Not that high level, I was lvl 54 (druid) when I started soloing the shissar stalkers in The Grey. I saw groups of lvl 45's killing them in droves while I was there. You have a much better chance of getting the organs off of the shissar revenants, though, as they are much more common off of them. You will need a group to handle them and any adds you may get wandering by.

Amulet of the Gray Wastes, click on the Hadden link above and scroll down, there is a link posted there for the quest. FYI it is a high level quest, though

today i sat for a few hours waiting for haden to spawn, while i was there a high level showed, an when haden apeared he let me have him, he also helped me with Rephas who i didn't know about, so with his help a lvl 35 got the earing on his first try, lucky me i guess, i only whish i knew before i sold it, imediatley i went to EC to see the price check and got numerouse offers, i finally settled for a little over 3k, and if i waiting long i am sure it would have went higher. the spaw is long, but well worth it, gonna camp him again, but this time keep the ring.

ooh is this earing lore? didn't remember to check while i had it on me.

Yes the earring is lore, just got it. Heres how my camp went.

Got to Qeynos Hills at 5am. No one camping Hadden?! How could this be??

9:37am-First kill must have just made a withdrawal from the bank...he had a whopping two plat on him...but no earring.

3:17pm-Second kill hmm only 7 copper this time...lame..and just as I'm about to leave his stinking stingy corpse to rot i notice a flicker of light from his left ear! Whats this?? An earring! Sweet!

Yes I did say left ear...and you old schoolers know what it means when you have just the left ear pierced...all I have to say is it's too bad he's not full blown cross-dresser...coulda had two of em. (and Before you bring up the Lore thing, yes I could have. I had two accounts there so I could talk to myself for company during this long camp)

Next camper please! Im not one to sit and farm items...once I have the item I came for I'm not gonna sit and hog the camp for more items I cant use. Even though the cash would be nice..Ill still check for him as I run through the zone just in case:)

How this thing work??
# Jan 25 2002 at 5:18 PM Rating: Decent
Is it a right clickable affect? Or on automatic once you equip it under water or in the grey?
RE: How this thing work??
# Jan 29 2002 at 9:37 AM Rating: Decent
Just got mine this morning, after keeping an eye on Hadden on and off for a couple of days...

It's an automatic effect, as long as you're wearing the earring. You don't get any kind of effect icon for the enduring breath, but once underwater you never get the "Air Remaining" meter.

Pretty nice little trinket!
Camping :\
# Jan 24 2002 at 2:09 PM Rating: Decent
I've camped this guy several times now, full camps, and I've run across some nasty players while doing so. It's pretty pitiful when someone 10-15 or more levels above me tries to come in the camp, ask me the times of last death, threaten me, and try to KS when I've been there all freaking 5+ hours. Well, whatever. I just turn the log on, ask a guildie to join me, and get first damage. But, despite all this work and aggression from other players who see me patiently camping Hadden, there has been no earring drop! 4+ spawns and no earring. :(

If anyone has or wants to sell this earring on 7th Hammer, I would be happy to buy it. The long spawn time on the camp isn't what bothers me, but I'm sick of dealing with the nastiest, low life players on the server who are too lazy, even though they're high enough level, to go to Luclin and get the quested EB amulet.

Fishing pole theory debunked
# Jan 18 2002 at 1:45 AM Rating: Decent
As others have mentioned, the fishing pole theory is bogus. I just killed him while he was holding his fishing poll and got a bottle of beer. A small consolation for 6 hours of waiting, and a rallying my guild members when a coupla punks decided they were going to try to out gun me to get the kill.

As a level 30 Ranger, he took me down to 1 bulb, and I was throwing ignite spells and weilding an Icy Blade and a Scimitar of Ethereal Energy...

6 more hours to wait...

