im assuming people are talking about using this in secondary vs using a shield.

AC on shields raise the AC softcap.

Any shaman, worth his salt so to speak, will tell you, tht while AC is nice, HP's are what get us by. HP equal mana. Also a good shaman will allways malo first, that way, if the mob turns on em, he can park em quick and let the MT re-establish agro.

As a raid leader on Karana I know that the MT is decided by the HP NOT the AC... A MT with 1800ac and 6k hp will be eaten alive by the AoW (High attack rating mob) YET a MT with 1400 ac and 9k hp will survive... I KNOW these are big differences... BUT... HP is god in PoP... when im on my cleric i get hit by AoE's... and AC does NOTHING agianst AoE's... if you are getting hit by Agnarr or other Raid Encounter Mob's im sorry but being a Clr/Dru/Shm and having 1300 ac is NOT going to save you... for one.. YOU SHOULDNT BE GETTING HIT!... Anyways... im out...

You've obviously never played a shaman beore. AC is king for us. Depending on how well or how bad a tank gets aggro we have a very high chance of being hit with melee while slowing and debuffing. Go play a shaman for 65 levels, then tell me ac doesn't matter.

Agnarr dropped 2 of these last night and I was lucky enough to get one, as a lvl 61 Oracle even with this equipped I still have Ac of 1150+ with raid buffs, mobs that my guild fight will kill you faster than fly even with higher ac, combat stability and combat durability which are both aa abilities will help keep you alive more than ac IMHO. The +10 stam and 110 hp are very nice on a shaman too.)The effect when equipped is a glowing green fist with green particals flowing from it.The spell haste effect is very nice too makes the life of a buff bish that much easier.

AC?

Who wants no ac?

AC, for the most part, If your in an Agnarr capable guild, is useless. Having an extra 30AC when the mobs hit for 800+ Isn't going to keep you alive any longer. 110 hp, however, will.

Ok so if a mob hits for 800+ an 30 extra ac is useless whereas 100 hps saves the day???

Sorry but I don't see the logic here. The higher a mob hits the more important ac will become relative to extra hps. Not saying hps is useless. Hps is very important especially for tanks due to the CH spells, but the issue is a bit more complex than the above post indicates.

You are right in that the 100hps isn't gonna save you by it's self. But if you get a few items with similiar hp they can add up to an extra hit. Where as against a mob like the boss's in PoP you are probably gonna get hit for max damage as a non-melee regardless of your AC. So you might as well try for more HP so you have better chances of survival if you manage to get some temporary agro, not to mention all the AE's where your AC don't help at all.

Unlikely for a cleric druid or shaman to tank! imo =D But then again as a Shaman i understand how AC saves lives, but not off of agnarr

I don't care about AC when I get items. I care about focus effects, HP, Mana, and saves.

As a 65 (about to hit 66) druid I can tell you I'm mainly looking at maintaining my max wis, getting higher mana, and upping to greater resists on every item I get. Dex for casting stability and that extra AC to lower a mob's damage by 2%-5% is an afterthought and an added bonus to anything I get. HP and STA are always nice to have but I look at mana before them.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 29 2003 at 11:23 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I LOVE how all the uber things in PoP are no drop! Well, maybe not ALL, but alot of them!
