Well i did not exactly kill this guy as my level is to low .. 22 SK..
But my brother somewhere in the 35 did kill hadden for it.. and gave me the earring..
I must say this is a very nifty one .. its fun to explore underwater and fight whatever and not worry about breathing because you breath water instead of air :-)
Only question i have is .. how the hell do i regain stamina when i am under water.. i do absolutely nothing and still use stamina
i can go sit and camp underwater .. somehow.. i still use stamina not swimming at all..
Eh? youre kidding. You dont have to worry about drowning, at all. and for those of us who arent mages or classes who can cast eb, it lets us go places we couldnt normally go
Another zone this is a must is Kedge Keep. Seems a multitude of classes has an epic step that involves Kedge. Nothing worse than worrying about that flashing Enduring Breath buff icon while Phinny is whacking your ***** Also, mobs can't dispell this item in the middle of underwater combat.
And there are a fair few of underwater zones at the higher lvls and EB is a must.
Sirens Grotto is one that comes to mind. And a lvl 65 who wants to solo there needs an EB item (if they wanna kill the mobs in the water anyway) and 1-2k for the earing is not much;)
Well, I got this today, sat around waiting for him like an hour, talking to guildies. All of a sudden a caster pops up from nowhere, he must have been expecting him to be up because he logged before I could send a tell. I figured he must be popping soon so I cast all my good buffs, waited like 10 minutes, then Haddan popped, conned light blue. I cast Harmony of Nature on Rephas(conned light blue) and Axe Broadsmith(conned dark blue), just in case. Remembering the debate of whether pulling him into the water increases your chances of getting the earring, I snared him and went to town, making sure to pull him in the water, but not deep enough that we were swimming. After he died, lo and behold, a fishbone earring. Count this as another testament that he does seem to drop it more often when in the water, but it's by no means solid proof. Some of my guildies are going to camp him, I told them about pulling him into the water, so hopefully we'll get confirmation one way or the other.

Been checking this camp now often to hopefully get a couple of these for our guild members, but always someone was parked waiting for him to spawn. Yesterday I lucked out. Not a soul around. So I waited, not knowing his spawn time. EQ repopped their zones while everyone remained in game , and after pop instantly Haddan was standing there. So I killed him . Took one nuke of "wildfire" and he was dead. My lucky loot was "a fishing pole" and 7 silver!!. SO I checked times. It was approx 4:20 when he popped. Around 7pm I check the camp again, again no one around. So I waited, and waited, Meantime out of boredom I would send a nuke to Rephaas (name?) who stands over across the water by a firepit. Did this quite a few times. He would drop fishing poles, bait, fishscales, fresh fish, grilled rat ears (lore) Axe Broadsmith who stands in the little building was amiable so I left him alone. I had brought bait and with them all dropping Fishing poles I fished too. (Skill now 195) Finally at 9:19 Haddan popped again. One nuke he's dead.. My loot .......Another darn fishing pole !!!! 7 gold and some silver this time. So now I have like 8 fishing poles, some broke or I'd have more. Still no earring. Going to go check him again here in a few. He has to drop this sooner or later (I would hope)
I was wondering if while waiting can't you kill the mage, and then the axe guy. He he pops you kill him too? I'm a lvl 47th SK. You think this would be troublesome for me? I got backup. a lvl 44th cle that can come along with me on this deal. How quick do the mage and axe guy respawn? I need to go to Kedge Keep soon so I might as well take some time to get this. Aha, and the PoK Qeynos Stone leads where? Don't want to pop inside qeynos itself and die from guards.
I do not know if this is true, but it is quite convincing to me. After camping hadden several varying times, and killing him with a buddy, although being able to solo him, i got no earring. After the 6th time, I almost gave up, and idea came to me, why not pull him into the water? So next pull i get a wizzy to take out chanter, so i cant safely pull Hadden into the lake, to the point where he is swimming, and kill him. TADAAAAH, a great sense of accomplishment and new great item. I dont know if this will work every time, but i got earring on 7th try when i killed him IN the water. Good luck to getting this item, and NO im not selling it unless this is verified that pulling him into the water guarentees getting the earring.
My forth try, somebody told me to do this. Was using my ogre to kill him before, no adds. my druid, is lvl 39, so i figured, kill him. trade to the ogre. snare, swim, root dot dot, wait. (eb leaves) i run out of breath before this guy dies, i go catch my breath. (only 1 fishscale before my fishing pole broke) roots break, he chases me out of the water, and back. i guess he got his breath, long story to short. killed him under water, and no earing. still camping when i can get him.
