I would say this drop is no longer "Very Rare". They drop left and right on the Luclin server. I would pop into the Bazaar if looking for one, there is always an average of at least 5 for sale.

Seems like the rare is the orb. Getting lots of BCP and stone silks but no orb for my SK Life Leech spell quest.
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 07 2002 at 6:05 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I was handed this after a guild raid one night, long ago when I was but a wee level 26 dr00d. Buncha other nice items too.....this was before every noobie in the game was really an alterna-twink. I think I was wearing a Splitpaw Hide Vest before this. Just had a guildie give me a Shroud of nature tonight so this very nice very heavy piece of equipment is now chilling in the bank. haven't quite decided if the +6 wis I think this gives me is worth the other stat trade-off's. But I have really grown fond of this piece for the past 23 levels, I have no complaints so the peeps that are posting that can't even wear it should prolly just shaddup......as far as solo vs. group? Hmmmmm.......funny that I never get great drops when I solo ( forest loops being about it) but probably 90% of my leveling is done by myself, in wolf form. Eventually I've grown tired of killing guards and NPC's ( not to mention the complete assault on faction)I find the appeal of bigger, better and more lucrative endeavors requires that I group a bit, which is gonna take some getting used to as I don't think I've done that since my teens. I'm hoping that tanks have gotten brighter since we were low levels cuz when you pull the WHOLE room or zone and I run out of mana? We are both going to need a REZ. And our very next thoughts will be......LOADING, PLEASE WAIT.....

I just traded this chest piece against a Cured Tizmak Surcoat. And I am very happy with. Also the brown plate looks great. haven't seen it in Luclin models yet.

Also love the +9 extra's.

As of the "***** All Iksar" patch on Jan 23 2002, this item is now useable by the following:

Class: DRU

Race: BAR, OGR, TRL, VAH, HIE, HEF, ELF, DEF, GNM, HFL, DWF, HUM, ERU

Sorry, all you Iksar Druids out there, this has a plate graphic, so you're out of luck.
Beastlord usable?
# Dec 13 2001 at 12:16 PM Rating: Default
I just wanted to tell people that although this item is listed as Beastlord usable that change has yet to be implemented. I bought one of these last night thinking it would be a nice low level item for my budding beastlord. To my surprise, I tried to equip it and it had no luck. I dont know if they are planning to change this item or not, but it you are buying this item to use immediately you should reconsider.
RE: Beastlord usable?
# Dec 15 2001 at 9:40 PM Rating: Default
Just a note to verify this. I also bought one of these for my BST and found that is not actually BST useable. Likewise, not sure if it going to be alloted for BST or not, but hoping so. Same is true for many items, it seems. Be sure to check the ACTUAL item before you trade pp for it. It may say it is BST useable here; but in actuality, it really may not be or may not YET be.
Why wear this?
# Nov 24 2001 at 1:17 AM Rating: Default
Why would a druid want this? You can get a Foreman's tunic for much less. This thing weighs you down and gives you stamina agility and dexterity. Who cares. If you're a druid and want AC then make a ranger. You're doing something wrong if you're taking damage.

First: Cuz it looks cool.
Second: AC
Third: Cuz it looks cool!

I am only level 21, and I need the AC this gives me. Trying to find gear for my druid was like pulling teeth. I do most of my stuff solo. Root/snare, nuke, whack like the ********* I was lucky, one of my guildies gifted me with my Protector! Before he gave it to me, I looked like I was running around in a cat suit! ugh!

# Jan 21 2002 at 5:16 PM Rating: Default
I am a 47 druid currently wearing a Foreman's Tunic (which I've had since my early teens). With my other gear, my wisdom is currently 209. But the main reason I want this piece of armour?? Simple, I AM !%$%@!# SICK OF THE ALL LEATHER NEWBIE LOOK!!!! Most classes either get a robe with a new graphic or armor with nice fancy new graphics fairly regularly in their career. But not so for druids. Most of our armor is the generic newbie leather look. This is one of the very few druid chest pieces that doesn't have the newbie leather look. I believe it is one of 6 that don't require a long involved quest. That number is probably a bit off, but not by much.

There is of course some other non-quest non-leather looking chest pieces out there, but this is probably the easiest to obtain.

