What I did was go north- east in Steamfont to the Minotaur-caves there. Kill all and any that moves as each kill will give faction. There is also a renegade gnome necro that gives good faction. All in all I went from threatning to doubious ( or was it apprehensive?) in two hours.

This was enough for me to do the turn-in in Ak'Anon without any charms, potions or other gee-gaws.

Hope this helps.

I am not aware of any faction being involved. If there is, it is probably acquired through standard planar progression steps (e.g. the way you get faction for Askr by killing giants, and can thus get the Tactics key).

# Aug 24 2003 at 2:41 AM Rating: Decent
i had the Wires needed for the MQ and saw someone offering 1k for em so i said sure ( easiest 1k i will ever make) but i was kinda wrong hehe being a dark elf and all i was KoS there, but i decided to try something, buy an illusion dwarf potion ( yes DWARF not Gnome that is not a typo) so i went down next to this guy and drank the potion and this time he took it and the other guy got the cloak. we tried all kinds of things invis, faction buffs, the illusion was the only thing that worked, i read somewhere on here that illusions didnt work and i just wanted to confirm that ILLUSIONS DO INDEED WORK hope this helps =)

Hehe, I love when people leave off a zero in /trader... My favorite so far was a Fungus Encrusted Hammer that was going for 150pp instead of 1.5k. So, for all you drunks and dyslexics with traders, we bazaar fanatics salute you! \m/

I think it's rude to take advantage of when people misprice things.

I've bought things that are mispriced and then kept an eye out for the seller to offer to sell it back for the original price, so they can fix their mistake. That's the right way to handle it IMO.

It's little different than if someone in a store hands you the wrong change back - don't keep it.

You shouldn't expect a reward, but I did see a guildmate we told to let someone buy back a 50k item they'd mispriced get a 15K reward for returning it.

I started doing the quest for this cloak when it was still new. I took a chance and spent 4.3K on all the quest components then camped in POI till the wires droped. I sold my first cloak for 9K. I was so happy with the 4.7K profit I did this 10 more times. Sold a total of 11 cloaks over the weekend and made about 60K. Enjoy =D
Well, business has been booming! the cost of the components to do the quest with have droped...this means if it costs 500pp for grease, 500pp for a shard, and 1-1.5K for the horn the max component cost is around 2-2.5K. So you can sell a cloak for 6K and still make a solid 4K profit. I have been selling them for about 6.9K to 7K so far. As of now I have sold 18 cloaks on the Rodcet Nife server and made over 110K in a 2 week period. Im a moron for posting this information but I am a very happy wizard and have capitalized this end of the market for a while now. I dont want SOE sueing me for monopolizing ya know.

You are so lucky, the horns sell so low on your server. I did this too at a nice profit for a while. But the people selling the horns wanted so much that it destroyed the market. Even now with the cloaks selling here for 7-8K its not unusual to seel people selling the horns for 8-9K, these people are just ridiculous. If you send them a tell they say the cloak is worth 10K and don't matter what someone is selling for now. Basically you have to wait till they drop it low enough, which takes forever and then it goes fast and the price is still too high considering the time it takes to sell the cloak and that the price may still drop more on the cloak. The profit/risk ratio isn't there with the horns so high in price on Xegony.

Location of Sanfyrd Featherhead in Ak'Anon is 2023, - 238 / just below one of the water falls. In fact you can see him from the top. I turned in the 4 parts needed and got the note. Then went to the library in PoK and took the elevator up to the top floor and found Aid Fimli there and turned in the note without ever talking with him first and got my cloak. Hope this helps.
This or Lodi????
# Jun 11 2003 at 12:29 PM Rating: Decent
Was wondering if this would be a better back slot item that the Lodizal Shell shield for a 57 War? Yes the Lodi has better AC, but the stats on this thing almost make me want to get it to use it instead. Any opinions on this matter would be appreciated.

Have the Lodi on my Rogue, and still grabbed this first chance for Str, Sta and HP upgrade. The Lodi will stay in my resist gear bag, and come out when needed for resists or swimming.

