Useless Bag

I got my alchemy skill to 300 before I did the trophy quest. But it was so easy to do, just tedious grabbing all the components for combines involved with the quest. I needed one of these for a turn in to get Master Trophy, otherwise it's a waist of time, because the Master Trophy soon evolved to it's 7/7 which is called Mundunugu Medicine Stick giving 15% mod to alchemy and summoned a Master carry all which does the same as the grandmaster's satchel. so this one is a waist of time.
Tip: My alchemy was at 210 (no trophy, or mod) I started buying Nodding Blue Lily's in baz for 20p each (went through 1200+ of them). But if you make Alacrity X potions with them (yield 5) with other components, even with the success/failure ratio, you sell the potions to merchant and break even, while taking your skill all the way to 300. The potions are trivial 348.
My master trophy was 12% mod which gave me skill of 336, I continued making the alacrity 10 potions and my trophy evolved :)
Stackable?
# Apr 07 2006 at 4:32 AM Rating: Decent
Does anyone know if the GM Alchemy mod stacks with the 15% mod item Umbracite Swarm Orb that drops in Vex Thal? If the orb still drops? or if there are any other known stacking conflicts I should be aware of before I go to all the trouble of gathering Alchemy mods?

Thanks, GL and GH
RE: Stackable?
# Apr 18 2006 at 9:54 PM Rating: Decent
None of the mods stack for any of the tradeskills. The highest % is the one that is used. So if you have a 5% and a 15% then 15% is your mod value.

Hope that helps.

Requires an Exceptional Shade Essence for the potion combine. This dropped from a shadowy figure (dark blue to a level 70 toon) in Grieg's End. Mine dropped at positive 200 by positive 2451.

Is there a quest for shamans, similar to the GrandMaster Assassin's Seal for Rogues?

If not....there should be.
trivial
# Mar 02 2005 at 9:11 AM Rating: Decent
Does anyone know if they trivial went up for the GM trophy with DoN? I know the raised the cap to 300 now, so is it possible that they raised the trivial for the trophy to 250? I have tried the GM combine like 9 times and am at a 198 skill/206 with geerlok and have no succeeded, but have only tried since DoN came out. Can anyone please comfirm this that the trivial did or did not go up on this so I know and dont try anymore.

I feel your pain, I am working on try #6, have petitioned a GM who wouldn't tell me anything other than sorry, keep trying. Sent in several bug reports and I am at 204 with gearlock myself. I wouldn't do this try but I am all done but the combine. Cross your fingers for me...

Completed quest on first attempt:

64 Shaman
200 alchemy skill
+5% mod with geerlok

If you've spent the money to get to 175, might as well go all the way before trying! :)

Now on to tailoring!

Made my grandmaster's medicine bag on the second try (skill of 200 with geerlok and it took 2 tries). But anyways, It fits in Primary, Secondary, Range, and Ammo but it will NOT give stats if its in ammo slot.

Question for those who have tried to make this
# Jan 25 2004 at 8:19 AM Rating: Decent
I have a couple questions for anyone who tried to make this. 1) What skill level were you at when you made your attempt? 2) Were you successful? 3) If you weren't successful, do you get anything back?

Just a little hesitant to attempt this, and blow all the ingredients to make the Seal, unless I'm fairly certain it will be successful.

Ammo slot?
# May 29 2003 at 11:46 AM Rating: Decent
/sigh
Why is this the only grandmaster item that won't go into the range slot?
RE: Ammo slot?
# May 29 2004 at 10:51 AM Rating: Default
Ammo slot is listed so that you can have stat increasing items for when useing tradeskills, the modifier still counts when it is in the ammo slot.
RE: Ammo slot?
# May 29 2003 at 10:38 PM Rating: Decent
It's not. A friend of mine made her Grandmaster's Jeweler's Eyepiece at the same time I made my medicine bag, and neither of them will give stats from the Ammo slot. Weird.

I made my grandmasters baker spoon and yes it fits in the ammo slot but gives no stats if i put it in that spot.. no biggie i just put it in my range slot..Smiley: grin

Nothing gives stats from the ammo slot that I am aware of at this tyme. There are several items with stats that go in ammo slot, I have never got them to actually give me the stats when placed in ammo slot though. =(

Tradeskills Trophy
# Feb 08 2003 at 12:47 PM Rating: Default
These items are not useless. They summon a 10 slot 100% giant weight reducing bag that you turn into the gnome upstairs in the barn in the bazaar and get a no drop bag of the same stats, at the same time you can still summon a no rent bag whenever you need one. I have the grandmaster's baking spoon and believe me it comes in handy. The stats on the trophy are not bad. Quit whining.

