Even now, 4 years later, I'd still like to have these.

While I do have the Rk. II's of Ellowind (single- and group-target versions), a good clicky haste is oft-times invaluable; the 1.0 Epic'll do in a pinch, but I'd really like to have these to go with my Ornate legs.

While raiding, there's usually only 3 of us Enchanters for 40+ people. This means that (usually) only 1 MGB is available at any given time (more if we have plenty of prep time; we usually save our MGB's and buff by groups, then).

I don't always have Ellowind memmed, and occasionally a melee bites it and gets rezzed on the fly. So, do I sit in the middle of combat and mem it? Hell, no. Do I waste valuable time by sending /tell's to the other Enchanters (or the Class channel), asking whoever has it memmed to buff so-and-so? Hell, no. I slap a quickie Haste (again, good ol' 1.0 Epic) on 'em and send 'em back into the fray. Once battle's done, then I toss an Ellowind their way.

Is SoV the best? Not by any means (or at least, not anymore). Will it do, for the time being? Yup.

Any free Haste is a God-send; and a Haste that's only 2 steps below the current best in the game, is more so.

Speed of the Serpent: 66%
Speed of Vallon: 68%
Speed of Ellowind: 68%

For raw Haste, there's very little difference between them. It's the goodies that the upper Hastes provide (increased chance to crit, etc.) that make them so invaluable. But, until I (or another Enchanter in the group/raid) can give you the best we've got...SoS/SoV will do quite nicely.

(The 1.0 Epic / Elemental pants clickies also work great as a buff-slot placeholder, marking the spot you want the real Haste to go to in your buff box, if you're as **** about buff-placement as I am.)

I have never run out of mana during a raid, never. Unless Im sitting there chain nuking a god or something. Silk pants should go to wizards, thats just the way it should work. The stats on these are very nice. But if your in a position to get them you should be passing them to your wizards. With elemental gear I can hold 3-4 mobs down with Bliss and still buff the people that need it.

Anyone talking about these pants that isnt at the elemental/Time level really needs to get there first, then realize how trivial a free buff like SoV really is.

Sure, the first few pairs DO belong going to wizards, but, eventually, it's nce to pick up a pair. Its rather fruitless to hold out for ethereal leggings for as rare as they are. And, these are the second best leggings in PoP.
The Effect WOULD be of use.

I had this page open to check on the stats of the pants I didn't get last night (didn't have the dkp for it). Many people here are saying "you won't use the effect" - WRONGO!!!! When you are on raids that can kill gods like Fenin you have people dying right left and center. When a melee class gets ressed what do they want? (Hint: It AINT Crack unless they're hybrid). A 4 second no-mana SoV would be very useful for a "Messy Mob" when say 10-15 tanks die. We have 4-6 chanters on our raids, but MGBs still need to be used wisely.
Since the Elemental Planes allow steeds (horse/drogmar - except water which stinks for this and many other reasons) alot of the clerics are in melee between heal casts, so when they get too much aggro for healing a tank and die, they want C5 and SoV.
When you get to the point where you might win an item like this, its the effects that are of interest. Most stats will be maxed already (355int and 305 cha). Stam, HP/Mana and effects are what will be upgraded (and resists too - and even Time enabled Guildmembers would go "oh - +30 to 2 resists - not bad at all =).

This gave me a good chuckle. Thanks I needed it.

If you are having people die left and right on FR there is seriously a problem. He can be done with 40 if you manage your aggro. It is not hard to manage aggro when you fight him with ranged weapons and use nukes/dots correctly.

If your at the point to killing Fennin Ro, 700 mana for group haste really isnt alot. I never bother to switch out single haste if only one person dies.

10-15 tanks dieing? Usually that is the sign of a wipe in progress. Unless you are an ultrazerg guild that has that many to spare and can still keep the raid going.

Don't get me wrong I would like to have these and don't think they should be wizard only. If you are hurting that bad for aggro then chill out a little on the dps. But the effect on them dose better suit a wizard because of not having a recast time and that single SoV sucks. It is ok for clicking if one person dies but not like 350 mana if you want to switch to single means anything. With mana preservation and ft15 which you should have or at least be close to, and the addtion of other forms ( bard song,bot9,MC3,sk/necro in group, manataps where available) you should be able to hit close to 80-120 mana per tic regen at max and avg about 70 without taps and bard. So really it is not that big of a deal.