HP>>>>>All for a warrior.

Unless you are an offensive tank in which case you picked the wrong class. You want dps be a ranger or rogue, Warriors are to be beaten on.
RE: This or Lodi????
# Aug 16 2003 at 9:10 AM Rating: Decent
Just as a FYI Sta adds 4.5Hps per 1 Sta for Leather and Silk (not sure about chain) for Plate classes 1 Sta adds 6Hps per.
But that is up to 255...After 255 you basically lose about 1/2, 1Sta for Leather & Silk will then be 2.5Hps & for plate its 3.6hps.

So as a Warrior IF you already have 255Sta you would get 36Hps from the 10Sta plus the 50Hps =86Hps IF you have ND3/PE that would then be 96Hps

If your lower lvl and have like 200Sta you would get 60Hps from Sta and 50Hps = 110Hps and its doubtfull you would have the ND3/PE at that point.

For a war this is way better, Lodi is good for casters.
RE: This or Lodi????
# Jun 11 2003 at 3:45 PM Rating: Decent
This cloak is much better than a Lodi Shield for a Warrior. Warriors are all about HPs, and this cloak will give you plenty.

Lodi shields are great, my Rogue has both, but the Lodi shield is relegated to an EB item and resist gear when I need it. In your standard XP group, a Cloak of Greater Pernicity will serve you and your cleric much better.

RE: This or Lodi????
# Jul 18 2003 at 12:06 PM Rating: Decent
Ok I just don't get it. Why are hp important? I can understand stamina because it goes into an equasion but 50 hp.....whoopti do who gives a damn. Thats not even one hit from a mob who cares. I'ld rather any stat other than hp gimmie 1 more stamina or something but anything but damn hp whoopdi do. Please give me an accurace explanation no flam wars just explain it throughly.
RE: This or Lodi????
# Jul 21 2003 at 12:50 AM Rating: Decent
OK the way i see it is that stamina gives you hit points. from what i can tell 1 stamina is worth somewhere around 4.5 hit points i'm sure this is not 100% acurate but close anyway. so the 10 stamina on this item is worth around 45-50 hit points. the hit points on it equal the same doubling the total hit points on this item. 50 hit points doesn't seem like much you are right thats not even a hit from a mob. But when you add the 50hp from this and the 130 hit points from your rings and the hp from everything else you end up with ALOT of hit points. All combined together I have over 1k hit points from HP items which makes a HUGE diference in my total hit points. My total hit points make a huge diference because when in a group the more hit points i have the longer the cleric has to get a complete heal off. Add to that that when your stamina is maxed like on raids or groups where you have high lvl buffs you are mot getting any hit points from having extra stamina at all which makes the Hit points worth even that much more.

Hope that helps a bit.
RE: This or Lodi????

problem I still see is the price paid for hp gear. There are so many other stats all of which help in their own way and I think dex and agi are under rated (may have something to do with my alt monk) but when 7k for something has just 75 hp cummon I would much rather +10 to every other stat.

And i think hp from 1 stamina is different than 4.5hp but an equasion based on level because whebn I level my ac atk and hp all jump without adding 1 stat.

