No, it is probably droppable now, along with all the other charms. The problem is that Alla is terrible about keeping up with such changes.

Also I would like to add that this charm is usable on the moon. I tried it in Nexus and the Bazaar. It gives me:

STA +5
WIS +4
AGI +4
MANA +10
SVCold +8

It gives me these stats on my 50 mage as well as my 65 druid.

Hope this helps.

I picked this up today and it is not no drop...I wonder if they are making most charms droppable now, as also I have picked up 2 other charms in Dulak that are also not no-drop.

Being that it is droppable now, what would be the price on it?

Just curious...

Just wondering if this item would work on the moon. If you check the time there it says something along the lines of time has no meaning there. I got this message in Shadeweavers Thicket where you have a beautiful view of Norrath.
works on Luclin
# Jan 14 2004 at 1:37 PM Rating: Decent
I was wondering the same thing. It does work on Luclin during the night cycle. I was in the bazaar, and noted that the orchid was not working. A little while later I noticed that it was working.

I'd assume that it doesnt work on the moon at all -- take spells that can only be cast at night, such as dance of the fireflies. It can not be cast at any location on the moon, regardless of whether it is day or night there or on Norrath.
RE: Hmmmm...
# Aug 28 2004 at 10:50 AM Rating: Decent
I actualy went to the moon to practice Conjuration with my ranger (Dance of hte Fireflies, night only spell) and it turned out in shar vahl that i couldn't cast the spell, however when it turnedto night (after about 30 minutes real time) the spell worked.

Perhaps it only works on the dark side of the moon? But yeah, you're right, there's no "time" on the moon. Just says that since the sun doesn't rotate here, time has no meaning...

Deffenetly an intresting thought, though...
RE: Hmmmm...
# Sep 11 2003 at 10:10 PM Rating: Excellent
Uhmm, what it says is you cannot TELL the time, but there certianly are still day and night periods on luclin. I'd tried taking my ranger there to practice conjuration, thinking that i'd be able to cast dance of the fireflys all day long on the dark side, but i still had to wait for day and night cycles.

Aw, quit whining.. :P it's probably a rare drop. killing something 4 times is nothing - look at how many times you'll have to kill placeholders once you get started on your epic.

Info on this dude
# May 01 2003 at 11:35 AM Rating: Excellent
I killed him 9 total times over a period of 48 hours over 4 days. He dropped the cap 4 times, the belt 4 times, and the charm once. It is very rare. The PH is a gnome lighthouse operator at the loc -480, -1000 standing on a table. He pops once every 30 minutes. That should help!

Oh, the charm does not work on luclin. I did a /time in Vex Thal and it game the the time does not work here. The charm had no stats.

# Apr 11 2003 at 12:50 PM Rating: Decent
I have camped this guy for 4 days - total of about 24 hours. He has only popped twice and both times I got the glasses and the cape :( Anyone have more info on this guy? Spawn rate, other PHs?
Only good thing is the exp is still good :)
It would be nice to get his charm, but wondering if these charms are really worth the effort. Would also be nice if they weren't no drop.

RE: Spawn time
# Apr 28 2003 at 11:54 AM Rating: Decent
Naw, I camped him for a total of 24 hours with 2 pops. First pop dropped cloak then 12 hours later I got the Orchid. I equipped it and it had no stats at the time. It was daytime when I checked the EQ clock. So time doesn't matter. Just glad I never have to kill another lighthouse operator every 20 minutes ever EVER again.

It drops off a named Gnome pirate called Konus Alatuk, who spawns in the lighthouse at around -480, -1000. His placeholder is 'a lighthouse operator' (also a gnome pirate). I found him up when I was looking around, and I since I was in the area I killed the ph five times but didn't see Konus again. He conned dark blue to my 56 mage, seemed to be a warrior mob, and was an easy kill.

# Mar 19 2003 at 10:17 PM Rating: Default
This item only works at night so how does this item works up on Luclin where there is no night or day?
RE: Question.
# Mar 20 2003 at 7:17 AM Rating: Default
It depends what time it is on Norrath(it seems all of Norrath AND the moon are all in the same time zone =P). Same with spells that can only be cast at night.
RE: Question.
# Aug 02 2003 at 11:44 AM Rating: Decent
I think the guy who posted below about it being different for different comps was probably right. I generally don't really see a "pinkish glow" However, I have a Barb shaman (no night vision, who, at 29 (he's 32) got the spare Form of Bear, which grants Infavision, as well as the spell Ultravisoin. On my comp, there is a definate difference between normal and Infra, no matter what day. When I turn into a bear, the whole world kind of gets washed in a light reddish color, same thing with Ultra, except it's blue instead of pink. If you would like to see the differences in visions, make a human, eru, or barb, and then find a shammy who can cast infra and Ultra on you, the differences are really kinda interesting
RE: Question.
# Mar 19 2003 at 11:13 PM Rating: Default
there is still night or day, you just cant tell by typing /time because the sun doesnt rotate, the hours still pass by
RE: Question.
# Nov 18 2003 at 4:45 PM Rating: Default
Actually the day/night cycle is the planet rotating on it's axis, not the sun revolving around the planet, causing different portions of the surface to be exposed to th sun. Since the moon doesn't rotate on it's axis there is no day/night cycle. If you have this charm (I don't) and want to see if it works on the moon, I would suggest you go to Norrath wait until the night cycle, see if you have stats on it, then take the PoK stone to Shadeweavers Thicket (the Shar Vahl stone) and see if you still have the stats. If it doesn't have stats try going to the dark side of the moon during the same time period and see if it does. That should tell you if it will work on the moon. BTW a possible reason you can't tell the time on the moon is because you can't tell the relative position of the sun in the sky, sun dials wouldn't work either. However on Norrath you can see the relative position. Since there are no time pieces you need the sun as a refferent. That would seem to be the logic.
RE: Question.
# Mar 20 2003 at 3:19 PM Rating: Default
Well, night is when the sun is not in the sky above and day is when the sun is in the sky above. This means if your on the dark side of the moon it is always night and if your on the light side of the moon it is always day.

