We could use a pic of this with the modern UI.

We could use at least one pick of this being wielded by someone.

A modern-era verification that it still drops would be good.

Has anyone seen it on progression servers during Kunark?
Mixed Feelings

The weapon I had been using was non-magical and did around 15hp max, 13 avg,it had a rate of 38. This does around 8max, 6 avg, and has a rate of 20. Since it's almost 2x as fast the damage about equals out. The added bonus of the 90dmg is great, but it rarely happens for my 15th lvl druid.
dumb proc
# Mar 08 2002 at 4:26 PM Rating: Default
hmmm I know most weapons that proc AoE spells (admantite bo stick) and they normally will hit the caster too... and I doubt a druid really needs to lose and extra 99damage in a battle where he/she needs to melee (which should be never) so this weapons kind of stinks...
RE: dumb proc
# Mar 18 2002 at 6:25 AM Rating: Excellent
This proc is not an AoE proc. Its a single target DD for about 94 points.

ok, there is no point to flame any item people. obviously allakhazam posts ever item for completeness. But this item really isn't so bad for a low level druid (admitedly rangers should probly focus on consistant damage dealing, instead of unreliable procs)

The true beniefit of this weapon comes with the low delay. which is both good for procing the weapon, and for practicing 1hb. A low level Druid could really beniefit from the ability to practice 1hb, and still have a nice proc.

Druids & Melee
# Jun 21 2001 at 7:11 AM Rating: Decent
Honestly, since druids never melee after level 20-ish, the damage on a weapon counts less than it's special attributes. When I'm soloing, I sometimes fear an animal and beat on it, doing maybe 10-14 points a pop. With this weapon I hit for about 6-9 damage each time, but when that proc goes off it more than makes up for the lower melee damage. In fact, I'm finishing off the mobs a lot sooner than I used to. Also, when I have to, this staff gives me some actual advantage in tanking a mob to death.

Nice proc but...
# May 24 2001 at 9:20 AM Rating: Decent
Yes, 99 DD is a nice proc, but that damage, even with a very high dex and haste, would not make up for the damage you are NOT doing by using a weapon with a base damage of 3. I would prefer to have a weapon that consistently does more damage in melee, and not rely on a proc that only happens sometimes, and has a chance to be resisted.

# Sep 07 2001 at 4:41 AM Rating: Decent
Well, i supose your right if you are a ranger, for druids, who habitually have low strength this is very good. Druids don't do much damage anyway and a 99hp proc is great, not to mention the mana saved
Hahaha

I'm a lvl 29 cleric... Me and 2 lvl 36s took him out farely easy.. Didn't even have to heal that much. 2 lvl 40s and a 38 should have no troublel killing him at all... And he dropped the staff that i think would be a ver nice offhand weapon for a ranger. Hey a 99 dmg proc isn't bad at all!
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 17 2001 at 10:17 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Off hand procing items proc incredibly rarely. With Fang of the Garou, which a rogue in my group was wielding in off hand, proced once in 4 hours. Using a proc'er in off hand is the stupidest thing one could ever do. Plus, offhand doesn't take delay into account... Rendering this 3 base damage weapon useless... You really don't have any idea what you're talking about, and are giving false info. Please kill yourself.

Hmm. Thats funny, cause my offhand procs on average about once or twice per fight. Course I have 145 dex, so that probably has something to do with it.
BTW, I hate when people flame each other in here - its pretty pointless.
darn good weapon
# Apr 03 2001 at 12:54 AM Rating: Default
I dont know what you people are smoking, this is a nice weapon for a ranger to use. put it off hand and be sure to have a dex buff. The dam/Delay sucks, but id trade the dam/delay for the nice 99DD any day of the week.

Well thats my 2cp =)
#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 10 2001 at 9:54 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) ERRRRRR whay is this even listed IT SUCKS
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 24 2001 at 12:45 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Careless lightning is a level 5 druid dd, is it really worth it people? they should lower the level to it procs at to at least level 9 or 8 or something, so it could be usefull for a while.
RE: careless lightning
# May 12 2001 at 1:02 AM Rating: Default
careless lightening is a level 19 spell for druids. Was the only decent magic based spell for druids until like level 39 until velious expansion came out
RE: careless lightning
# Mar 11 2001 at 11:06 AM Rating: Default
lvl 5 druid dd, do you even play eq buddy? careless lightning is a lvl 19 druid dd that does 95-99 dmge, and i think that would be a nice effect on any weapon, especially in the hand of a lvl 15 druid or ranger. please people, before you post, try to know what your talking about, and not just make stuff up.
carless lightning procs 99damage
# Feb 24 2001 at 8:37 AM Rating: Decent
um, no carless lightning is a lvl 19 druid spell that is a 99 dd this is a very nice staff for a druid
It is a proc.
# Jan 31 2001 at 1:45 PM Rating: Decent
It is a proc , and will work at level 15 for the wielder.
RE: It is a proc.
# Oct 22 2001 at 1:17 PM Rating: Decent
It proc'd for my level 17 druid. So the chances are pretty good. I really like this staff. I was using a weapon that did much more damage per hit, but was having problems finishing off the mob, the mob would stand there while I missed over and over. Druids are not melee, so with this proc'ing 99 dd, it was very sweet. It proc's on average two times per fight, and thats plenty for this little druid. Thats my 2cp
