The diseased shark is in Erudin harbor, on the same spawn tables as the rest of the roaming fish, pirahnas, and sharks (not the three stationary sharks, those are guarding Pearls of Odus)... just keep killing until it pops, I've killed it more than once, so its not that rare... good exp until about level 18.

Well, as far as I know there's no level cap on this quest, although you have to be amiable to them.
Keep in mind there are two Paladin/Cleric guilds in Erudin, the first one near the fountain, and the second one is near the Library. The second is the one giving out this quest. It is quite easy to get an amiable rating with them. (It is NOT easy to get the other Pal/Clr guild to like you, however).
Firstly you can go to the Warren's and hunt kobolds for molars. Since thet trivial loot code is gone, it won't be long before you have 20 or so molars. Go back to Erudin and hand the molars in to Tiam Khonsir in the Paladin/Cleric guild next to the Library. He's in the back garden. He will praise you and give you a little gold and sometimes bits of ringmail. The important thing is that he'll start liking you.
Keep doing this till he cons amiable, (which won't take long, i've handed in 50 molars but he was amiable before that...) and then you should be able to do the barnacle breastplate quest. I think the person giving out the quest is in the room behind the merchants in the guild, although I forget. Just hail everyone in there and ask around. Then follow the instructions to do the quest.
I like the armor. It's easy to get, and it looks cool. It's not fantastic (maybe it needs some boosts to it), but I like it regardless. Also you can sell it, or you can make some newbie happy by giving them this, and believe me, an untwinked newbie will love you forever if you give them weapons and armor. It's really hard to buy anything good between levels 1-5 because you only get like 9cp off the mobs at that level. If you do it a few times you could be a good samaritan and hand them out, rather than selling it for 10-30pp.
No it's not fantastic, but it does look cool, and it is worthwhile for the lower levels. They should probably give it better AC and some more stat boosts; or at least make it easier to get, but I still like it.
My shammy, bout lvl 14ish (man thats been ages ago now) did this quest for several reasons. One, I was praticing my shark killing before I had to go up against anything trully huge. I mean there are some pretty big sharks out there and while you wait on your diseased shark you get the chance to kill other slightly larger sharks who come right to you in a pretty safe place. Also, they look really cool on people, so I was doing the quest, taking the bp back and selling them for cheap to anyone who wanted them in my homeland of halas and they looked alot nicer than the leather armor the lowbees normally wear. I'll admit its not a great breast plate, but it definately added something to do while in eruden and I actually got pretty good exp off the sharks while I waited for the one I wanted.
thats my observation... use it how you like. It's worth questing if you can get exp off the sharks while you wait on the diseased.
I have completed this quest several times. There is no level cap, yes you need to be Amiable to complete it. I personaly had fun doing this quest everytime I take the boat from erudin to qeynos, and there is always a happy newbie in qeynos ready to recieve this nice piece of armor. It beats leather anyday. Well that was my 2 cp.
I ahve amiable and cannot yet do this quest, so i am inclined to believe it either has a level cap (you must be below X levels to do it) or more likely you must be high amiable (read something about there being factions within faction) to get it.
i got the bag with my erudite paly but then when i put some armor on him he looked like erudite with shiny wizard robe so i deleted him but first i transfered his money and stuff to my rogue. now i have the bag and all the shark stuff if i hand this in will he give me the bp?
you need to get amible for this quest. You can kill the necro at the boat to kreenen islands.Swpan time is about 6 min.good if you need armor or you want to give it to you newest charcter. After you have the right faction kill the disesed shark and it babys .The pally guild master will give you a bag ,combine it and than give it to him.good luck and enjoy:)

Maybe Verant should make this 11 or 10 AC and a little disease resist. But they could make the shark harder like a lv 15 or something. Im getting it anyways cause it looks awesome.
Look at this thing. You need to be level 10ish to complete the quest (level 9 w/ the right buffs), yet by that level you have the money to buy much better armors. heck, this thing isn't anyhting but leather armor that gives +3 fr, +3 cld, and lets face it, how much differance are dinky bonuses like that really goingto make? I recommend going for this for only 2 reasons...
It looks really cool on half or high elfs.
It's an easy 10-20pp, 30pp if you find someone who wants it for fashion.
Anyway, IMHO Verant needs to up the AC by 2-3 to make this quest really worth taking and the item worth getting, or maybe bump the saves up to +5 vs each.
I don't know about you, but I'd kill for a few more item graphics in game, especially unique ones. Actually, I'm rather fond of not having to hit level 60 so I can make VT or NToV trips to get the armor that looks fashionable.
Things like this allow lower level characters to actually tailor their appearance a little bit.
It's one of the reasons that the Shade Silk Robe is in my top ten favorite items list. It's an ALL/ALL robe.
nothing like watching everyone ask me how my "wizard" is carrying around a sword.
I can think of another great reason to do this quest no matter what level. Faction, yes the erudite necro/sk or whatever he is at the docks in Tox is great for faction too..but with this you not only get faction, but you get something in return. Nothing much but better than just faction or a few coins. Just a thought.
