dropped off a stone ward in the hole today
the drop rate may suck but i have seen them drop in LDON's 60+ and seen them drop in POM and in CoM also have seen them drop in vxed and most of your GoD zones so the rarity is not much its more of a matter of random drops and which word some seem to be alot more than others

killed things in cazic for 6 hours and gave up would lke to know what these drop off of please please help me =)

what in Cazic Thule did it drop off of imo.
We had one of these drop in Cazic Thule while doing the gnome quest :)

This isn't gonna be as much help as you might like, but I've been doing the shammy epic of late and picked one up. I'm reasonably sure it came from either CoM, or The Hole.
Drops in CoM - unfortunately I didn't know how valuable it was and sold one for 200p :(

Last night I was looking through a NPC merchant when I see words...of AWARENESS!! 7 pp! I think OMG! and envision 100's of level 50 necros lining up to offer me their first born to get these words. Then I go to the bazaar...and there are 6 copies for sale.
Anyway, don't be scamed if someone tries to sell you awareness for 10K. I think the drop rate has increased.

Still don't know where they drop but I bought in Bazaar from a Trader for 3k on Karana Server.
Luckily my first, and to date only, attempt at researching Demi Lich was successful (at 182 research skill Necro with a Geerlok automated quill).
So far with necro spells I am one success for two tries for Emissary of Thule, one success for one try at Demi Lich, one success for one try for Augmentation of Death and one failure for one try for Devouring Darkness (as soon as I failed someone advertised spell for 2k, offered 1k2 and got spell).
I agree Words of Awareness are stupid rare... while Emissary of Thule has dropped in price due to researching from previously 40k+ to a current 3k approximate people still sell Demi Lich spell for 15k or more because of the ludicrous rarity of these words.
My guess is they drop but just off a mob or mobs in a vastly underused zone, like maybe The Deep, where almost no one ever goes.
So the words do drop, I just wish someone would say what mob they drop off of and in what zone.

As far as I can tell they don't drop at all never have seen them for sale and no one in my guild has ever seen them drop. Could explain the outragous price for the spell it creates Demi-Lich. Which is a rare drop but "suposedly" can be made. Hey EQ! How bout you add these words to the game now?
