i have killed like 1000 giants(no kidding)in WW
and have yet to see a forest loop (
Lucky me
# May 03 2001 at 1:13 AM Rating: Decent
Camping the giant camp at 19 in full group, two dropped out of first six giants. I won the roll on both (but group voted that i didn't deserve second). Didn't see another loop the entire time we were there... what luck.

I don't think they have any particular creature they drop from. I got one off of a Tump... a lowly little tump... this is a giant I can almost solo. Again as mentioned the rest of the loot isn't all that bad. The grubdigger sold for 30pp at a vendor, the tunic for 50, and the tree flayer for 10. I think the drop time on these is just fairly rare... so far I have seen 3 drop, 2 have been from tumps, 1 from a Hillock. Just luck of the draw guys. Pick a giant, Beat it down, chances are gonna be about the same.
Standard Price...
# Apr 30 2001 at 8:08 PM Rating: Excellent
I play on Brell, and the standard price people are asking is 500pp. I have bought several for 400pp however. (I traded a Platinum Ruby Veil for one as well, I value those at 500pp)
Greenwoods
# Apr 12 2001 at 2:47 AM Rating: Default
We hit the fort around 1130 mts, first giant we took down was a greenwood then an evergreen and after watching the bodies almost decay we looted em and bam first body had the loop. Camp a success. Thanks Grimscale and Ehlonna for the assist.

Greenwoods!
# Apr 08 2001 at 5:42 PM Rating: Default
I've been hunting in Warsliks Woods for the last day, and so far the 1 forest loop i've gotten and every other article of good loot has come off of greenwoods, not saplings or evergreens.
RE: Greenwoods!
# Apr 10 2001 at 4:40 AM Rating: Good
Just to post the statistics so far: At this time i have killed 88 forest giants. Of those 88, 12 have been saplings (which i avoid since they no longer give me xp) 39 have been greenwoods, and the remaining 37 were evergreens. I have recieved 1 forest loop, it off of a greenwood. Furthermore, i've gotten 5 of the weapons, all fo them also off of greenwoods. (They were visible as wielded even before the greenwood was killed.) I have yet to get a lumberjack's cap. Oddly, all of this loot came in a 6 or 10 stretch of the giants out of the total 88 (make that 89 now) that i've slain. Those are my findings so far. I'm betting the programmers set the chance of all of these items to a nice, round, 1%

Well, I hunted giants in Warlilks for 3 days. After i got my second forest loop off of the giant that was almost exactly my 200th, i took it as an omen and stopped keeping statistics. To that point, everything good i got off of forest giants came from the greenwoods, with the evergreens occassionaly dropping an aditional gem or bit of jewelry. That's my experience.

Drop Rate

umm is it droped for Frequenty off higher lvl Giants ??? like the ones in BW ?
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 21 2001 at 7:20 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) this is the best earing for a druid till lvl 60! why do i see it for 500-600pp... these people are crazy... i broke down and sold my two for 700...
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 03 2001 at 3:01 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) *sigh* another method by which up-and-coming players could get a substantial cash reserve in a reasonable amount of time destoryed by high-level greed and cowardice.
A new Velious earring is out...

With the exception of two new diety-based earrings with 4 WIS and some other stats, there is a better earring, by far: the Elder's Earring. It has 7 WIS and 25 Mana. It drops in Skyshrine, and Allakhazam's DB says you will need level 60 to get it. Except for diety based earrings, however, the only reason for the drop in the prices of loops is due to the huge supply and low demand.

When I first started playing on Bertox in August of 2000 these went for 700-1000 plats each. Now with so many higher lvls farming them and twinks they are droping fast. The cheapest I've seen was two for 500 plats. On average they seem to go from 350-500 plats. I just got my first last night and hope to get 3 more. Gotta twink my ranger a bit!!

Why? that should be obvious

nothing worse than a druid ******** about how unfairly his class gets treated.