Best X-Mas Gift Ever
# Dec 25 2001 at 5:40 PM Rating: Default
Either Verant has given me a very nice Christmas gift or I am EXTREMELY lucky. At around 10:30PM last night (yes Christmas Eve) Hadden spawned. I was camping that area for around 4 hours before he actually spawned while fighting off exhaustion from working 8 hours that day and not having much sleep the night before. Despite my heavy eyelids, I stayed awake like a child awaiting Santa. Hadden spawns and after realizing I'm attacking him with my fishing pole I have used to pass the time I throw on my Swarmcaller. As Hadden is getting hacked up, my brother walks by just in time to see Hadden go down and me looting the earring. WHAT LUCK! I can't believe I got it! OK, next step...EC. After having a handful of mixed PCs, I went to Karnor's Castle, a place near and dear to me, and auctioned it off there. Within 5 minutes I got an offer for 3k, which is correct according to a PC in KC. After a long night of waiting for my KC friend to finish up his guild raid, I finally get my 3k. So....3k later, should I go to DL and lvl up or Qeynos Hills and try my luck again. After doing the math, I came to the conclusion that Hadden would spawn again in the next 1.5 hours. I returned to QH after running through WK 60lbs overweight because his druid alt didn't have SF port. Sat down in my boat near Hadden and waited. At this point it's 4:30AM and I'm falling asleep on the couch. Hadden spawns eventually and, much to my complete and total surprise, he dropped the earring again! At this point I smiled, began to camp, and thought how that was the best x-mas gift ever.

(The above story is 100% true. Those of you who choose not to believe me out of either ignorance or jealousy are only wasting your time and possibly posting space.)

I was helping a guildmate wuth a different quest when a low level person in zone said this guys was up. I've never heard of him. My guildmate killed him and no luck, I came back later and solo'd him and his buddies and he had it on him. It's a very spcialized item, but there are a few quest out there that this would make so much easier. So I'm going to do a few underwater quest with it and started lending it out the my guild to do the same.

And on a side note, something is worth what ever a person is willing to pay for it. Putting price limits on slots isn't going to get you any gear, and you're going to sell things for less than you can get for them.

I really recommend that you go grab this item while its there. There is a new zone on Luclin that has absolutly NO air, called the Grey. There where some higher level peoples on my server ( Tholuxe ) that where offering 5k for one of these.

I was starting my camp for the ear peace and after I had been at the spot for about 10 min Hadden spawned he sat down and I started to cast and all of the sudden he was gone. Has anyone heard of anything like this happening?

If you have any info please let me know?

Still no earring
# Nov 16 2001 at 4:43 PM Rating: Decent
I am on my 56th hour of this camp and waiting for my 7th spawn of Hadden with NO EARRING. I personally think that this is a bit much for the actual "prize" at the end, I mean really all it is is EB...it would be different if there were more underwater dungeons or places that you would actually use it.../sigh. Any way, it's a matter of principle now...I'm staying till the darn thing drops.

Oh and everytime he has had the fishing pole, so im thinking that wether or not he holds it has no bearing on wether he has the earring. Just my opinion.

Fishing pole

Friendly lil inside tip I've picked up on my 2 camps of Hadden. Both times I've camped Hadden he had the Earring on him (Lucky me I guess) but each time I killed him he also had a fishing pole in his hand which he didn't drop. Collaborating with a few fellow guildies who have also camped Hadden it seems to be that each time he has the fishing pole in his hand he always drops the earring.

From what the others have said he didn't have the fishing pole each time that he DIDN'T have the earring. So from what I gather if he does have the fishing pole then you're the new proud owner of a Fishbone earring, if he doesn't well good luck to you on your next attempt. Hope this helps. =)

Hadden and the fishbone earring
# Nov 06 2001 at 2:42 PM Rating: Decent
I just got mine. I killed Hadden 3 times. I got lucky with this camp, as a Halloween event was going on in Qeynos Hills, and the karanas which would despawn most if not all mobs in the zone until the event was over. The event would end when Varsoon the Undying would pop and somone would kill him. The event usually lasted about 2 hours max before Varsoon popped and some highby farmer popped him. Then the entire zone would re-pop, and Hadden would appear. It took about another 2 hours before the event would start up again, as it would move to another zone, and eventually start back in Qeynos Hills.

Anyway, I am a level 47 bard, and killed him quite easily. His friends Rephas and Axe did not help him when I attacked, and after 3 killlings, my faction with the merchants and guards of Qeynos seems unchanged.

10 nukes, five Haddens, 23 hours = Fishbone Earring. Spawn time was about 5 and a half to 6 and a half hours. During that time I think I saw about 11 different people that would pop in occasionally to see if he was up. Only two others bothered to sit down and camp him (besides me). Just goes to show that if you really want something in this game the best way to get it is to sit down and wait.

