I have been to PoV a few times and have only seen this guy once, killed him with 2 pets and some help come Devook and Rolk (thx guys :) ) he didn't drop a thing for me but 2% regular xp at 62.

question 1: is this a rare spawn?
question 2: did he always drop loot when you have killed him?
10 magic damage?
# Jul 10 2003 at 9:16 AM Rating: Decent
Hy all,
How does the magic damage on that weapon work exactly? is that a 40/35 actually or is it just 30/35 with +10damage on the final damage done?

thx for answer

A decent rule of thumb (unless you are going up against specific mobs that you know the resists of ahead of time) is to think of any weapon with resist-based damage bonuses as being worth 1/2 of the bonus. Thus, think of this weapon as a 35/35 for purposes of estimating your average damage output over the long haul. I find this to be fairly accurate.

That said, this doesn't seem very ideal to me. 40 delay is the magic number of 2H weapons these days (that's where the damage bonus starts to go way up). With a delay of 35, I'd say there are far better weapns out there that are just as easy to get.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 18 2003 at 12:47 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) the 10 magic damage is like a proc.. sometimes its a 40/35 ( when it procs ) and 30/35 if it doesnt proc... i think the proc depends on the mobs resistance to what ever type of +10 damage it is... thats what ive always been told

Works like this, the 10magic damage has a chance to land every swing, but any 1-10 of the damage can be resisted. Therefore with the 10 magic damage this weapon is anywhere from 30/35 to 40/35 per swing.

Yeah. Same with bards. But one of my favorite items is a 2hb that procs Overthere. Just the thing for getting out of a raid when the wizards have all gone afk or to sleep.

They were obviously in too much of a hurry and just included all hybrids and melees. (Or too lazy.)

It takes up less space in the database, two marks on the items hybrid/melee is easier then storeing 3 which would be hybrid/monk/warrior or alternately hybrid/melee/NOT Rogue. Saves space and bandwidth.

That doens't hold water really, I doubt that items are designed by assigning classes or races in groups, rather than simply selecting all classes on a one by one basis. Even if they are, you would be talking about a couple of crumby bytes to express the difference, and at that, why would they try to conserve bandwidth on just one item that isn't even that great, and quite rare? Especially on a game that is by no means a bandwidth hog, Everquest was, and still is designed to work on a 28.8k modem, and works just fine on one if you know how to configure it properly.
