The Stringed mod on this is great - but the clicky is pretty worthless, as it's completely unmodified, it doesn't even use your natural Instrument Mastery AAs. And with /melody out and no way to pair it in, it just makes things more difficult.
Bards can use instant cast clickies in the middle of a song. This and Darkened Breath of Harmony are great for the additional effect in the twist. Between the two of them, I'd put this one in my multibind and have a hotkey for DBoH.

Got this item recently from Plane of Water. I can actually use it & the breath of harmony to do a permanent 6 song twist. You only lose out on extra HP regen for not using the casted version. Mana regen appears to be the same on clicked, casted, & pbAoE versions of Marr songs [lvl62 &64]. I was getting 19 mana regen at lvl 65. Video guide talking about it: https://youtu.be/7_pXzI7Zzpo
Do string instuments modify the regen rate of mana on our songs of replenishment? I heard that the string mod is only added to the health regen but not the mana. Is this true?
String mods do increase the mana regen, but only for the members of your party, not for the bard themselves. Bards do not benefit from any type of clarity line of spells or potions. The only thing to increase a bards mana regen rate is worn Mana Regen items (flowing thought items for the older players).
No. No instrument affects the mana regen portion of any bard songs. It does affect the healing rate however. Death, AAs, FT and Guild Hall pool are the only things affecting mana for bards.
Death? Well if you want to get technical in that sense, then you should say charm, dirge (ae dd), and fade also affect bard mana pools lol Not to mention tribute.
This behavior has changed, or is different on my server (Mangler, TLP server). The click Wind of Marr effect gives a totally unmodified HP regen. It was +20 hp a tick at 65 with all relevant AA. Compared to singing the same song I was getting +79 HP a tick with the lute equipped.
I couldn't say for certain as I don't have the lute, so haven't played with it, however, I would assume you could not mash a hotkey to instantly raise hp. Besides the fact that this would make you pretty-much invincable (I can hit a key pretty darn quickly), the way the bard healing songs tend to work is that hp go up during a tic calculator interval, not immediately upon completion of singing the song. Could be wrong, but that's what I've noticed.
the effect is clickable from inventory... but if clicked from inventory it dosn't add the instrument mod to the effect... you need to equip the instrument to get the instument mod, this goes the same with the Rathe Drum as well.
yeah i posted this about the chant on drums of the rathe too, but does the clicky wind of marr take into effect the mod on the lute? im assuming not, but hey, maybe...not that ill ever get one of these
DE mask is clicky in inventory but only bard / rogue can click...so I guess its only bard clickable. And even if any class would use, you think a bard in your guild would past on this for a random caster ?
Too bad this is insanely rare, like the other PoP elemental instruments. I only know of 1 lute, 1 drum and 1 horn on our entire server (elemental ones).
I think you are missing what he saw there. Bard have Very few ways to regen mana, and they DONT do it efficently at all. But this beauty of a bard item as 21!!!! mana regen per tick, for a bard!!! Whatever bard got this item wont be sitting around for an hour or 2 waiting on his/her mana to coem back. Grats to whoever got this, im sure your using it/cradleing it well :)
The only bard mana regen that will affect us that I am aware of is mental clarity aa and flowing thought items such as earring of solstice, helm of narandi, boots of flowing slime etc. At flowing thought VI, I regen 900 mana for Fading Memories in roughly 7.5 min. If you need to burn FM more then 2 times in 20 min then you are probably off your game and should log off and take a break. At 43 we get a 4 target aoe nuke that deals 300-500 dmg (depending on level and singing mod) but only use I've found is impressing a newb. 39 charm uses 60 mana these days, and 64 uses 90 --- with FT 3 you should have no problem swarm/chant kiting hardcore for an hour or so without having to kick back and let mana bar refill.
And chances are, like so many other right click bard song items, is that the effect will last longer than 18 seconds. If it's anything like singing steel boots, it can be a good 2+ minutes before you have to click this again.
The song on the SS Boots isn't an actual bard song, and that is why it lasts 5 minutes. Wind of mar on this instrument is the same wind of marr that bards actually get, and so will only last the normal 3 tics. But being an instaclick, makes it very easy to just add it to your regular twist, or add a different song if you were already twisting in wind of marr.
actually it only lasts 12 seconds (2ticks) as opposed to the usual 3 ticks. The Ornate bp is the same way. The reason for this is you dont have to wait to cast it. So a 12 second duration is understadnable. And btw...yes..SS boots is the same spell name as the levitate song.
The reason this lute is so handy is because it is an insane stringed mod and clickable from inventory. So while Chorus of life is a bit more regen a tick, when soloing and you dont want to mem mana song just have this in an open inventory slot, make a hotkey, bind it to a keyboard button and smack it whenever you need it. Keeps mana song outta your twist and prevents it from actually being interrupted. Which is a big plus when swarming about 30 mobs for farming purposes and such. But dont get me wrong this does have more conventional uses. I actually equip mine when raidin. Between mobs throw that lute in hand, twist CoL and thats about 90 regen/22 mana for 72 of your closest friends lol.