Well, if you are of the small races.... I am a VERY low level compared to this, but as far as a different look and even better ac (without the bonuses) go with the Scarab Breast plate. It is really easy to do the quest, and you can even usually BUY the components and its a few gold. Very cheap to anyone close to level 50. I have the helm on my halfling and the boots... It lowers my char's charisma BUT it looks cool. :)~

First off, to say that a druid should only solo is way off base. Yeah, it can be done, if you pick and choose your mobs. There is no way a druid is going to solo his or her entire career. If so, then they will barely even afford this item.
There are only a few items that be looted via solo.
That is why you group; that is why you find a guild. Find me one person who soloed for Elder Spirited Vambracers, or for the Jade Reaver (epic item) You cant! You cant do many (good) quest items solo; you cant get your epic solo. Solo is done when you are only on for a short time, when there is no room in the places you want to fight, or when you dont feel like mingling with others.
Now this chest piece. I never wore the Formans Tunic. As a druid in my teens, I couldnt afford that much. I had a LOckJaw Tunic until my guild gave me the Ulthork Hide Tunic. I had that until just a few days ago. I decided to get this item, and I am very pleased with it so far.
Granted, I lost 3 wis, and 35 mana, and 1 ac, but here are a couple things.
When you group, say, with a cleric, they have some of the best ac buffs in the game. So with my buffed HP, AC, and Chloro, I am able to survive in the chance that they aggro me.
If I am the main healer, we have our own ac/HP buffs, so if we find aggro. The extra agi works wonders. Trust me. Found this out in Velk Lab over the weekend.
Druids are just as much a grouping class as shaman are. Team up with tanks and a cleric or enchanter, and that just increases your potential.
Why do you think we have so many GROUP Buffs? Group Sow, Group Wolf, Group Chloro, group skins...
It is rare to see competent druids only soloing. All of the successful druids are in Sirens Grotto, Karnors Castle, The Grey......GROUPED!
That is my 2 cents worth.

There are lots of BP's much better than this, although I wear it anyway.. AC does help out a little bit, although people are right in saying that wisdom is far more important to a druid.

WTF are you talking about, although i am not a druid, i have played druids before and grouped with plenty. Are you gonna also say that clerics shouldn't ever worry about AC 'cause they won't get hit? You need to think about what you post, before you post.

RE: Why wear this?
# Nov 30 2001 at 1:56 PM Rating: Decent
The point is, which you obviously fail to see, WIS is way more important to a druid then AC is. A Druid is more a solo class then a group one. I play a druid and would never even think about getting this piece of garbage. The Foreman's Tunic is AC10 and +3WIS, plus it weighs zero. Hell, if you're a Druid and want AC then get a Tree Weave. Unless your WIS is at 200 without your BP then I don't see a point to having this. A Cleric is a different class all together so your comment is ignorant, their armor is different.
RE: Why wear this?
# Dec 06 2001 at 3:01 PM Rating: Default
You are the fool, druids thou the can solo(via kiteing), are MUCH more a grouping class. They are very slow soloers. In a group the make things much more fast pace, there for speeding up the xp which in turn makes them lvl faster. Hence they are better groupers then soloers. Furthermore, if you like to solo and cast may I suggest a mage or a necro, but I warn you necros are not much at higher lvls and have a crap epic where as mages are very sought after and have a kick *** epic, plus they are farming machines. Do as you will but this comes from someone with experiance with all the above classes, take it for what you will.
RE: Why wear this?
# Dec 07 2001 at 8:13 PM Rating: Default
I play a druid also, and I have to disagree when you say druids are much more a grouping class. When I'm in a group all i do is sow, ds, a few buffs, and backup heal. I find myself nuking to relieve boredom if there is a primary healer. As a soloist you can quad kite out of your 30s fairly easily in eastern wastes. If you think you dont get hit very often you are wrong, because ensnare doesnt always land, and there have been times when I've barely fought off a mob by ds'ing myself and tanking it because i was low on mana, and believe me that extra +3 wis from the foreman tunic would not have done crap. considering the price of it (around 200-250p last time i saw) it is a very decent low-mid level druid chestpiece.

way I dissagree with you BOTH. My druid is very low level. But I would have to say (since I have like a trillion alts) I see a good difference in race and class pretty early on. I feel the druids roll is actually one of the most versitile. I think its like split personality, I can seeit even in my early teens. When I am alone I am a kiting, snaring, nuking machine. When I am in a group I am a harmony and healing machine, I am a bit less tanking.

All I am saying is I feel that a druid has like duel rolls. They sort of transform into another entity if grouped... Truely. I think ANYONE debating it can see that Clearly about a druid. You fort of become more of a buffing, healing and organization member.