alas maybe I will never embrace this concept and will never effectively play a warrior because of it.
RE: This or Lodi????
# Jul 30 2003 at 7:06 PM Rating: Good
I believe hp from sta depends on level and class, however you're still not getting much per point of sta...here's an example (I'm a lev 65 bard, so a 65 war would get more hp from sta, but just an example) this info comes from my char profile here on allak: I have +50 sta from items which gives me +217 hp (not bad, but still that's 50 sta), I however have an additional +450 hp from hp items alone (my gear is basically all buyable/1 groupable so it's all in the reach of any 60+ or so char). As for other stats? yes, they help, but at 65 with 0 planar power, my stat cap is 280, with 165str and 149 dex, both can pretty much be pushed to the cap with Fo7, Diaku, and Vallon buffs alone. With avatar and wrulan and boar in addition, my agi (132) is also pushed to cap, and my sta (124) get close to the cap too. This is why many warriors favor straight hp over other stats, because alot of xp groups have a shaman and/or a chanter and/or a beastlord and/or bard who will push some to all of your melee stats near max. (my warsong of zek adds 74 str and if I chose to use it, my dex song adds 48 dex (if I don't use my drum..120 dex if I do twist in my drum), so it's easy for me alone to push those 2 stats close to max). I hope this helps ya understand why many tanks look for hp gear over stat gear (with aas you can boost all yer stats by 30 or so, and raise the cap by 25 or so)
um.... dilemma
# May 07 2003 at 11:12 PM Rating: Default
I am definitely going to wear this cloak, and being a rogue, it will give me a great deal of str. However, i will have my dex deducted, since my old cloak gave more dex. To a high lvl rogue, is str more important or is dex? i have about 215 in str and dex right now. any input would be appreciated
RE: um.... dilemma
# May 16 2003 at 11:32 AM Rating: Decent
Honestly if they are both 215 its mostly unimportant as both should be maxxed by buffs in most cases, the more important question is which cloak gives you more hp...likely this one with 10sta + 50hp
Maxed by buffs?
# May 27 2003 at 3:31 PM Rating: Excellent
I guess it depends on where your AA are, but if you have 215 STR and it's routinely maxed by buffs you either haven't raised your caps or you're getting some amazing buffage.

Now, I play a necro for the most part, so I would never have a high STR, but even I'm drooling over this for the STA/CHA/AC/HP/mana. Most NEC don't know this, but CHA actually matters to you. I've heard that low CHA is good for fear, and that's fine, but I almost never fear in anything larger than a duo group.

On raids, if I do anything that needs CHA, it's Screaming Terror, and while CHA has no bearing on ST landing, it *does* change the mem-wipe percentage a LOT. In my own testing against the 50th level skelly quest mob in BW, I was able to go from about a 10-20% to around 30% mem-wipe rate on him for ST with only a small (30ish points) change in my CHA. In a raid where you're wiping mobs to defend the ENC as they AE mez the incoming hordes, this difference means that you live quite a bit longer.

In AC, I managed to spot-mez long enough that our chanter kept the whole raid alive with only 3 deaths when one of our party accidentally pulled about 20 mobs and a mini-boss at once. It was truely an example of what a raid full of people who know their classes and their jobs well can do.

It also goes to show that every stat has it's role and the conventional wisdom (low CHA for NEC) isn't always wise....
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 30 2003 at 6:20 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Low cha doesnt help with fears. Rumor mill.
RE: Maxed by buffs?
# Jun 26 2003 at 2:59 AM Rating: Decent
My unbuffed str is 139... I'm routinely maxxed at 270str in exp groups.

81 str buffed just from 1 song I'm singing, plus whatever else I get from the group
RE: Maxed by buffs?
# Jul 01 2003 at 9:08 AM Rating: Decent
Interesting, I wasn't considering bards, and I guess I should. Most groups I'm in (not counting raids, here, since I tend to have buffs I can't PRONOUNCE, much less am used to having, in raids) don't have bards. NEC+CLR+MAG with SHM/WIZ/ROG/WAR/PAL/SHD/ENC fill-ins are what I'm generally used to, and I regularly request STR buffs when available for my pet (wow, what an impact on DPS!)

Thanks for the info!

This is a damn nice upgrade Smiley: smile and not that hard of a quest. The only NODROP part was from PoI and was the first thing I got...very quickly going down the right arm after zone-in.

Other parts I was lucky to get via guild groups and a guildie that had an extra shard :)

You need:
- a gold tipped boar horn (tactics)
- a shard of pure energy (BoT)
- a bundle of superconductive wires (PoI NODROP)
- sillicorrosive grease (PoI)

See Aid Fimli at the top of the library, who sends you to his uncle in Ak'Anon, who gives you a note to give back to Aid Fimli and voila - you have a cloak ... and a recipe for the tinkered crabcrackers.

Done!!