I realy doubt Verant will get that techincal with a charm, so chances are it will work based on what time it is on Norrath.

actaully for those with innate infravison, such as the Vah Shir, you can tell when its day and night because the infra is only active at night, highlighting all living creatures with a pink glow, then it turns back off when daybreak hits.

rather irritating really, cuz you hunt at night and see where all the beasties are clearly, then suddenly the glow is gone, and you have to watch for movement in the distance, especially if you are hunting one specific creature.
RE: Question.
# Mar 30 2003 at 7:58 PM Rating: Default
pink glow? I don't think so sir. I am a gnome and I have infravision, such a "pink glow" doesn't exist, I believe you are mistaken.

Pink, more like Red
# Mar 31 2003 at 11:47 AM Rating: Default
Actually the guy previous is correct, Infra vision will make "warm blooded" mobs glow red in the right conditions. Good example, go to Greater Faydark and make sure your Gamma is set to Normal levels (not uber bright).

EQ Client is messed up anyways, sometimes infra vision won't work quite right, and who knows it may not work anymore at all, but usually with Infra vision, mobs will glow red. It's a heat thing. You'll notice Skeletons and other undead should not be glowing. Ultravision is different though, mobs don't glow.

That Vah Shir guy is screwy though, and if I had to guess I'd say he's playing with his gamma all the way down.

Charm, I believe will work all the time if your on the dark side of Luclin.

actually, yes. i do play with gamma down a bit. i dont like everything being washed out. i brighten it up just enough to see (but then again my main is a dark elf, and thus, thats not really much at all)
if i have problems seeing in dark areas on a night blind or infravis character, well thats just part of the tradeoff.
RE: Pink, more like Red
# Apr 05 2004 at 6:30 PM Rating: Decent
I'm an Iksar, and honestly hunting in the Field of Bone went much more easily because EVERYTHING glowed red (pink if gamme was above 42%), including the undead. Actually, especially the undead. I dunno what it was, but they seemed to be the easiest ones to see, but I've noticed Iksar skeletons glow more than human/elvish ones.

On my system, the glow is definitely more of a light pinkish. A friend of mine, on his system, same character types, did not have any glow, of any sort. We tried adjusting several of his settings, everything that we could think of, and could not get his to show. We attributed it at that time to the differences in video cards and/or the drivers. He has since quit playing, and I do not remember what video card he had. On my system, however, I have a GeForce2 MX 400. My wife has the same glow on her system, and we have nearly identical systems, so maybe that has a large influence on what you are seeing.

on my comp, when i have infravision, stuff clearly has a redish/pinkish glow at night, and goes away during the day. Ultravision however, just makes night into day basically. (it actually gives the whole screen a purpleish tint but you can deffinently see way better with ultra then you can with infra). also, undead "glow" no matter what iv noticed. i suppose its from the "magic" keeping them alive, but if you watch undead camps you will see a distinct glow for some reason. its cool if you ask me =)
RE: Pink, more like Red
# May 04 2003 at 1:56 PM Rating: Default
Yeah you guys are thinking of Ultravision which gives you the pinkish aura around things. UV which Iksar/gnome/dwarves etc have is just night vision, It's not ultra vision that is a danm neon glow if you ask me hehe.
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 20 2003 at 8:20 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You mean Sony, or 989 studios. Verant has nothing to do with EQ anymore.
RE: Question.
# Mar 22 2003 at 11:51 AM Rating: Default
Actually, Verant still does exist, its just that they were absorbed by Sony. The name may not exist anymore but its not like they fired all the programmers when they bought the company.
RE: Question.
# Apr 23 2003 at 9:55 PM Rating: Decent
I could be wrong but I thought that Verant still existed as a wholly owned subsidery of Sony.
RE: Question.
# Apr 24 2003 at 4:25 AM Rating: Decent
Ehrrrm...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Sony BOUGHT Verant.

Yes, the people still excists, but the company "Verant" does not. Those still left should be Sony-employees.

They even removed the verant-logotype from the flashscreens in the game.
