in case you have researched a clicky root and ended up here and are hunting this and have not seen it yet- and wondering "does this even drop any more?" yes, it does. keep at it.
i cleared the island at least 50 times, mayhaps more- over the course of a year or so.
i estimate the drop rate to be 5% or less, it could be as low as 2%. usually the guy has nothing special, and more often the grimoire, which i saw maybe 5 to 8 times.
i sought this as a wizard for those rare occasions when grouping and no root is memmed and suddenly is needed to prevent disaster. (for example: too many adds and no crowd control present) with the wondrous aid of the bandolier, 2 key presses and the problem is solved.
i found it also comes in excellently handy when kiting in tight quarters where root is needed. why not just use the memmed root? what with 12 spell slots and all...... because of gift of amazing exquisite uber colossal radiant mana! now when it goes off and the next spell i have to cast is root or i am getting bashed- i no longer have to waste that gift of mana on a root. ;)
now to camp this for another stretch of time with the enchanter.....

I use this sometimes while kiting in Fire; becuase it is a clicky you can use it while waiting for spells to refresh, just like you can a mount, or Elemental pants. Worth all I spent to loot it.

Just had the oppurtunity to loot this and check to see if it works from inventory for magi, it does not

I am sorry if I missed this information somewhere else, but is an item like this usable from a main inventory slot by other classes. As a cleric I would wear it for use, but could a druid or a mage still use it that way. This does not show (worn) just hoping.

"Any Slot/Can Equip" means it can be activated from any slot, including inventory, but only if you can equip it. Sorry, mages.

Ok?...2 of the priest classes...and 3 of the int casters, why can't druids and mages use this?

Mages don't get roots of any form, and druid roots follow a different line. This isn't designed to give these classes something they don't already have, just to free up a spell slot and put the effect on a nice item.
It also only takes .25 second longer to cast (2.0 instead of 1.75 seconds) and has instant recast instead of 3 second wait... VERY useful when it breaks immediately or doesn't land first time.
agreed...makes perfect sense to me.
