epic skill dont mean sh*tz.. it means any, and ALL wep skills availble OTHER then H2H, because every class has it. And also, techinally speaking.. it's not exactly a true weapon.

Note to admin.
Suggest you add the Ext. range 3 to the top of page description, so those that are doing a quick look up don't miss it by not reading down into the posts. [With the plethora of tainted heartstones now days, it's really the biggest draw for this item.]

Don't tell that to those Ulaks, Knuckles, Claws etc. out there.
stats???
# Dec 04 2004 at 7:58 AM Rating: Decent
As a 56 wizzy, I maxed 1HB, 2HB, piercing,
as well as H2H, and the stats are;

AC: 1
INT: +2 AGI: +2 MANNA: +10
SV FIRE: +4 SV DISEASE: +4

There is no Ext Range III yet.
Does that and increased stats come with
maxing throwing, or has this item been
nerfed????
RE: stats???
# Dec 05 2004 at 12:00 AM Rating: Decent
OK, it isn't bugged or nerfed. I hadnt maxed my throwing. After doing that, I got all the higher stats and the Ext. Range III

Yippeeeeeee

Looks like ya gotta max ALL your available weapon skills.
Still Dropping?
# Oct 18 2003 at 2:31 PM Rating: Decent
I have camped this area for the last few weeks. I have killed the Scryer 5 times now and have never gotten anything but the ring. Is the charm still dropping? Is it just a really rare drop? On a side note, he is an easy kill with 200ish MR and having a FD class with a Bio Orb makes the room a snap to split.
Hand to hand
# Jun 27 2003 at 8:58 AM Rating: Decent
Hand to hand has no effect on this charm at least not for necros.
RE: Hand to hand
# Aug 20 2003 at 9:57 PM Rating: Default
Hey Prowler im sry but it says your CLASSES Weapon skill, necro epic is not hand to hand buddy... 1hb is your ticket to get this charm to work for you
RE: Hand to hand
# Aug 10 2004 at 12:20 AM Rating: Decent
Yes, it says your class' weapon skills. But it does not say your epic's weapon skill. The weapon skills available to necros are 1HB, 2HB, and piercing. H2H isn't exactly a weapon skill, since it doesn't use a weapon. I think the only reason H2H raises the stats on the cleric version of this is because clerics can only get two other weapon skills.

Over all a good way to put it for the classes involved, but H2H surely is a weapon skill in the game, and definately uses weapons, just ask any monk or beast for instance.
Throwing
# May 26 2003 at 8:00 AM Rating: Decent
Throwing does indeed count as a melee skill. Maxed it before doing h2h. With 1hb 2hb throw pierce, the stats are ac3 int 5 agi 5 mana 20 sv's 8 range3. Once h2h is maxed it will be ac5 int 5 agi 5 mana 35 svs 10 range 3
New stats
# May 25 2003 at 7:45 PM Rating: Decent
Well I have 110 2hb, 1hb and piercing only 75 Hand to hand and no clue how you would make it go to 110. But with those the charm gives me

Ac 3 Int 5 Agl 5 mana 20 Sv fire 8 SV Dis 8

And extened range 3.

It had all those when I finised 2hb. I bought Hand to hand to 75 and it didnt change at all.
Anyway it does spawn in that Room of the scryer.

Good luck.

The 4 stats that influence this item are 1h blunt, 2h blunt, hand to hand, and piercing (max 110 for all 4). With none maxed it has 0 stats. With 1 makes it has 3mana 1fire/disease. With 2 maxed it has 1ac 1int 1agi 7mana 4fire/disease. With 3 maxed it has 1ac 2int 2agi 10mana 4fire/disease. With all 4 it is 3ac 5int 5agi 20mana 8fire/disease.

The name of the mob who drops this is Scryer Xvallos. He spawns in a small "pool room" in the northern section of Torgiran mines. If you zone in from Dulak you'll be in the very south in the actual "mine section". Just before the pool room there's an L corner just before the door leading down that has no spawns or wanderers there. Inside there room there are 5 mobs: two on the right, one on the left, two in the back. I did the camp with me (65 wizard) and my dual box (62 mage). If you don't have pacify, note that the first two on the right will both come even with a level 65 puller, so root one, kill the add, then wait for the other. You can then single the one on the left, but you'll have to root pull the last two in the back as well.

The mobs there are either a luggald abomination, a luggald arcanist (wizard), a luggald occultist, or a luggald reaver (shadow knight). Highest I saw them hit for was around 149, each has about 10k-12k life. The wizard I saw cast the following spells: lure of frost, ice comet, rend, atol's spectral shackles, draught of fire, and tishan's discord. The shadowed knight's Harm Touch sucks but as far as spells I only saw him cast Insidious Regression, Dooming Darkness, and a lifetap. Scryer Xvallos spawned on the 39th mob (was back right mob on 8th cycle of clearing). Scryer is an enchanter mob that cast Fascination and Gasping Embrace (didn't give him a chance to cast any others). He mezzed my mage pretty fast so I just dropped him with root and nuke on the wizard, and it took ~4 Strike of Soluseks to drop him (12k hp). Dropped only the charm for me on his first spawn luckily. Rest of them only dropped Luggald daggers/tridents and a stackable claw shards (assume they're sellable to vendor).

Hope this post helps any seeking the charm.

H2H skill for casters caps at 75. That's the highest Magelo will let you go, anyway.

