For over two hours the Grp of me (Ranger) Shaman, Bard, and Beastlord (though after watching him for 10minutes he was a XP leech (4 tells after each kill let us know)).

3 Hours of fighting here got us 7 Captured but no tiny...The poping of the req mob is soooo slow.

Is there something we should be killing to make these swines pop faster?
Great spell

At 51 - I am able to solo the Broken Skull Nifliks. Most are green with an occasional light blue. Standard agro range. My usual procedure of snare, root, dots, and repeat works very well. The Nifliks seems to break root sooner than most mobs so root every time dots wear off before re-dot. Obtain C3 (KEI) buff spell from a friendly enchanter to reduce medding down time. I looted both items in under an hour. Now I dot for 67 hits every 6 seconds using Immolate, Stinging Swarm, and Swarm of Pain. All stack and it really makes short work of soloing doggies in Karnors.

wow EASY

took a couple of friends and hammered this out in 20 mins. Killed 4 broken skulled Nifiliks and done.

I think talking to the dude must help with the drop rate.
Got it

Completed the quest and received the spell the other day. Did it starting at level 42, dinged 43 after about 8 hours. It took about 12 hours total, with KEI, single pulling from the shipwreck on the left, surrounded by water. Snare to pull, DoT if there's time before they hit the water (spell won't take often times if they are submerged). Get them up on the boat and there's no risk of aggro (except for trains returning from the lighthouse, which are fairly common). The loot pays for Ports and KEI easily, and with Forage mapped to the left arrow, its actually quite profitable (Foraged item range between 4gp and 5pp with 100 Charisma to the vendors in the Lighthouse). Always Levitate (Bat Wings are sold in Lighthouse).

Is it true that this spell stacks with Stinging Swarm? I can't try it yet, because Gefen is still only 43!

Hope this helps!

I finished this quest yesterday. I had been on the beach off and on for three days or so, and had a tiny niflik, and let another one rot, but didn't get a captured one. I ran into someone who actually had two captured but no tiny. He offered me his captured if I helped him get a tiny. Well, we got a tiny at the exact same moment he went LD. I waited until 10 seconds were left with the corpse and looted it. He came back, and now he had two captured and I had two tiny. Hmmm. MQ?? Well, we tried, and sure enough, it worked. He turned his captured in, and I turned my tiny and got the spell. Then we reversed and he got the spell.

I went back to the beach with another ranger friend, and helped him get one too. In about 5 hours or so yesterday, I saw four tiny and one captured. So that makes about 7 or 8 tiny over three days that I saw, for the one captured that we finally got. I think a bit of rebalancing is in order.

I also came to the conclusion (like other people who posted here) that everything on the beach is a random spawn, so just keep killing and the broken skull nifliks will eventually pop for you. If there are other rangers on the beach, and they already have a tiny, maybe they will let you loot if if they get another.
You don't have to talk to him at all.

I completed this quest after hearing about the items that needed to be turned in, and could never fogure the "mimic" question to ask, but when Iturned in the quest items, I got the spell. I hastily mem'd it, and then went back, figuring to get another for a guild mate. I got the required item on the first try, and turned them in again. I got another spell, but when I looked at it, I noticed.. it's no drop.

You say, 'Hail, Gaudric Stormwynd'

Gaudric Stormwynd says 'Greetings, Qamgine. What brings you to this forsakenrock? I have been sent here by the council ofSurefall Glade to gather information about thisIsland. This place seethes with anger and hatred, and even the familiar [winds] of Karana blow with a coldbite. So far the creatures have all proved very hostile, even to a follow of Karana. I suspect that the curse of Innoruuk has caused them be very aggressive towards all outsiders. I have been able togather some information on a new race of [insect] though'

You say, 'What insect?'

Gaudric Stormwynd says 'A strange group of ant like creatures that I've named Nifiliks seems to be native to the island. I've never encountered creatures quite like this. They seem to have a sort of Hive consciousness. They have a vast range in size. The smallest are barely an inch or two across, while the largest can be upwards of four feet tall. The larger ones seem to be able to control the smaller ones by some sort of audible communication. I've heard the strange noises they make, but have yet to [mimic] them.'

You say, 'Why do you want to mimic them?'

