Memories.

***** this horn... I camped it for MONTHS back in the day when I used to play. I would pull about 2-3 camps of undead... Highsun the named mobs away. Fade memories then re-aggro the regular undead around me. Take 10-25 undead into the building by zone in and AE kite them dead. 20 minutes and a BUTTLOAD of exp skeletal remains later I would go kite the named mobs. VERY HARD because they summoned. MANY named undead killed and this thing NEVER EVER dropped.

But now AE kiting is nerfed. Oh well. I miss EQ kinda. Been about 2 years since I've played.

Band of the Visionary dropped off of An Undead Footman, the guy that it seems most people camp for this evil horn. This camp is getting under my skin. I get a named after about 5-6 PH it seems and usually all he drops is that lame no stat shield, part of a broken quest

actually I misstated that, not the shield, the sword is what he likes to drop =p
where from?

I have heard this drops from the undead footman in plane of valor, and that he is a rare spawn in a camp NW of graveyard. There are 4 undead camps in that general area. Would like to know if it is a specific one or if it is any of the 4.
/sigh

Puretone
# Apr 20 2003 at 4:29 PM Rating: Decent
Sournote, why use this instead of puretone? For one, this has an equal mod to that of puretone from what I've seen. That and with amp, vots, sss, sm2, AT2 you're looking at a 3.7-3.8 singing mod(not gonna do the actual math). So in fact, using puretone with this horn would be the same. Puretone will become obsolete before too long imo.

There aren't a lot, but at higher level, a horn like this can make a huge difference. With McVaxious Rousing Rondo at level 57 and Warsong of Zek at level 62, this horn adds a big boost to the strength/attack bonuses and the damage shields generated by those songs. Since I normally get grouped with main tanks and other melees on raids, this is in my primary hand most of the time now.

#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 19 2003 at 9:03 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Why use a horn when you can /disc puretone ? the level 60 discipline is as good or better than any instrument bonus out there. So lets assume that you have used /disc for a moment.... now if you are in a raid guild you should have at least an 11/18 weapon or better. Attacking will yield far more damage then using horn. No small bonus is worth giving up meager bard DPS with weapon. IMHO this is only useful for sub level 60 bards and very rarely useful for them.

Listen to Steppy, he is totally right. I'm surprised you haven't seen the advantage of using a brass instrument by level 65 Sournote. Puretone can only be used once per hour, so that shouldn't even be considered when comparing to this instrument.

"Attacking will yield far more damage then using horn"

Again, surprised you would say something like that. Boosting the DPS of our entire group > boosting our own DPS. We're not a big melee class, get over it. The advantages to this horn far outweigh the disadvantage of not using it. Group with 2 or 3 other melee and the extra attack you're boosting with the instrument for them is far more important than your melee. This horn is the same modifier as puretone, so it's like having puretone on all the time when singing Warsong of Zek which is one of our most important songs at 62+.

Also, this instrument can be used in primary hand. You can very quickly put in this instrument when Zek hits, then switch back to a weapon right after and only lose about a second of melee.

ATK boost with epic: 32
ATK boost with this instrument: 50
STR boost with epic: 66
STR boost with instrument: 103
DS with epic: 27
DS with instrument: 42

Yes, it is most definitely worth it to lose 1 second of our primary hand melee to give the extra boost to the entire group.

Just my opinion.

Awesome Horn
# Feb 07 2003 at 5:30 PM Rating: Excellent
This drops off the named Undead - a group of Code of Silence got it this week. The instrument multiplier is 2.8 and you can primary-hand this with epic in secondary for very good effect with Warsong of Zek. It has a very unique look -- kind of a sawed-off Swiss alpenhorn kind of thing.