I always wanted to get one of these earrings so I sat down and camped it tonight. I sat there, 2 hours 43 minutes later he popped by the fire. I got kinda nervous thinking that someone was going to gate in right there (before this about three different people popped in to check on him) and kill him in one shot but no one came. So tossed a nuke on him, tossed another nuke on him and he was very dead. Im a level 47 Cleric, Rephas and Axe did not assist him. He dropped no earring... So im going back in about 4 hours to kill him again and with my luck he wont have the earring again :)

If someone drops in and kills the mob, unless you hit it first their not ksing. Verrant doesnt support camping and has stated the first one to touch the mob owns it. So just make shur you hit it first and on most servers you will be fine.

RE: Basically
# Nov 30 2001 at 1:33 AM Rating: Good
Humm,I did read that if you hit it first he should be fine, implying that as long as someone is sitting there and has been waiting there an untold amount of time, you are gtg as long as you can hit the mob first. I am, perhaps too generous, but I would give the one waiting in line his opportunity before I just snatched it out of his hands. Its what one would call consideration. A fault often used in the epic quest like Ragefire's use. I guess maybe if you just happened to pop into Nagafen's lair and landed first that too would be all right? Don't think so.

Laleldil Tremulous
a simple cleric

*clarification of my position* There is Verant's definition and the players definition of KS. Verant does say the owner is who hits it first. However on civilized servers there maybe a different definition. Eg a wee little elf is camping 900 hp Mob, been there for a week or so. The mob comes and by golly the little elfie donw forgot to mem his spell! Sitting he tries to mem it up when low an behold a Mighty Mage pops in and begins to cast great magiks! Elfie jumps up and casts his mightiest spell FIRE STRIKE! Fire strike lands! GaBOOMM lands for 2kHP of damage from Mighty Mage! Mob is utterly incinerated! Now the determination of this obviously stretched senario. By Verant's definition it should be Elfie's kill, but who gets the experience and the looting rights in game engine? I'd betcha a cp that when Elfie runs up to loot his prize he'll read 'you may not loot this corpse at this time' nor did he recieve the experience for the kill. Mighty Mage got the experience and the looting rights, thus voiding Verant's position! Now it comes to the players to make a determination. I feel Elfie should have the looting rights because he was waiting for the spawn longer than Mage and that Mage was attempting to KS Elfie. But that is just MHO.
RE: Basically
# Feb 04 2002 at 10:11 PM Rating: Decent
By no means do I support KSing but by what you are saying the scenario I will present to you is totally acceptable:
Lvl 50 wizzie camps Hadden all day, his guildmate comes by to take the camp when he gets tired. Wizzie comes back later and gets the camp back. Wash rinse repeat for many days. Lets say these two, maybe 3 or 4 people just keep rotating out of the camp for a week or two. I'm sure at least a couple earrings dropped in the 56 or so spawns of Hadden in that 2 week period...
It's their camp right? Everyone should respect the fact they've been "camping/monopolizing" the Hadden spawn for all those days...
Situations like that are why Verant came up with their first agro rule.

I don't remember farming being mentioned anywhere in the above arguments... people are just asking for consideration of camps. I have now spent over 24 hours on this camp with still no earring. Someone coming up and pulling my camp just because they happened to get the first shot off is plain inconsiderate. That is the point that was being made, and YES, people should respect anothers camp.

Just my frustrated 2cp worth...

With a lvl 8 necromacer, i heard someone shout "Fishbone earring on hadden at spawn point for anyone who wants it."
I was at the ruins killing undead and when i saw that i ran. Corpse was there, so was earring.
Anyway, i got it to my 26 wiz and hopped on down to gfay(mart). He was there for a total of 1 wk(real life time) and about 10-30 min a day. on the last day, i auctioned then got tired of it, and went to lvl, 30 min after the auction someone asks how much i wanted...
so, i said 2.5k, and bam, went from 300pp to 2.8k

heh, lucky me i guess

Can a lvl 40 Ranger solo this guy to get the earring? Man I want one bad, but I heard he has a friend that backs him up named Rephas, he has a pet and charms. That's what makes me not so sure about doing this. Has anyone had any problems with his caster friend?

Well last night I was wandering through Qeynos Hills on my way to hand in some Epic stuff, when Hadden poped right in front of me.

I promptly handed his a$$ to him and guess what he droped! Fishbone Earring

My faction is still quite good, nothing a few gnolls couldnt handle.
