I went and got this tonight for the heck of it. Mob spawned on the 2nd clearing. He wasnt in the room though, he was on the first landing, going down the stairs and to the left. Dropped shell first kill. This does work from inventory, you dont have to equip it. Its a neat toy but doesnt seem to do a whole lot of extra damage reverse charm kiting but its cool to have.

Like the post below said, the most western room on the map. Once you enter, clear it and clear the landings going down the stairs.

Ran through Nadox to get this for a druid alt, 'smith was up in main room when I arrived, cleared the whole area (no luck with drop) and he stayed away but after 2nd clear he spawned on left stairs and dropped the shell. I think that's above average luck on the RNG - happy alt.

Yes it does say Druid, but does not say must equip. Some items do say the class, but you can still click from inventory. Just looted one myself as I was passing thru nadox. But as always.. Noted.. Thanks

it is marked "can equip" which means in order to use it, you have to be able to equip it.

As of July 12, 2004, this item functions properly and will haste both the summoned bear and charmed pets. The inability to haste the charmed pets was a side effect from a quick patch fix to halt an exploit that involved magician charming, I believe.

This item tends to sell for 5-7k on Karana server, and it can also be solo'd fairly easily by druids via root-dotting or charming a pig. It's not a common drop, though, so be prepared for a bit of a camp.

As of april 14th this item seems to only work on the summoned bear pet. I REALLY hope its a bug related to the targeting changes that were made and that it will be fixed. If it doesnt then this item has gone from MUST HAVE for druids that use charm to worthless for almost anything other than tribute to the people who used it only for its effect.

<update> This was fixed and it now works on charmed pets again as of the patch on april 21 2004

I noticed the same problem. However, I did not get a message saying I could not cast on them. I would target my pet, try to click this, and the pet would detarget, and I would get a message saying I must select a target for the spell.

The cast spell doesn't work either. If this is an intentional nerf, they should have mentioned it, since its basically HUGE, in the effect it has on classes who charm solo.

Why do most of the threads I see on these forums somehow turn into flames, or class bashing? The posts falling under a given item should give information about that particular item. Now, as far as this little neck item is concerned, I was given one by a guildie (thanks Ubnce) and it not only had better stats than the smoothmetal torque I was wearing, it also has the pet haste spell, which, as someone previously mentioned, not only frees up a spell slot for me, but also allows me to quickly cast a spell which usually takes a long time to load up (about 1 minute). So, this item is particularly useful to me, as a druid. As far as those people who bash druids, or any other class for that matter, I feel that every class has its pro's and con's. Sony/Verant has done a pretty good job of levelling the classes (sorry if you warriors have been getting the shaft lately). If there was any one "best" class, then everyone would want to play that, and we wouldn't have any well rounded groups. The one thing that I can't understand, though, is why I, as a 56 Druid, am unable to solo a mob who is a 51 druid (corrupted brownie)? What's up with that?
Anyways, please, everybody stop whining about who does or doesn't have an easier time gaining levels or making platinum, and let's all just try to have fun, and level and make platinum as best we can.Smiley: oyvey

Druids are fun!
# Jul 08 2003 at 10:10 AM Rating: Excellent
There was a time that I had MANY druid friends leave the game or start a new character because the druid class became useless as the game advanced to a higher level game. I hung in there and now the game has adjusted to where druids are a valuable addition to any group, especially in certain situations. That was a pretty chitty time period to go through trust me.

I have done things with my druid that no other class could pull off, i.e. killing a 6 mob train that ran over me in Maidens plus the mob I had been fighting. 2 Ice Burrowers at once in WW etc. Why? All for the challenge of it. Yes druids have a lot of luxuries but I can reflect back on a key time of my 3 1/2 years of playing EQ; It was the time period when druids were not needed for anything in groups because they had nothing to offer at the time. All I could do was solo and even that was very time consuming. Or port...

When I read postings that bash the druid class I simply dont understand why. First of all, I don't bash any class because you appear to be a very poor sport or a person who expects things in life when you do. Chit just go start that class if you feel it is so easy or better off. Second, No one seems to bash the Enchanter class even though the game has made them the most valuable of all and one that can make the most cash.

I love my Evil Drood and am glad I hung in there with him because the game is very fun now and offers more choices in what I can do on a daily basis. No one says you can not play one.

Usefull Item
# Mar 07 2003 at 12:44 PM Rating: Excellent
In the eyes of a drood who knows how to pet up, this item is godlike, saves you a spell slot, a rather annoying spell slot at that, one that takes forever to load and is useless to ya till ya remeber to cast it again, since i play on a pvp server and 75% of the time when im in pop i have a pet, and when u can die in an instant one spell slot saved literally means life or death, I would put a heavy price tag on this boetch cause it just plain rules. Priceless to those who realize it.