I just went to Warsliks Woods today, only killed 3 Forest Gaints, and got a Forest Loop on my third kill. I think it was just luck.

Do they fall off any giants or just specific ones in Warsilik Woods?

You know, if you just look up the page a bit, it lists every single giant that can have the loop and which zone that giant is in.

Frequency of Forest Loops
# Jan 16 2001 at 7:35 PM Rating: Decent
I've been hunting in the Frontier Mountains for the past few days, killing mountain giants. I've mainly killed Hillocks and Tumps. I saw one loop during the entire time (as compared to several leg choppers, tree flayers, etc). I'd estimate we've killed at least 100 giants, so that gives you some idea of how rare the loop is.

Still, I can't complain. I didn't win the roll for the loop, but the experience isn't bad, and the other loot is pretty good. It's almost all vendor loot, but you can sell the Giant Foreman's Tunic for over 50pp to a vendor, and you can sell the Leg Chopper for over 30pp to a vendor. Each giant can drop up to around 4pp or 5pp (more commonly 1pp or 2pp, though), so it's definitely a profitale enterprise, even if you don't get a loop.

Having hunted from level 28 to level 33 with my Cleric, and now starting again at level 30 with my Paladin, I have to say you're not hunting the right giants.

Virtually every loop I saw came off of a Brae or Craig. With my Cleric, I saw nine and won the rolls on three of those. (Traded one for Ro Legs for my Pally, can't remember what I traded the other one for. The third I'm still wearing.)

With my Paladin, in two days of hunting I've seen, and won the roll on, one loop. Again, it came off a Brae. I'm planning on passing the loop up to my cleric, so she can be wearing two of them again. This is still the best earring for healer classes next to the uber-loot. The idea that this is now dropping in price (on Xegony anyway) to 600pp is silly.

Oh, on a side note... you need to improve your Firona Vie faction. My Paladin gets over 60pp for the tunics and over 40pp for the Leg Chopper. Grubdiggers & Treeflayers sell for 12pp.

These are dropping to 600p , I bought one for 500. Great if you need the WIS otherwise there are so many new vellious rings better for mellee,

Well, on Drinal, due to farmer, the price on Loops has gone way down. I've seen them in NFP auctioned for as little as 200pp, and I've even seen them on vendors(the vendor sells them for 1k). It's really sad, almost, that Drinal is so heavily farmed that these loops are 200pp, and you can't sell a mithril bp for more than 400pp. I know, I've tried.
evergreens
# Jan 12 2001 at 11:02 AM Rating: Decent
OK ive hunted in ww for like 6 lvls from 22 to 28 and killed like 200+ giants last night i finally got a loop of an evergreen.I think and have been told that only evergreens drop loops and very rarely not saplings or greenwoods .
RE: evergreens, Greenwoods?
# Jan 27 2001 at 9:07 AM Rating: Decent
Many people have told me that greenwoods not evergreens drop. But WW is wrong zone for these, not common there.

Forest Loop
# Jan 11 2001 at 4:56 PM Rating: Good
Just in case anyone is wondering, I have killed over 250 forest giants in WW and have looted only 3 loops, and I have been told that I have been lucky! These are quite rare and very desirable. I have seen several 45+ level chars try to get one for several hours, only to get frustrated and leave.
RE: Forest Loop
# Mar 06 2001 at 3:41 PM Rating: Default
I had camped the Giant Fort in Frontier Mountains for weeks on end, and have only seen two drop. I lost the rolls on both, eh, such is luck, sometimes. If you come across any, they are well worth the trouble, though. I finally got hooked up by some 50+ players who took a liking to my chutzpah. They dragged me out to Burning Woods and let me loot their kills. I'll never forget their kindness when I not only came across one loop, but two in the same night, as well as countless other gobs of loot. They let me keep it all, laughing at my astonishment at the gear I walked away with. It pays to be respectful and know how to spell, I guess, eh?
