The number one reason every wizard should have this item is because it contains an instant-casting self-buff spell. Melee are not the only ones who get hit with AE dispel, and rather than pay someone else to farm something for you (goblin skull earring), or doing a long, involved quest (coldain ring), you can do this very simple quest.
Also, like the Eye of Innoruuk, you don't have to cannibalize your stats to wear your buff item, as this has a decent intelligence modifier.

Insta-click buff is a great thing, agreed. But does this one stack with a Telescope effect? I wouldn't guess it to do so.

If you look above that it says "This item is the result of a quest". The NPC who gives the quest is in temple of Solsek Ro.

As it's a level 12 spell, you'd probably be able to cast it at level 12 at the least, if not sooner.. Best way to find out would be to quest for it. =) Even if you can't use the gaze effect, the +5 to intelligence is still handy for a low level caster to have. =)

Gaze is nothing compared to 'sight'. Who will ever use Gaze?

To answer that.. Acumen Mask owners will use gaze. Why do you use sight when there is magnify? Point is the whole spell line is relatively worthless, so the fact that gaze is the effect here and not sight makes no difference. I still have it hotkeyed so i can zoom in a tad, WITHOUT having to mem any stupid sight type spell.
It's an insant cast self buff. People pay big pp for the gobbo earring and it has grim aura. Now no high lvl needs grim aura cast on them, but something that you can click all day long to stay in your primary buff slot, helping to keep that AE Dispell from stealing all your good buffs, that we can use.