The scroll is easy to get to. Faction can be easily fixed to the point where an illusion will get you what you need. I have done it for dark elves a few times in FV. In some cases if you are agnostic there is no faction work needed at all.

Clerics never want SoV; they want epic haste because SoV and Yaulp VI do not stack.

Yaulp VI

Slot Description
1: Increase ATK by 60
3: Increase DEX by 90
5: Increase Attack Speed by 30%
6: Increase Mana by 12 per tick

Mana regen from yaulp is the major reason clerics are willing to melee.

That said, Concussion clicky for Wizards > SoV clicky for Enchanters. Let wizards have it, I'm more interested in nightcrawler or secret legs from VT anyway.

Speed of Vallon and Yaulp6 Do Stack. My cleric gets this all the time, but only the better haste is really used (SOV). Clerics use Yaulp6 for the mana regen so they dont have to sit down and can run if not on a mount. Yaulp6 wont work on a mount. IMO the tier1 pop legs (tranquility clicky) is far better than this effect. Seems SOE mixed up the two clicky effects. Instant mana buff after rez or debuff is >>>> greater than single target haste, this especially since so many other classes have worn haste and tribute.

If you're in a guild thats on a level to slay elemental gods, you most likely will have your epic in your bank and replaced with much better. You will also have a big enough mana pool where you wont care about saving mana. These pants are all about the stats. The clicky SoV is merely a pleasant convienence.

EPIC discussion

Dont draw out the Epic when youre talking about an item that comes out 4 Expansions later, its not even intresting, besides Ench epic is 1hb, while these are Leg slot, I got the epic long time ago, and these legs arent exactly dropping like flies even when you do get to the Elemental Gods. Its not likely that more than 5% of the EQ enchanters will ever wear these or better, ever.
Useless, why would you think that?
# Jun 13 2003 at 10:12 PM Rating: Excellent
Even with VQ, still many pet classes want their pet hasted, which is not covered by the group spell. Say you do 6 pets individually, there's 2k mana. Or yer in an tough spot, juggling 3 mezzed, SoV or VQ is fading, melees start crying, and you just can't see coming up with a whole group worth of haste and still take on the adds waiting on back row. Sounds like this would be VERY useful at times like this. Or even better yet, who is last class on their feet and ready to rock last after an entire group wipeout? Bet saving 700 for VQ or 350 a pop per melee/pet would look really nice then.

Speed of Vallon
# May 28 2003 at 3:12 PM Rating: Decent
By the time that you are level enough to get these, you have all level 65 spells, and SoV is single target, you won't click these. Better to get Ornate (Right-click, Tranquility, self only(group)) to use when rezzed to med enough for VoQ.

The stats are the only thing that make these usefull, the effect is garbage.
Oh, and if you are the only chanter on a raid, you won't be getting these. My guild has normally 10-12 chanters with all spells to level 65 on every raid.
Wow
# Mar 20 2003 at 2:39 PM Rating: Default
*Blinks* Why WOULDN'T any enchanter want these? I mean, I've run out of mana hasting an entire raid party before, even with KEI/Tranq/VoQ, considering I don't have my epic or Speed of the Brood yet. Any enchanter who thinks the effect is useless is abso-freaking-lutely nuts!

Think about it
# Feb 04 2003 at 5:05 AM Rating: Decent
Do you people have any idea how much mana it takes to speed an entire raid party without MGB Group Speed.

This item would allow you to buff everyone with out having to worry about mana. It would also come in very usefull after a total raid wipeout saving the enchanter from having to burn their gather mana.

to me the question is, if chanters get this, why get the epic? :)
What other class would be more appropriate to have a killer haste-battle buff?

Epics Outdated
# Apr 20 2003 at 3:19 PM Rating: Decent
The answer, dont bother with the epic

Our epic, as are most, is badly outdated. I have items with better stats from VT to wear and can cast SOV which is better than the effect, so there is no reason whatsover for me to do my epic.