Ahma Bigmeetshield ogre 45 bashes He hit my caster now i gotta kill 'im
Camped him for about 4 hours last night. the best part was.. I took a 45 minute break where I logged off and went for a drive, then I came back, and noone was there! 10 minutes later, he's dead, and I have my EB item..
Gonna try my luck at Bergurgle and soloing in the Grey now, hope that goes well.
Kekkou 52 Cleric on Terris
EDIT: forgot to mention.. I got my begging to 13, because there was nothing better to do. You can either beg from the Axe guy or... 'a boat'
just something to do while you are sitting there, I guess
I'll tell ya how lucky I was! Upon returning from Jaggedpine thru Qeynos Hills, I decided to see if he was up. Lo and behold he was! Conned cyan to me (TLC on FV server), so I decided to give it a shot. Sorry to do that to a fellow Northman, but that ear ring is goin ta waste on him! He went down, I got the ear ring! No campping, no Trivial Loot Code! That's luck!!!
I assume you are calling the "Cyan" color what I am used to hearing referred to as "light blue." That means that you still get xp from the kill, just not as much from a dark blue con. The TLC does not effect creatures that you get xp from. Soooo, if he conned green to you, the TLC would take hold. Hadden is 28 or 29, which means that you could be up to your 44th season before it would TLC. Your post shows you were 56th season, but if he was light blue to you, you must have been in your (approx.) 44th season when you killed him.
Take heed, my fellow Norrathians...if you walk the realm of Firiona Vie, you must be wary of this thing still. I have a 54th season character and he just TLC'ed Hadden a short while ago. I was told by a friend that Hadden did not TLC because they read the post above me...I didn't believe it, but I wasn't careful enough with my pet this time and--at the very least--was able to justify this response due to my ill fortune.
---edit---
After reading the above post two more times, I think what he meant to say that SINCE Hadden conned light blue to him, he would "give it a shot." Everything I listed above still holds true, however. I just wanted to clarify what he said so nobody else tells a friend there is no TLC on this item. LOL
If it is like my "Runnin shoes" i got from the gnome in rathe area...it is a click effect (any lvl can proc it) is my thinkin. but I need to get mine to tell ya tru.
good luck, and good hunting Ahma btw on saryn server
should be an automatic effect, no proc involved as it is not a weapon (although being on Legends it may be different, I dont know.) Try swimming under water to see if your breath meter comes up.
LOL. I too omw to jaggedpine again from everfrost. Chk tracked didnt know the fools name but saw someone i didnt recognize near axe (great rangers cant sort by distance). At 52 green as hell, sent tell to my friend that has camped him "is this EB earing guy named hadden?" answer "yes" ALLY to me hmmm. /smack smack. Goes down quick, no FRIGGING earing not even a copper. BAHHHH. glad as hell i didnt sit for 6 hrs waiting for him to pop, got lucky on mob, but no earing.......think ill stick to fishscales and give rebreathers to my alts
This is probably by far the easiest, tradeable, monk wearable, permanent effect EB you can get (there are only 4 others; the rebreather, shissar eye earring, sleeves of the kelpmaidens, and the ornately runed shell necklace). Of course this is THEORETICALLY easy to get, you still have to find him and have him drop the ring... but he's pretty easy to defeat by anybody mid 30's or higher, assuming you can find the guy. Compare that to things that drop in The Grey or Siren's Grotto... or finding a skilled tinker and shelling out 2k or more (and the rebreather weighs 10 stones, not exactly something a monk would want!). I'd like to try to get one! I already got my purple headband, and that's all I care about Qeynos faction for anyway.
Well I had to kill him 5 times to get it. Spawn time is not exactly 5 hours 20 minutes, but seems to vary to anything up to 6 hours.
The first 4 kills I just rooted him and burned him where he stood. The fifth time, I tried something different - I dragged him out into the deeper water and killed him there and he had the earring!
Yes, it may be coincindence, but who knows, killing him in the water may improve your chance of him dropping the earring. I thought I'd mention it for future campers to try out.
Oh, and for those who are faction conscious, head over to Blackburrow and whack puppies to get that faction back in line. Heck, its kinda fun running through there at 48th and smacking out some revenge on those puppies from my low-level days.
I am super lucky. I was running to Jaggedpine to buy some cheese this morning before work. As is my habit, I checked track as I ran through Q hills. I was totally shocked to see him on track and light blue to my 39 ranger. I did a quick who, thinking someone had been camping him. There where only 3 players in the zone and the other 2 were level 10's. WOOT! So I tracked him down and hacked him down. He had the earring. No camping for hours on end. Very lucky!
