#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 18 2002 at 4:30 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Magus is darn hard to pull if you want a clear pull to Naggy. But (I comprimised the plan and I tested it on a Naggy Raid. Was perfect pull) if you time your attack on him right, you can be sucessful. Here's how you do it (NOTE: Some sort of Speed spell or proc is needed)
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 08 2002 at 10:29 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) sam,e stats but focus affect is Extended Damage II i went to loot it but a stupid monk looted an destroyed it cuz they heard i wanted it an really ticked alot of ppl off in Sol b dat evening esp my grp lol
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 13 2002 at 10:45 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This item works very strangely, as it does add more damage to certain spells, it also accumliates over time by 25 damage i think. So if your casting a 200 damage spell, the second time you cast it on SAME MOB it will do 225 then 250 then 275 and accumliates and never stops! This is great bad *** item for quading, nuff said.

I didnt notice that, but I have seen it average about 80-100 more hp damage on nukes. I now kill mobs in three hits when it used to take 4 hits.

It's great for those lower level "finish" spells. It gives em that extra kick that can truly finish off a mob rather than leave it with 30 hps.

I lucked out on acquiring this one. Went on a Naggy raid that incidentally ended in wipeout. I had been waiting from a rez following a kobold attack with an Ogre blocking my escape route. When they finally rezzed me I zoned in when they were rolling on this item and rolled a 96 t win it. Guess I had the best fun that night hehe.

Naggy Raid
# Jun 12 2002 at 8:47 PM Rating: Default
IM a lvl 45 druid and i got this on a naggy raid and won the roll with 958. Anyways its very nice mask and increases all the damaging spells from lvl 1 to 44. Its great for quading as it adds more damage for same mana it use to. Eventhough naggy owned us all at 25% life, it was a great raid and i am proud to hold this mask!
What's the point?
# Jun 11 2002 at 12:58 PM Rating: Default
How many pre lvl 45 people have the opportunity to loot this? It's no drop, so, those few that get any use off the lvl II effect lose it after a couple levels. Unless you're a lvl 40 caster/healer, along with some lvl 55+, just to get twinked this is a totally useless item affect. It should be a lvl III effect, like the rokyls channeling crystal is.

i have to agree with you if it were an effect 3 then i would have rolled on it on all of the naggy raids that i have been on but because once you win once you cant win again i tend to sit out on this. Call me dumb but i have +8 wis and str mask right now so losing 5 mana and 8 str for getting an effect that im going to use for 3-4 more lvls seemed a waster to me but if i could ues it up to lvl 60 spells that would have had a much greater effect in the matter. while i love the added damage that it would have givven me as a druid i tend to only end up healing when in grps and when i solo i normaly just dot because of the 2 focus effects taht i have on those its 25% less mana and they last 20% longer so who needes to nuke. just my oppinion.

Using lvl 44 and below spells well into the 50's. No, I doubt that. Wizards get a DD with 500 more base dmg at 49 than the one at 44.
RE: What's the point?

The effects work on SPELLS up to lvl 44, not people up to 44. Many of those spells may be used well into the 50's.

I know that as a 56th level shammy, I'm actually hoping to bag one of these soon. Why? Well, I need some AC, and my current mask (plat. ruby viel) doesn't have ANY (and as an ogre, I can stand to lose the STR off of it as well). The Improved Damage II is VERY nice in my opinion, because as soon as I manage to get my JBB (Jaundiced Bone Bracer), I'll be casting a FREE lower-level nuke ALL THE DAMN TIME! =) Anything that speeds this up and lets me do more damage is more than welcome in my inventory.

Almost Useless...
# Jun 07 2002 at 6:09 AM Rating: Default
The Effect is almost useless, unless your a necro. I mean, look at the restrictions.

Quote:

1: Increases spell effectiveness up to 20%
2: Restriction: Spells level 44 and lower
3: Restriction: Only applies to 'Hit Points (HP)' spells
4: Restriction: Affects 'Instant' spells only
5: Restriction: 'Detrimental' spells only
6: Restriction: 'Location Based AoE' spells excluded
7: Restriction: 'Point Blank AoE' spells excluded
8: Restriction: 'Target Based AoE' spells excluded
9: Restriction: 'Giants' spells excluded
10: Restriction: 'Dragons' spells excluded

End Quote

See? =P

Vernant fixed all that in the new patch. Now this spell works on everything including aoes but they reduced the damage some.

Errr... 2 questions...

Why didn't they just say all AoEs are exluded?

And How do you know which spells are "Dragon" and "Giant"?
RE: Almost Useless...
# Jun 10 2002 at 10:51 AM Rating: Decent
i dont think there are any dragon and giant only spells under lvl 44 so it doesnt matter anyway

# Jun 05 2002 at 11:31 PM Rating: Decent
and also only wisdom casters even wanted this item all the int casters have it but id like to see what a wizard could do with it using manaburn or whatever does 9k+ dmg or just even his regular ice comat or whatever they always cast
RE: THIS ITEM RULES
# Jun 06 2002 at 5:45 AM Rating: Decent
That wizard could probably do very little, as according to preliminary information, this item has only Improved Damage 2 on it, which should affect only spells up to level 40 (or 44th, perhaps, trusting the initial message ). All the High End Damage spells are/should be unaffected by it, as should be mana burn.

Still, more than just "nice"

RE: THIS ITEM RULES

That Sounds right, i have this mask and my 50+ DD's are not affected at all and stil do the same amount of damage as usual

# May 05 2002 at 2:35 PM Rating: Decent
Thats the problem, you all are so selfish, well , try to get a item like thet for a int caster, you will have a hard time, try finding one like that for wis caster, you just need 800pp and a high ench, thats all, so stop being so selfish, thats the problem with all people in here.

#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 07 2002 at 2:04 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) WTF are you 2 talking about? I've seen this drop. Not an INT caster in the house even blinked before declining. So STFU!
Priest Classes Beware

Im not trying to start an argument about why this item is good for one class and crap for another...but. On my Naggy raid, priest classes were told to stay out of the role because this item while good for priests is excellent for casters. Priest have the Velium Ruby Veil, which is +8 STR and +8 WIS, which sells on my server ( Tholuxe ) for around 800pp. And apparently INT casters are absolutely helpless on the equipment front. :-)

So if you go as a priest expect to give up your role so that those silly casters can beat each other up over something that is inferior to our version of the same item.

I hope i relayed the message correctly. :-p

Evidently this was on a RARE naggy raid where they decided they just had too dang many healers. As a leader of raids myself, I must say anyone pissing off the healers right then is not a wise person. The mask is really the only loot a few clerics, shamans and even druids show for.
RE: Priest Classes Beware
# Mar 17 2002 at 10:29 AM Rating: Decent
The velium Ruby Veil has no AC. So its a clear upgrade. It comes down to a priest having to weigh 1 point of wisdom vs. 5 ac. The AC will win, and if someone told me to stay out of the roll, Id tell him what he could go do to himself.

RE: Priest Classes Beware

I tend to aggree that while an INT caster would benefit more from this mask, there are WIS casters(druids) that rely alot on their nukes, specially while soloing:) And with the new focus effect, would be an upgrade. It should be said though that the rule "need before greed" comes into play when looting is decided.