#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 28 2003 at 2:29 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) ok first off put the crack pipe down , wizards have long been more important to traveling with TL's than druids.. secondly a druids main role at least in the end game is patch heals , Protection(blessing) of the nine, and that nifty new nuke called summers something ..
RE: to questmaster
# Feb 28 2003 at 10:19 PM Rating: Decent
Patch heals? well, maybe in their 50s yes, but once they hit the 60s Druids are no patch healers.

You either have never grouped with druids at higher level or you dont know the class at all.

My regular group has no cleric but we do have an excellent druid that does a great job at keeping the group alive. The group hunts mainly in HoH and BoT and the mobs here don't pinch either!

Not to mention Druids are great Pullers with their new harmony spell. :)

As for the item.. pretty decent! :)

I believe he means in raid situations, druids aren't too good in a complete heal rotation, as they only complete heal for 75% so its not really a complete, this shorts your MA a few hundred hp.
RE: to questmaster
# Mar 06 2004 at 8:24 PM Rating: Decent
Druids do commonly add in a Ch rotation because unless your heal is landing below the 25% mark it will still have teh ability to heal as much as it can. I was one of the 3 CHer's on a VI raid in Akheva Ruins. We were sucessful on teh raid too and its debateable if they could have done it with out me, though id doubt we'd have tryed. So yes druids do Ch and yes it is important. most of the time in grps i can be the MH as long as there is a slower the druid heals tend to be ebough its only when agro shifts that the druid cant heal enough all around.
RE: to questmaster

I regularly am in a druid CH rotation on the MT or ramp tank. In the past this may have been considered rediculous, but now with HA3 AHA3 it can have a big influence on spotting the MT between cleric CHs. (with HA3 AHA3 KR = 5569 TR = 3480)

And on to the real point of this thread... this item is clickable from inventory. It is by far one of the most useful items a druid can get from LoY. Right click haste for DC pet, or charmed one saves alot of time when you are running short on spell slots (aka always for druid in group). This item is soloable but is quite rare. So unless you are grinding exp I'd reccommend buying one in Baz.

I have been in CH rotations for a lot of fairly hard hitting mobs, Doomshade, Rumblecrush, Vindi and all giants leading up to and including AoW.

I have kept a MA alive for about 60% of a Rumblecrush fight on my own, he was slowed but thats still pretty much chain healing.

The main trouble with a druid CH is not the fact it heals less (just under 4.7k to a clerics 7.5k) its the extra mana cost. Druid 75%CH costs 600 cleric CH costs 400, that makes a big difference in a long fight like AoW, druids need to use rod's and have a necro pump mana to them to keep them going a long as a cleric.

In a regular xp group druids have the problem of no heal over time. A puller gets back to your group on 30% health and either they die or you heal them and pray you have a sk/pally MA to get the aggro off you before you die, and if they do die, you have to ask outside the group for a res.

As for the summers something its Summers Flame 1400 nuke at level 64, we also get Winters Frost 1550 at level 65. My best crit with these is around 3400, wizards can do over 6k on a crit, mages over 4k (maybe more - I've never played one). You dont even seem to know what our best nuke is yet your telling us what our role on a raid is. We still have some excellent debuff spells and the best fr/cr and regen spells. Also MGB combined with Spirit of the Wood is powerful enough to change the outcome of a raid when fighting those aoe mobs like the MBehemoth in PoI, as is radient cure against the likes of Grummus although thats not druid only.

Although this all has nothing to do with this item - I could use one of these myself for hasting up my charmed pets, this spell has such a slow recast time its a pain to med it up.

you misunderstand the 75%... the heal can heal at most 75%, but it doesn't heal them up to 75% of their health. so... if they're at 25% they'll be at 100% after heal... and if they're almost at 0% they'll be slightly above 75%. get it? =)

i am a 61 druid and believe me, if druids get their stuff together before going into a raid situation we are very valuable at healing, yesterday we went and took out all the nameds in PoS to get flagged for BoT WITHOUT a single cleric, 3 full groups had a druid in eack group, just got our healing in the proper rotation and the main tank never got under 50% health, so never underestimate the powers of the treehugger, especially if we have the aa's to draw extra life from the woodland creatures in these types of zones such as PoS.

What is it with druids gettin sweet stuff like this.....what other class can farm gear out of umbral mobs that are the ONLY ones that dont summon. Also there has been a ton of stuff for them in pop. I just dont understand, if your not a druid then your road is harder in EQ.
RE: WTF
# Jun 29 2003 at 7:13 PM Rating: Excellent
you've never tried to solo an ely have you? its near impossible, take forever and a day to kill one by your self, and if your not lvl 55 your better off getting into a group to get the ely gear, and then you got to /random the loot, witch drops maybe once every 10 or 15 kills.

look at how much harder it is for a druid to get thier good gear then most other classes, its not easy.

and yeah it may be alittle bit easyer for a druid to lvl up, but thats only after lvl 35 when you get the aoe dd spells, and trying to get to lvl 35 grouping and root/dotting isn't the easyest task either.

and once you hit your mid 50's you need to group again anyhow cuase the mobs have way to many hp's to kill alone, and try to find a group at lvl 51, damn near impossible, no one wants a druid at that lvl, so tell me its an easy class, all classes are harder/easier in some perspective.