Why would anyone want to wear this? Simple.. more AC and other stats outweigh the +3 wis on a Foreman's Tunic, not to mention it's original look. A Foreman's Tunic looks like all the other non-Velious leather out there, this looks better and has more AC. Sure, it has 10 wt on it... but my Druid, while wearing this, has 35/80 weight. Plus, unless you have no money or are under level 60, then the measly +3 wis doesn't amount to that much. Use a mana calculator from Casters Realm, and see how much mana 3 wisdom generates. In fact, I'll do it here:

My level 30 Druid has 185 wis wearing the Foreman's Tunic. He started with 110. So.. at level 30, he has 1170 mana. At 182, he has 1152 mana. Wow.. that 18 mana really makes a huge difference. Maybe a snare (level 1 snare).. but nothing else. Nothing you couldn't sit down and med back in 5 seconds anyway. 2 AC and +9 Dex, Sta and Agi way outweighs the 18 mana for me.
RE: Why wear this?
# Dec 22 2001 at 3:27 AM Rating: Default
Hmm, did you calculate the whopping 2 more AC? This thing still sux. Get a shroud of Nature. Druids never have to take dmg, its called SoW. If you're low on mana and root breaks then u run, med root again. He should be ensnared already unless you're an idiot so he wont catch you. To the moron who said druids are more a grouping class then I suggest you stick to your simple warrior or whatever you play. Druids are a soloing class all the way. I went solo with my druid at 24, fear kiting in LOIO and Stonebrunt. Past 29 its way too easy for a druid to solo. Snare, root, DOT, bye bye. You say you speak from experience then you must of been one pathetic dr00d.
Wisdom wisdom wisdom, ***** the AC, thats what buffs are for. I'll take more wisdom over AC any day.
RE: Why wear this?
# Jan 04 2002 at 6:36 PM Rating: Default
Ok, I am sorry to say that even though my druid is not wearing this (Wearing Ulthork Hide Tunic, cause it looks cool!!!) I wish sometimes that she was. You are right as far as soloing, but let me tell you that your method works great in the 20s and maybe the 30s for a while, but wait till you're in your low 40's, and you are still using "Ensnare". Guess what, it gets resisted. Then what?!?!?!...expecially when the Ulthork, Giant, or what ever you are kiting is almost running as fast as you are with SoW. You ARE going to get hit a couple of times, and quad hits for 70 - 80 HP hurts. AC and AGI really help in these situations. Second point is that in the D&D world successful casting (not fizzleing) is a roll against your DEX. I am not sure if EQ has taken that into account or not, but I still keep it in mind. (Not to mention DEX is used if you have a procing weapon.) Now to address your wisdom point, it is a well known fact that 1 point of wisdom is less then 10 mana until level 60. Remember that you are soloing and you don't want to waste that mana with buffs, so get armor that has AC. And we are not talking about 2AC here, remember that there is a modifier as you level. 1AC on an item can be several when you put it on. Point is that this is still a nice Mid level druid item and is well worth the extra 200pp over the Forman's Tunic.

My two cents...

RE: Why wear this?
# Jan 24 2002 at 5:25 PM Rating: Default
Snare gets resisted at EVERY level. Sarnaks are fast too. That is why they give us WOLF FORM. It is faster than SoW. Notice how we get a new every so often? Keeps you from the mobs in case ensnare does get resisted. Then you just run and cast it again. It's really simple and you people are making it sound like rocket science. Funny, I am at 39 and when I do solo I get hit maybe once per mob. Ouch. Boy, if I had that 2AC maybe I would have taken 20 dmg instead of 30. Just a word of advice, if you're playing your character it helps if you're not retarded. :p
RE: Why wear this?
# Sep 03 2005 at 5:37 PM Rating: Default
Kenaron the Charming, lol talk about retarded, look u made a ranger. also, eq wasnt made so u can go even more antisocial. if it was a game made to solo itd be a singleplayer game, with no mobs that summon, no npcs that require a raid or group, and then the developers wouldnt care if u hacked. the point is that druids become less and less solo oriented and mroe and more group oriented. very few of the druids would need the heals they get in the high end game if they were soloing. also they wouldnt get GROUP version of their buffs. anotherthing is they would get almost completely different aa's. Finally ur not black and ur not a ranja- ur a ranger. and this arguement is for a druid only item.

I totally agree. I'm merely a level 26 Druid and have to solo most of the time. Plus wis don't do me much good when my roots don't stick (and they do sometimes).

More than enough ways to add wisdom. But I do plan to upgrade to Crystal Chitin...sometime when I'm old enough.

But this BP is good for me (for now). The stats really help my game!

