Rarity Check

I have been camping this mob for 5 days straight, the rarity on these boots must be insane. I have killed the caretaker receiving the vambraces 30+, Myrlokar's gift 10+ times, even the Berserker Club 3+ times but no boots. I need the boots to complete my set, craziness and no one is camping them but me. Any tips suggestions or rituals to perform in order to get these boots would be helpful.

Change of effect
# Dec 19 2003 at 4:52 AM Rating: Good
As of todays patch, Tolan's Darkwood Boots now have a new effect:

Effect: Serpent Sight (Must Equip. Casting Time: 7.0)

Which is useless to all but the Human Rangers among us.

Keep in mind that Invigor was also useless. Before the patch, I don't remember ever using these boots for the effect. But now that it has an infra effect, I plan to have it up all the time. In short, the change makes them more useful for human rangers, and won't affect the other rangers.

Excellent point! They've taken something that probably very few used, and made it useful to at least one race/class combo. Shame they didn't make it Ultravision with See Invis, which would have increased it's shelf life considerably.

Ummmm..... In case you didn't know this serpent sight also gives see invis effect which helps a lot if you in a zone that have mobs that can invis like some of the higher areas.

Serpent Sight doesn't give See Invis; just Infravision. You might be thinking of Spirit Sight, which is a different spell.

Although our very handy Spell: Falcon Eye line of spells, starting at 52, has a see invis component, with the upgrade at level 58, Spell: Eagle Eye adding ultravision to our line of buffs. Smiley: smile

Rangers get Eyes of the cat at around 19 or 24, so yes this frees me from switching out a spell every so often, but it's not like this gives us something we didn't already have... does it?

none of the Kunark clicky at lvl 45 gives you anything you didn't have before. Look 'em up some time and notice that.

That seems to be true fer everythin; but the Breastplate, which I still covet! Ranger self-portin' to LFay. Gotta love that.

Don't forget the bracer, I'm pretty sure, at least the last time I checked, Ranger can't summon arrows.

Both the BP and the bracer are awesome. The bracer will become redundant after you get the Endless Quiver AA, but still amazing until then. Smiley: wink2
Effect worthless

Bought the boots before looking them up. Effect can be cast by clicking on the boots(at level 45 or over). You must stand still while casting--and the casting time is fairly long. The effect can not be used well while fighting. Basicly boots waste of money unless you just want the ac.

What?

What's wrong with a Wurmy? Not trying to take away from the discussion of these boots, but all mid-level and higher players should already know to keep their stamina above 100. With such high stamina and a haste item, I think the Wurmslayer is a fine Ranger weapon.

Be aware of 1 thing before you buy these boots, fellow rangers, once you get over 100sta (which should be a goal for all rangers seeing as how we need every HP we can muster) the effect becomes useless. Despite how annoying seeing the yellow bar empty may be, it means NADA if your sta is 101 or higher, aka no slowed attack speed, no lost dex/agi. I personally am wearing Shrouded Boots from ME right now, the ac is 6 less, but PILE of stats I have to choose over these (12ac +4 to all stats, except cha which is +5). Also my sta is settled out at 104 now, so the effect would be useless. Just my input, If you are lacking in the sta area, and use heavy weapons (shudder... Wurmslayer) these may be the booties for you, but think about it before you blow PP on these when you could be saving for that Bracer =)

Wolveran Shadowbane 54.1 Pathfinder
Shizadow Knizight 34 Shadowknight

Just say no! To using a Wurmslayer that is...

Great boots. Gee, gotta watch how you say that around the ladies. I am always running out of energy dual wielding and pulling. These boots would help a lot. Now all I have to do is get to level 45 so I can get me some Vitamin Boots.
