I was fortunate to fight in Dalnir at level 30 in a group not long after Kunark came out and got all the Crescent armor. These days it's hard to find enough people to group to get these things.
However, the Shiverback armor is nicer than Crescent and shouldn't be dissed too much. Yes, I would rather have the nice Velious monk chest piece that heals for 100 HP per right click but saving up for 3 Flawless Diamonds and then hoping a corroded leather jerkin drops in Kael will take a hell of a lot more time than camping these things.
If you can do better, feel fortunate that you have a guild with members that are willing to take time out of their gameplaying day to help you. Most people don't have that luxury.

Well i know we all expect more as you are in the planes but lets be honest. Planes armor really arnt that amaisingly great. Most 46+ monks you see more often than not have non planiar gear with mutch better stats than the Shiverback gear, also just about every monk with Veliose that is 46+ probably attends kael raids quite often and will get a piece of corroded leather or get a guilde that loots one when there are no raiders who need that particular piece to MQ it for him. and there are almost no saves on any of this gear id rather wear my Gold Threaded Tunic 20AC +10sv all from GM event on Hallowene

You forget one thing though... Some people wear this armor for the pride in saying, "hey I went to the Plane of Fear and EARNED my gear, I didnt just sit in ec for days and buy it." That is the reason i one day hope to attain this kick *** piece of armor.
It's not just pride alone. Not all monks can get Velious quest armor. Not all monks have the cash to buy better tunics.
And to the 6-year olds who keep knocking this armor... It's a give-in Shiverback is now old and weak compared to the new items. I mean after all this armor was around for over 4 years. /sarcasm If you don't have anything better, wear it. If you do, no crime in not wearing it.

my last raid in fear as good i thing but at the end i dident like it being the only one there not able to port or gate so =( but y is this so rare i hear the first silverback we killed had it on him =) but iam a ranger so i dident need ot but i wish my monk was lv 46 to loot it and no one did so it roted.

well im a 23 monk, and i think this armor is ok considering i got a whole set of Wu fighting armor
it should at least have its own unique look like Wu armor.

This was out when there were no special item designs and Verant dosent like to go back into the game and change stuff like that. So even though I would be cool to have a unique looking set of armor to show weve challenged the Planes and made it out alive we Monks will once more have to let our actions prove our valor.

first off u have no right telling me that this armor sucks, it adds to your agi which is awesome= less chance of getting hit right now i have a full set of this and a full set of panther skin. i even tested what u said i got my level 56 warrior friend with his Awesome full cobalt and my "crappy" shiverback, we both had out epic weapons, i was level 53 he was 56 guess who won of course me... my dex str and agi wis int chr and sta were ALOT higher than the warriors even with this "crappy" armor on my fists right now are 16/9 plus i have my haste items on i was attacking him endlessly. he would hit me every now and then but thank fully not for much. my epic weapons effect is HASTE near 60% plus my disaplines i stomped him badly

also on anther note rogues are good but at later levels still backstabb is nothing to our ashened hand attack which will most likely kill anything in nearly 1 hit

as i recall, backstab doesn't take 30 mins to recycle=P

Rogues get assassinate, which is basically the same thing as the Ashen Hand discipline. You should probably leave a name if you want people to beleive your really in FoH.

The thing sucks. It all sucks. Shiverback, as plana armor, is horrible. It pisses the heck out of me just to think about how horribly jipped the monk class f when it comes to even slightly good armor. We have nothing! Warriors have the good crafted to twink with, then theres mithril, ravenscale for rogues, all that chitin stuff for fruids, lambent for bards, tatomic for shamans, the list goes on. THEN those same classes get better upgrades, pallys get deepwater, bards singing steel, warriors cobalt, etc. THEN we get to planesdrop armor. Monks get frikkin cured silk and crescent, which as armor goes both lack horribly. I mean sure if monks could wear crafted theyd be far too powerful, but cmon! Give me a break! They desverve much better! hEY GUYS, iM GOING TO THE COBOLT SCARS... OH COOL, I CANT GO IM GOING TO BUY A SEWING KIT TO MAKE MY CURED SILK, WHICH DO U THINK IS BETTER MY CRESCENT ARMOR OR YOUR COBOLT?

Hehe, there's a reason that we don't get the "good" armor... We're NOT supposed to take hits!! That's basically why the tanks get more hp than we do, and why they get taunt, we're there to do the Real mele damage with the rogues. We shouldn't need the high ac of the taunters if you know how to play your class... but you're probably just another one of the endless monk twinks... <sigh>
This armor adds to our str, dex, and agi, and ahs a good amount of ac for 0.5wt, so that covers every important mele stat, plus the ac that they threw in so we can take a hit every now and then.
Just be glad you're not a smelly gnome >8D

well put. and also think about it... what do you picture a monk as... a knight in shining armor? or a humble poor and ragged character (from a roleplay standpoint) what im tryin to say is verant isnt jipping anyone, this is a ROLEPLAYING game, and well, this type of armor fits the role of a monk..... and trust me, its not like this stuff is that hard to get....
My only beef is this armor looks really plain. I mean all other planar has an original look. This looks like cured silk. It kinda makes me mad. And if your planar go after Silvermoon its better trust me I have Shiverback and desperatly want Silvermoon.

Man.. i just now am comparing this rare fear loot with some other velious stuff...geez compared to the other stuff makes this look like a cresent gi to tell ya the truth, oh well.

This is a LOT better than any Velious crap. Being a Strength Monk I would LOVE that thing considering my current robe is 12 ac 4 str 4 int 4 wis 10 sv cold (Crystal Covered Shroud, Killed the Herbalist in Crystal Caverns for it)

how does this compair to cresent gi? the stats are almost doubled