This earing is a nessesity if your going to fight in KK without it your will drown cuse it will wear off and the chanter is gonna be oom and yoru gonna die id pay 3kfor it
sat for about 3 hours and went LD. Came back to find he had popped during mY LD. lucky a druid was there that i am friends with and didnt know about loot ) hehe. and this is my first hadden kill and WOOHOO!!!! dropped earring. i traded for 1k and golden chitin bracer. which has kinda ripped me off but ah well! ) i can always try for another one tomorrow
I must have the WORST luck with this guy. I have camped him on and off for 3 weeks and have killed him 11 times. NO earring. I have at least 9 fishing poles though, lol. Anyways after spending this much time camping him, I am not going to quit. I will eventually end up with the earring. (cross my fingers)
1st time some of you say, consider yourselves lucky. :)
Get a druid friend to cast enduring breath on you and go to the grey. Convince one of the soloers there to let you loot the snake organs and get the quest necklace instead. MUCH easier then spending the time camping this dude.
I don't mean to be so negative, but this is the worst camp I've ever done since I started playing EQ. Not only does it take ALL DAY (or all night!), you constantly have people fighting with you for it. Someone always ends up walking by during the last 45 minutes before the random spawn time, when you've been there over FIVE HOURS already holding your camp, and begins to hound you with questions on the last time he died. High level people who have it on timers, log in, and try to out damage you. (If this happens to you, turn on your logs and load a level 1 nuke if you can to get first damage.)
Regardless, bad things happen at this camp. The evil in people comes out in all it's horrible glory, and it's just wrong.
I may always be a little bit sad that the jerks, and yah I mean jerks, who would take the Hadden kill from a server crash (before the delayed random spawn patch) that knocked me off my camp or bullied me off the camp always seemed to get the drop, laugh at me, and gate. I would have been very proud to have gotten the earring myself since I was capable of it, but it was not to be.
If you can buy this earring, do it. Just buy it. Save yourself the time, the frustration, the negative faction hits, and the disappointment of watching your fellow players turn into school yard tyrants.
I stood through this camp about 6 times. I was finally put in contact with a very nice fellow who was selling his earring. I paid at bit over 2k, and in the end, was glad to do so. I have used it innumerable times since then.
Fishbone Earring has a stat of +3 Dex and permanent charges of Enduring Breath. Big Deal! And people are willing to pay 3k for this? Come on, people! There has got to be a better way to spend your time than camping this schmuck for an earring!
When you're fighting underwater or in The Grey or swimming through Cazic Thule, you will be very happy that you don't need to worry about REcasting enduring breath in the heat of battle, or while running/swimming. You don't want to be the guy screaming for a recast while taking hits because you can't breathe. And even if you're the caster, it could be impossible if not at least inconvenient to have to refresh yourself.
I have to admit 1.5-3k is a lot in this poor ranger's opinion, and camping it is a total pain, but it's at least worth the camp for those situations - however rare - when you really need it.
I just logged in this morning for a 30 minutes wakeup game before work. As I was parked in QHills, I decided to have a look for this "Hadden-guy" that so many people talk about.
When I came to the lake, Hadden was not there - I got a tell from a Guild mate, so I stood there chatting.
Well... what should I say. POP. There he was. As I am only level 35 and this Caster Friend of Hadden had Charmed me a few minutes before (when I killed the guy in the Fisherman's hut), I sent a call in the Guild Channel for assistance.
Hahaha stupid me. Within 30 Seconds another player was at the site and asked me to engage. I explained to him my situation.
Well.... He said "OK I kill him and I dont loot." Said that he cast ONE spell and Hadden dropped like an old bag. He realy did NOT loot Hadden. Within another 10 seconds a second guy came running. Looking for Hadden. He also left the loot to me.
So after I could finaly open the loot window, there it was. A Fishing pole, some rune, and THE FISHBONE EARING.
Thanks so much to those guys who realy do FAIRPLAY and do not KS.
(Jongmun, 35 Monk, Antonius Bayle)
P.S.: It looks like it also saved me some realy unwanted faction hits - Thanks a lot
I was camping him tonight, and spent about 3 hours sitting on the ground just looking at the hut. Then I got the urge and hopped in a canoe and spent about a minute turning it around, when I jumped out I landed on top of Hadden. I dropped him with 2 nukes and to my surprise, had an earring.
Lots of people coveted my camp, at least 4 people ran by, so you might have to watch out for KSers.
I won't be welcomed in quite a few places from now on hehe.