Actually it isn't near impossible, I was soloing them at 45. The key word for druids is: PATIENCE.

The only problem I had was that it was near impossible for me to pull single, but when I did I had little problems with KEI and 200+ wis. Just be patient.

I'm disappointed in druids that dare complain about the 'difficult life' we lead. Most of these people are correct, we do have it easier than most. We can root-rot from the time we're 14, and we can kite from level one. It doesn't matter if we spend 3 hours waiting on a group, because we can spend those three hours soloing some XP in the meantime. Classes like warriors and other group-dependants don't have that luxury; if they can't get a group, they spend X hours wasted.

So. Just my 2cp. If I find any more whiny druids, I'll bite their tails.

Oh. And for 50s, try the blood ravens in PoN. You might be able to fear kite them

Ok i tried soloing elysians at 55... lemme tell you, you gotta EARN those drops i gave up after two hours after the elysian elder jumped me (i think druids have like 10 HP more the enc ;p) and guess how many i killed? FIVE thats it guess how many drops i got? NONE... just listen to Dance Dance Revolution ok?

You really sound like a scholar with comments like "omg stfu", Quaan.

Sorry but a druid's life is not as easy as you make it out to be. Elysian is barely decent armor, and all the truly good stuff is * not * soloable by any class, most of it requires a group or a raid to even have a chance of getting.

RE: WTF
# May 20 2003 at 2:37 AM Rating: Decent
You are correct, druids can solo mobs for 'awesome armor' and exp. It was also easier to level my druid than any other class I have played. What's your freakin point? Maybe you should have been a druid.
RE: WTF
# Sep 14 2003 at 7:00 PM Rating: Decent
His point was to answer the whiny druid above complaining it took so long to solo elysians and that they didn't drop armour every freakin drop.

Also, for those that can't solo them.. try asking the people there if you can either join em or even to loot that drops they don't require.

I have on many occasions sent tells to druids bound there when amour dropped. I have a complete set of elysian armour (tho I don't wear it all), and I kill them when I want some peace and quiet and low risk levelling. This allowed the druids that couldn't solo to go kill in zones that they could solo effectively in and gate back when something dropped.

I would rather see a fellow player get an item then watch it rot..

Well, lets see.. This isn't Luclin, I don't see why druids farming in Umbral makes a diffrence.

A lot of stuff for druids in PoP..? I just don't understand what the heck you're trying to say here. There is a lot of items for all classes in PoP /boggle

If you envy a druid so much, go make one.
(ie - if their road is that much easier as you claim.)Smiley: banghead

PS - This is a really nice item, it would be nice in Chardok and Sirens when charming to save a little mana. /grin
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 28 2003 at 12:19 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Hmm, perhaps because druids can track named pops, and send in druid loot? Its the first week, and I have seen plenty of good items for many classes.
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 27 2003 at 11:17 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) dude i'm not surprised druids are still getting good stuff in LoY just like they did in Pop, mainly because Pop KILLED druids it almost ELIMINATED there one reason for being, which is porting. this is verants way of evening out the weigh scale
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 28 2003 at 9:52 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Yeah, and that totally killed their ability to quad-kite, track and farm.
RE: WTF
# May 26 2003 at 4:56 PM Rating: Good
We have our drawbacks as well, we lack hp we lack armor with decent AC as we are a class that's convited to leather. Sure you can count the benefits of being a druid, and yes there are a few advantages compared to other classes like versatality and our ability to quad. (and we aren't the only class that can quad, or do AE-spell hunting. Our abilities are severly limited in indoor situations and we are quite frequently neglected for grouping as they prefer the cleric shammy or chanter that is also looking for group.
So let us take elysians and get some nice armor and exp from them, while you group in one of the planes or dungeons and get your items and exp there. And remember that when you take out 10-20 mobs with your group, some druids just have finished their elysian (mobs have around 20k of hitpoints and it's not that fast dotted away) and are medding back up. So yes they could have gotten 4 pct for that kill, but how long did it take? You could have gotten about the same amount in your group. So are we the druids the envy of the world? Are we so much Uber towards other classes cause we can solo some high lvl mobs? I doubt it. No we are just trying to have fun and make progress as almost all other ppl in game do, so stop whining and try to have fun instead. having fun is what the game is all about anyway.

First off know that this spell effect, when cast normally at least, is only for your pet. A very nice spell when you have a pet though. Also the spell has a very long recast delay when cast normally, this would be a wonderful item just to save a spell slot when you would be using it.