Side bar note: With Luclin installed, makes my Druid look kinda funny tho'. Can anyone say tip over? Hahahahaha
RE: Why wear this?
# Jun 05 2002 at 8:15 PM Rating: Default
Yeah, don't use Luclin models, they look awful. :) They look like something out of Roman times, very confusing when the races are elves, halflings, etc. But that's my opinion so take it, or don't. Must say I love the AC & stats on this piece & is well worth the extra weight in my 20s. I must point out also that some people like to melee now and then just because. Also is nice when you have decent melee skills if you need a few hits on that mob. I tend to solo, sometimes standing meleeing with a mob and spelling it. I can do 2 or 3 blues easy before sitting and medding. Druid is a very versatile class :)

Frankly, I don't care about looks anymore. I'm sick of seeing half elves with 40 WIS more than me. I wear a Foreman's Tunic, for the +3 wisdom. I have 136 WIS. And 200pp in the bank. I just try to save up for spells, and my most commonly used word is "OOM." Also, it doesn't help that I put only 20 points into WIS at creation. And there I am, running around at level 30 with leather armor. The only good things I have are a Runed Circlet, Foreman's Tunic, and Testament of Vanear. So, in my opinion, this thing is not worth the time, money, or look. If you really need to have a plate look, by the more expensive but cooler looking Elder Spiritist's Breastplate.

I got one of these free at level 2 from a Harmonium Giveaway on my server...I'd just lost everything in a botched character switch (I started with a HalfElf Druid..and it sucked once I got to 19...not enough mana to even kite a Griffawn...ugh...so I tried doing a drop-relog-pickup..but screwed it up somehow..and ended up with nothing...I laugh about it now...cuz-> ), I was wandering around bored (and 'stuffless'), and somehow ended up in Riverdale...and ppl were running around giving stuff away....I got this and a Black Chitin Leggings(which I sold for 400pp and a Bracers of Scavenging, which I think I sold for 600pp..and well, my luck shined and I bought a whole new wardrobe of stuff..not the greatest, but at least filled in the gaps)...I still wear this...since I got a Golden Opal Amulet (+9STA +5AGI?)...I got a Lot more HPs to run away with when kiting get's lagged...and I get MISSED a lot more when DamageShield fighting (gotta love the irony of Iksar Manslayer's beating themselves to death on my thorns...Bandit classes too...they hit fast and not hard enough..and wear themselves out)...as for Price...I'd pay 500pp if I didn't already have it...it's worth it! What Druid wearable BP can you think of that has WIS you can just buy? not many...and getting that roll..well...it's a lot easier when yer the only class in the group who can use it....nuff thed

This is supposedly a great druid BP, but I'm not impressed at all -- it weighs a ton for one thing. Those stats are okay for a druid, but druids should be trying to get the most WIS using the fewest slots, freeing up space for resistance gear and possibly HP gear.

This is a mid level druid item, which, since druids don't get quest armor like the clerics, warriors, pallys, etc, is supposed to fill that mid level void. If you look at the quest armors, most pieces don't have the primary stat for that class. For example, the only cleric pieces that have wisdom are the bracers. All the other pieces provide saves and other stats, plus pretty good ac. Tahts what this item does as well, provides good ac for a druid item, and very nice stats. As a relativel new player, with a lvl 34 main, I have found that it takes quite some time to reach the level where all the class specific drops have primary attributes for the class. I'm still not there. Getting to where more items I can hunt, quest or afford have wis, but still not all (unless it has some other huge weakness like no ac, like platinum armbands for example). I wear the full sol ro quest armor, except for gloves. Even without wis on most pieces, and the inherent low base wis of a human cleric, I still have my wisdom up to 168, and mana items which add another 100 mana or so.

I'm sure people will line up to disagree with me, but the truth is, all these stats also help a druid. Every stat plays a part in the game, and as you get higher in levels, this actually becomes more valuable.

When I first got mine I was level 28, I had a Formans Tunic, and had this offered to me in a trade. At the time, I was thinking this was almost as good as a Formans Tunic for a druid, and I would be able to sell it. After all It seems to be worth more.

It sat in the bank for about ten levels and then I pulled it out to sell it. My wisdom went from 146 to 183 in the mean time. Suddenly the additional pluses to Sta, and Agi mean a lot more than 3 wis. Everything I get at this point has good Wisdom Bonuses, this is not a bad item at all. If it wasn't Druid only it would be worth a lot more.

If these are very common, how do I get one? Does anything drop it? If so what? I'll go kill it! The first time I saw this on a Druid I was shocked because I never saw a Druid wearing armor. He had a breastplate and leggins. The only thing that confused me was, that they looked silverish not brown. All I can say is the stats are good and they are stylin!

A friend of mine on a PVP server reckons that many spells use Different stats to determine their efficiency/sticking potential. Snare/Root supposedly uses Stamina to determine success. According to this theory a good all round balance of stats would probably be better than just raw mana i.e. Wis....