Gaudric Stormwynd says 'The smallest ones do not seem to have as developed of a nervous system as the larger ones. They only act on the instincts and the commands of their masters. If we're able to mimic the sounds that they make, we maybe able to control the smaller ones. If you're able to capture one of them alive and allow me to listen to its sounds I may be able to mimic them. You'll also need to bring me one of the smaller ones so I can observe its reactions.'

Broken Skull Scorpian, and Broken Skull Mosquito are PH's for a Broken Skull Niflik which will drop, at times both, a captured niflik(rat ear looking) and a niflik(pouch). Turn back into Gaudric and he gives you the spell.

Reward: Swarm of Pain

Some corrections to what you loot at the end there. You need 'A little nifilik' which looks like a piece of bat fur, not a rat ear. Second, you need 'A captured Nifilik' which is a pouch. I helped kill or killed a dozen Nifiliks and saw one captured (the pouch) and three little ones. And, BTW, the cast out survivors (CBS will sue soon) are also PHs, as they spawned in places we had pulled Nifiliks from.

Otherwise an excellent post. The rest of the details are great.

Nice spell that stacks with Stinging Swarm. That's 357 points of DoT, not bad.

The deal on the quest...
# Feb 26 2003 at 4:57 AM Rating: Excellent
Okay managed to finish the quest tonight. First speak to Stormwynd, he's to the right of the light house, in a hut by himself, has claw weapons on. Go through the little quest text, he wants a captured Nikilik and a tiny Nifilik. These are both no drop items off the Bone Skull Nifilik on the beach to the left of the light house.

Now for the important stuff. First the beach is littered with all sorts of crap ph, mostly undread trolls and skellies, human outcasts, and then bugs. Three types of bugs, misqotes, scorpions, and the nifilik.

Now most of this stuff cons green or light blue to my level 52, humans, and bugs were all KOS, as well as the skellies, but I managed to walk right past some of the trolls.

As for the nifilik, hang around the left side of the beach and run patrols from the water to the cave that leads further in. (but don't go in the cave and watch for people pulling trains out of the cave) If you hang close to the left wall you can avoid most of the mobs, but the nifilik is random. Always have track up and when you get one make your way to it but be aware of your surroundings, if your careful you can avoid just about every other mob out on the floor.

The nifilik conned both green and light blue to me, but be ready, they hit fast and well up into the 70's. I had to bring a druid friend for heals to keep the down time to minimal. I spent about 4 hours total on this quest. I got my captured nifilik right off the bat on my first kill, didn't see another, then four hours laters I managed to bad a tiny nifilik then went and turned in for the spell, which is a very nice dot in my opinion for its mana and cast time.

Fear not this is not a complete waste of time, one the nifilik drop barbs as well as bile. Which both sell well, the bile being the best seller, and I base that on a 139 cha and selling to elves in Kelethin.

You can also get lucky and score plat and jewels off the humans, got three emerals myself while doing this. So I suggest killing humans as there are several along the left wall of the beach. This keeps you near where the nifilik spawn and should bag you some loot.

Best of luck my fellow brothers and sisters, may Tunare smile upon all the trails you blaze.

Anyone know if this is No Drop? I don't plan on getting LoY this close to SWG coming out, but I'd still like my Ranger to have this spell in the interim.

Go to this link for a couple success stories and a better description of the quest. Guess all you have to do is go to the beach, which is off to the left of the lighthouse, and kill some insects. Anyways, this post has it:

OK. I killed some Nifilik's at lunch today. Everything on beach is a place holder, but you can just kill the first few mobs by the water and up by the left wall. I looted 'A little Nifilik' (won the roll between me and the two Rangers I was grouped with), now I just need 'A captured Nifilik'. Get both of these and turn them into Stormwynd (last name). It was 15-20 minute spawn times for all spawn points, and then you would also get cast out survivors, broken skull mosquitos and broken skull scorpions, all PHs for the Nifiliks (at least from our perspective, other classes probably need their drops). So kill everything in the 10 or so surrounding points and a Nifilik will eventually spawn there.

He's in the first hut from the lizard rides. I hailed him and he mentioned insects. I said 'what insect' and he said he'd like to mimic them. Then you say 'why mimic them' and he says to capture a large one and a small one (I think they're called Nifilki, or something like that, it's in his text.) I still dont' know what 'capture' means, as I didn't actually go out and try to find one. I did look on every vendor for a POKEMON BALL, LOL, or something like it that might be used to 'capture' a mob. Then I had to log.

Please, if anybody has done this quest, let the rest of us know what works!