Is this item actually worth the time and effort (and risk) to max out melee skills on a caster? Just curious as to the opinions at large...
RE: Hmmm... (Poll)
# Dec 07 2004 at 1:55 PM Rating: Decent
Absolutely.... That Extended Range III once the stats are maxed is priceless in this slot.

In fact, skilling up is quite easy, though a bit tedious....

Most wizzies will have probably maxed skill in 1hb and piercing, some may have skilled up in 2HB as well, but most probably ignore H2H and Throwing. Even if they aren't they can easily be maxed using the same method described here.

Skilling up can easily be done once you have snare. Find a safe place where you can pull a mob that will go into a death walk when less than 20% health. Grab a single 'blue' mob and get it to the safe area, root and snare it, then nuke away till it is in a death walk (standing still). Start with a one or 2 big nukes, then use smaller ones to make sure you don't overblast right past the deathwalk and kill it.

At this point you can use any weapon to just whack away for skill points. You just have to make sure that you reapply the snare before it starts its death walk. If it gets to 1% health, switch to H2H, and it will slowly regain health as it is almost impossible to hit it often or for enough damage to kill it using H2H. If it gets over 19% health, use a very small nuke to bring it back down to around 16/17, the Solists Icy Wand is perfect for this only because it saves mana for re-snaring.

It will probably be easier if you also have 'harvest' and cast it every time it becomes available to avoid running out of mana. You should be able to keep the mob in the standing deathwalk forver if you have the patience.

I was able to bring 2HB and H2H from 15 (trained) to max skill in about 6 hours time doing this. It took about another 1hr and 20 minutes to bring Throwing from 1 all the way to Max as the skillups for throwing come much faster than for pure melee skillups. I started with 2 10 slot backpacks full of throwing knives and had more than 3 stacks left when skill maxed.

At 56, I did this in Cobalt Scar using the Wyverns, where you could do this as low as 48-50. In the 30s or low 40s, it could be done on the Ulthork in Eastern Wastes. Find wherever you are comfortable.

Now if I could only find some way to reasonably safely max Defense.......

I'm known as the Dress Wearing Tank.

52 Wizzie with crud AC (480 ish) and lame HP (Arch Shielding is needed to get me over 1000, up to 1070 ish)
But H2H is at 44, and all melee weaps skills are maxed (110).
Just because sometimes you really want to get personal with a mob and just hit it with a stick.
A snared Ice Giant under 19pct health will stand stationary while you beat it up, and with C3 or higher, by the time he dies, I am back up to 80pct mana, even after snaring again.
Now that I know of this charm, I want, I want, I want. I think it was made for casters like me. Maybe even more so than the Charm of Solitude I had been craving for.

Melee is not the job of a caster, but it's a game. Have fun any way you can. And knife fights are great fun!

No, I do not think it is worth maxing your skills for this charm, unless it is the only charm you have managed to find. There are better charms about. But if you are already maxed like myself, this is great !

If you really want to increase your skills, get a shammy to help you with Dex and Haste.

You sound just like me, as I maxed all my melee skills just to get up and have some fun with the mobs. Btw, I did almost all of my skill ups on the IG's in everfrost too. Currently, I work on begging while fighting. If in a group, I just run up, beg, nuke, concussion, back off abit, and sit, rinse and repeat as necessary. If solo at the IG's, I just nuke it down to 5-6% and sit right by them medding up and begging at the same time, and when snare breaks, kill it. I don't bother with getting kei or other mana regen buffs for the IG's anymore as Flappy, Solstice Earring, and Manaskin give me all I need for a single spawn camp like them. Now they just need to make a charm that gets better as your begging skill improves.

Sorry, off topic. I thought you couldn't beg a mob that was in combat. Or does the skill still go up?
It reminds me of jumping the broken bridge in CC and having my Swimming skill increase 6 feet above the water.

You can't beg if you have auto-attack on, but you can flip it off, beg, and the flip it back on.

The mob being aggro on someone doesn't appear to matter.
RE: Off Topic
# Feb 13 2004 at 2:43 AM Rating: Decent
That is correct, you can beg an aggroed mob, as long as auto attack isn't on. Skill ups are alot less frequent though for some reason, but they do happen. Took me apx 1000+ begs to go from 169 to 170. For wizzys, this isn't a prob for a solo mob, just snare it, nuke it so it wants to run, sit yer butt down and med while being 1 inch from mob and beg. Be careful that the mob doesn't regen enough hps to want to beat you down, or some crack head druid decides to be funny and runs up and roots the mob.

When I was doing IG's in EF, it was a great way to pass the time after kei wore off and ya didn't want to leave to get another for fear of losing the camp and needed to med for more than 5 mins 40 secs.

Current stats appear to be with two out of a caster's four weapon skills maxed (1hb, 2hb, piercing, h2h). With no skills maxed there are no stats; one skill gives 3 mana, 1 sv fire/disease; two maxed gives what is shown in the picture; three gives 2 int and increased mana/saves (don't remember exactly). Haven't maxed h2h yet, so I don't know final stats.

Dropped off of a named chanter luggald in a room with 5 luggald spawns in Torgiran- room had a pool of water on the ground and a fireplace. He spawned after we had been there a couple hours. Was tricky to kill, but not overly hard; he mezzed our tank in the middle of the fight. Can't remember the name.
