Although it is a really *slow* place to farm pelts, there are a number of bears here that can drop them. The 'marsh' line, which are also used in several ogre newbie quests.

This has a few other uses for tradeskills:

1) as an animal skin for making poison vials, lined poison vials, and sealed poison vials;
2) Medium Quality Bear Skin + Skinning Knife = Low Quality Bear Skin (tailoring);
3) Medium Quality Bear Skin + sewing Pattern + varying number of Studs = Large Studded Leather Armor (tailoring)

I want to know have you tried this with a "SKIN". Normally you use "PELTS". I tried a skin, just a plain skin once in tailoring and it did not work.

The words skin and pelt are used somewhat interchangably by Sony. The cat and wolf are pelts, bear is skins. They all work the same. You probably tried something like a grizzly bear skin. If it says high/medium or low quality, followed by cat, wolf, bear, or rockhopper, it is usable for tradeskills.

On the other hand, things like low/med lion skins (Hq lion makes fleeting quiver), walrus skins, and many other skins/pelts, are not usable for regular tailoring.

<edit> why the heck would someone rate this post down. I correctly answered someone's question, provided useful information, and get slammed for it.