To be honest I think the grandmaster items should summon the correct mixing item for that class. I.e. Medicine back should summon a medicine bag of 10 slots, zero weight. It should work for normal, planar, and even racial items. This would keep people to have to lug around another container. Just summon your bag, mix items, store/sell/give potion away. Destroy the bag and move on. Just my opinion though. :)

Change the strength to stamina and add 75 hps then actually this becomes something I might I repeat MIGHT waste the extra 30k or so trying to up my alchemy to the necessary 180 that is needed to make this. My wisdom is maxed and thats with a 6 wis 50 mana 50 hp item in the range slot.. So I can't see myself spending another 30- 60k to go from 115 to 180 just for this PoS. Sorry your gonna have to try again to make alchemy not totally a useless skill.

If your wisdom is maxed (For your level of 62, I don't know if you mean 265 or 290, with PoP buff cap), this is still a big help because it gives you the opportunity to give up another Wisdom item in favor of something with other desireable stats, like AC or resists.

Feel free to think of Alchemy as useless though, less competition for those of us who make good money seeling potions in the bazaar.

You obviously don't know about (or aren't seeing) the other advantages to this item...

1) +5% to Alchemy. Now that Alchemy can be raised past the previous limit (had someone report a 200 skill to me already) this really comes in handy.

2) Free casting 10-slot 100% wt reduction bags.

3) There is an NPC who you turn in one of those No Rent bags to get a permenant 10-slot 100% wt reduction bag.
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 07 2003 at 5:07 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) and the one yer staring at is no rent , so whats yer point =)
RE: Yawn more Garbage
# Feb 11 2003 at 6:41 PM Rating: Decent
For the record I am 8 points shy of Max Alchemy ( 192 for the id10ts like yevun ) This will raise max skill to 210, also for a nice 10 slot, Giant, 100% wght reduction bag, on a turn in its sweet & to hell with the stats I can equip this & the Philosopher's stone for a skill of 220....

as the wise shaman said, I would rather have a potion & not need it then need a potion & not have it.

& if you dont think Alchemy can help you your sadly in need of a refund on the brain cell contribution plan.

for those that whine about cost... I make Mystical Infusion's its cheap & they come in handy & skill up is avg 2 - 3 a stack of combines.

Tradeskill mod items DO NOT stack, so whether you use this, or the philosopher's stone, or both, you still won't have an effective alchemy skill of more than 210. If you have more than one tradeskill mod item equipped, only the one with the highest mod will give an effective boost to that tradeskill.

This is still a good item, though. Glad they finally allowed alchemsits a trophy too.

The Philosoper's Stone is +10% alchemy, not 5, so, for the mathematicly un-inclined:

          200 + (10% of 200) = 220.

the point of the 15 wis i believe is because only shaman can use this, while believe it or not you do not have to be an enchanter to jewelry craft

he's upset because there's only 10 intelligence in the other grandmaster items, he thinks there should only be 10 wisdom on this one.

The wis on this item could be 0 for all I care, I won't equip this except when doing alchemy. The 50 Cha and the +5% mod make this little guy so worth making. Oh and a 100% weight reduction bag to boot.
RE: WHAT?
# Feb 07 2003 at 9:05 AM Rating: Decent
Typical.

Any time a wisdom caster gets something nice, someone has to whine. Get off it! Wis casters have been getting the short end of the stick as far as gear goes since the start of EQ. If you don't like that there's one item that shamans get that outdoes your too damn bad. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of items int classes get that outdo every shaman slot.
RE: WHAT?
# Jul 19 2003 at 4:45 PM Rating: Decent
Sigh. . . I have had both. Shaman and a wizard. I have never felt i was getting the shaft with my shaman. I have excellent gear. Wisdom casters may not get as many items with straight +wis on them as int casters get +int items, BUT i get other stats on my gear a lot more often. Like +sta +hps great AC. Shamans dont need over 200 wisdom anyway. Add a lot of HPs and canni till you cant eat anymore. Or right click that jaundiced bone bracer over and over in a battle. I consistently notice i outdamage a wizard. Cant do the damage all at once but i consistently do damage. Right click epic dot right click jbb over and over for whole fight. epic is like 1200 and jbb is 263 every 8 seconds. Plus the pet. Actually its wizards that get the shaft.
