Even now, 4 years later, I'd still like to have these.
While I do have the Rk. II's of Ellowind (single- and group-target versions), a good clicky haste is oft-times invaluable; the 1.0 Epic'll do in a pinch, but I'd really like to have these to go with my Ornate legs.
While raiding, there's usually only 3 of us Enchanters for 40+ people. This means that (usually) only 1 MGB is available at any given time (more if we have plenty of prep time; we usually save our MGB's and buff by groups, then).
I don't always have Ellowind memmed, and occasionally a melee bites it and gets rezzed on the fly. So, do I sit in the middle of combat and mem it? Hell, no. Do I waste valuable time by sending /tell's to the other Enchanters (or the Class channel), asking whoever has it memmed to buff so-and-so? Hell, no. I slap a quickie Haste (again, good ol' 1.0 Epic) on 'em and send 'em back into the fray. Once battle's done, then I toss an Ellowind their way.
Is SoV the best? Not by any means (or at least, not anymore). Will it do, for the time being? Yup.
Any free Haste is a God-send; and a Haste that's only 2 steps below the current best in the game, is more so.
Speed of the Serpent: 66%
Speed of Vallon: 68%
Speed of Ellowind: 68%
For raw Haste, there's very little difference between them. It's the goodies that the upper Hastes provide (increased chance to crit, etc.) that make them so invaluable. But, until I (or another Enchanter in the group/raid) can give you the best we've got...SoS/SoV will do quite nicely.
(The 1.0 Epic / Elemental pants clickies also work great as a buff-slot placeholder, marking the spot you want the real Haste to go to in your buff box, if you're as **** about buff-placement as I am.)