For someone who cant get into VT or the elemental planes...maybe, but for those with access to these zones, there simply are better items out there =/
RE: Epics Outdated
# Aug 18 2003 at 10:31 PM Rating: Decent
I'll agree with you. Epics are outdated. But I finished mine more because I had put so much time into getting it and before joining a great guild that COULD go to places like VT, I still didn't have anything to compare to the stats on the epic. Most melee hate it when I clicky haste them, but in battle if I have to do a lot of crowd control, or if I have just VoQed a few groups, cry or not, you will get a clicky haste to get you by until I can 1: get mana back to do SoV, or 2: have a moment of free time to switch out to SoV because it's not ALWAYS up on my spell list. Other things will take priority over that during raids and sometimes even groups. I am looking forward to finally getting my group SoV just to make my life easier and to be more productive during raids.

I just replaced my epic with the wand from VT. For one thing, it's still almost a rite of passage for enchanters. Also, I still use it to haste clerics and the recently dead. Besides, it's no where near as hard as it used to be.

Chanters get this so they can buff other people without having to mem the spell.

It's a targetable right clicky, not a Permanent effect... I'm guessing either Alla didn't have a screenshot to go by, or it's a typo. Must Equip, Cast Time: 4.0 Seconds.
RE: Explain
# Jan 31 2003 at 12:38 PM Rating: Decent
Simply Put.. Ask any melee in your group why Chanty's get this.

Im not flaming you or anything like that, but remember one thing about a chanty.. We are one of those classes melees love to have around ( next to the Clerics of course ). We haste them, keep the adds at bay, Rune them, and various other knick knack buffs..

Even though this is for ourselves only it still makes sense.. whip out your Katta Peace Staff and begin swinging furiously to get the hate deduction proc to go off.. or better yet, whip out the skull shaped wand ( the one with the Ice Comet proc ) and start slugging it out..Or whip our your Drakkel Wolf Claws ( wandering mind Proc ) and start poking away too .. you'll get some mana back for your troubles.

As a soloing, charming , enchantress, I do completely see merit in this. It's ALL about the DPS and hate management. Next, it frees up a spell slot.. and I know I can never have access to too many spells when i'm soloing.. so clicky/perm effect items own !

And lastly. Chanty melee is FUN.. ( It's about as successful as a Mexican Bottled Water Company...but still fun) The term Battlechanty comes to mind....

I hope this explaination helps.

LOL Battlechanter...Well as a fellow chanter, I tell you the greatest fun I have is duking it out with some mobs. When I have 60% mana or more in a well balanced group. I tank melee. I may only do about 30 damage each hit, but its better then sitting on my rear just watching everyone do the work. Don't count yourself short. I have solo tanked a lt blue giant without the aid of my pet. This may be nothing major but for me at when I was 53 ish, tanking a giant without the use of my pet was a milestone. So look outside the boxes of our usual defined roles as Mezers, buffers. We are more then that. And using all of our talents we can do alot more damage. (and we can have the most fun..)

This robe is very nice. Clicky haste...could save me alot of mana. And mana for us is our life. And I will honestly say I will never see this robe. But I congradulate those of you who have.
RE: Explain
# Jan 31 2003 at 12:28 PM Rating: Decent
I know it seems a little ludicrous with Enchanters being so poor at melee, but I could see how this might be marginally useful. For that extremely rare moment when a Chanter has used up all of his or her mana in a soloing situation against easy mobs (i.e. farming for pelts, crystalline silks, or the like), this could make a bad situation become manageable. It could buy some valuable time and allow them to do some melee damage until their mana is regenerated enough to throw a spell out there. Even more likely, if the Enchanter is soloing and has a weapon with a stun proc (and it goes off even once), it could buy the necessary time to get a mez cast before they are pummeled into the earth. I know these situations are rare, but hey this is EQ, anything can and will happen at some point in a peeps life.

i believe this is a right click effect, like the silk ornate tranquility armor is with Tranquility (lvl 63 ench KEI2 spell). It's just a guess, but it would make sense.
