour?

No, there's no minimum level. You can use it at level 1.

Brewing is dirt cheap to skill up at -

54 points for free on the Queen of Thorns.

Fetid Essence (1 flask of water, plus one fishing grub), trivial in the 120's.

Faydwer Shaker:
elven wine, gnomish spirits, dwarven ale, mead, cask. Returns 4 bottles and cask or 4 bottles and shaker. Trivial in 160's.

Minotaur Hero's Brew: combine 3 malts, yeast, 2 flasks water, 2 short beers. Success yields 1 brew and 2 empty bottles, while failure yields 1 cask and 2 empty bottles). trivial at 248.

All of the above ingredients are available in one room - the brewing room in the Abysmal Sea.

You can make it to at least 200 and hold that geerlok for not much plat - and I would be doing this before I tried this combine. You really want as few failures as possible. Geerloks are under 20 plat in the Terris Thule Bazaar.

Just an FYI... the quest giver is Yitimis Groglenog and is located on the Queen of Thorns in the Abysmal Sea at -135, +180, +115. Hail and follow prompts.

For those that hate boats... 25 stacks each (grubs roughly 6 sp / water 2 gold )= 6p5g to take you to 122 brewing.

Resale fetid essence to vendor (char 201 + indif)
1s1c each and cut your losses... < 1p 6g 8s 3c YMMV>

net expense less than 5p.

dye for alchemy

can anyone tell me if you still use the same combines for the dye vial for alchemy???
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 02 2003 at 8:09 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) well personally if u are onb maelin sell them cheap because no one is willing to buy them high. if you are good at making this stuff, it shouldnt be too hard! they can cost about 20pp each to make and should be sold aroun 30 platnium... people sell them higher but they never get them sold.

It costs over 18p to make this portion of the combine. This however is not all that you need in order to have dye that will actually change the color of your armor. Don't forget the pottery portion of this, which costs another 10p+ for the unfired dye vial, plus you'll need the quality sheet for the combine. You'll need both your brewing and pottery skills well above trivial for this item. Now, after you've spent not only the time to raise your skills, but to travel out to Gunthak and back (the only place these ingredients, save the quality firing sheet, can be purchased) plus over 28p+ for expenses alone, plus the time to do the combines, if you're selling this for 30p you're simply wasting your time - not worth the effort if you're not gonna sell it higher than that. I dunno, perhaps you're one of the people selling them trying to talk your competition out of moving in on your market, or perhaps you've not made the stuff yourself and seen that your costs for making the dye is nearly 30p.

My first attempt making Prismatic Dye wasn't too bad... I came up with 33 out of 40.

Skill Levels

Pottery 122
Brewing 157

Be sure to get that Brewing skill as high as possible or else you'll spend alot of coin failing at the triv lvl. The Prism Shard costs around 10 plat and the Glaze Lacquer 8pp with 129Cha and Indif faction from the Erudite Woman with a bad fashion sense at the Lighthouse in GoG.

Good luck.
