just a few things...#1
2470 is a average nuke dmg delt by Wizzies at this lvl not a top. Take into account gear and AA's most Wizards at thie lvl consistantly crit upwards of 6k plus..and almost always over 2470..thats just the base dmg of our spell.
#2 SoS is so much more than a situational spell..if you are "raiding" and get noticed because you cast this spell..then something is clearly wrong with your raid party hehe..chain casting this mixed with concussion and you'll get killer dps without even so much as a summon.
So a 25% reduction of the mana needed to do this is amazing period.

Hey!! Bad enough SoE gimps us out, but now we got our very own wizards gimping us as well.

SoS does 2740 base damage not 2470. It is not average either, it is the same every time unless you get a partial which is rare. It will crit 5480 if you have at least SCF3. Then of course with focuses, ID4 etc, you can break 6k with crits.

Now as for chain casting that without getting summoned, you are in some fantasy land. If you do not have SCS3 you will get summoned very often with this spell, even if you try to weave concussion with it. And considering a lot of PoP boss mobs will resist concussion like mad, all I got to say is be sure you have a quick fingered healer in your group if you wanna try to chain cast. Cause I have plenty of experience with this. ;-) Anyway, ya it can do some wicked damage, especially if you get multi-crits during a fight.

Anyway, had to clear that up, I hate misinformation.

Concussion works every time. Resist or no. On an elemental raid I can SoS - concuss - Sos - Concuss in my guild. I tend to open with slightly lower aggro spell such as ice spear because I need the tank to build aggro.

But Concussion works even when resisted. Believe me I know I count on it.

As the guy below said, these got those resists on them as well, which makes them the gloves to wear when mr/cr is needed...
SoS is a situational spell, for the most part. Most people who wear these gloves are raiding elementals/time planes. SoS can get you noticed quickly by the mobs. In tier 3 of PoTime, for example, I waited till a mob was at 35-45% before casting this, which timed it to almost finish the mob off. I was insta-summoned and beat on with the mob at 0-1%.
The good things about these gloves is when you need SoS, you got an mana reduction focus that's pretty good. I did a wish list, these gloves are part of the final setup and I got them tonight, so I am happy =)

Focus Stacking

Actually focus effects do stack, just not *worn* ones. ID3 and Iceflame of E'ci stack, as well as ID3 and Rizlona's (the lvl64 bardsong).

just 2 things i would like to what branadar said.

first these give UP TO the percentage amount meaning it can be anywhere from 0 percent to 25 percent.
and 2 there is one exception to stacking but its a bard song and doesnt apply to these but to the damage focus items . i dont know if bards get a mana pres song but i doubt it but they do get a damage focus song that stacks with focus effects the same way thier song can stack with chanter haste and item haste to exceed haste cap.

like i said not really concerning this item but there is the 1 exception

oh forgot to add this says its a mana conservation item meaning spell cost less so you will still need the damage focus item too if this info is correct

Okay, let's clear it up...

Focuses do NOT stack. They act just like items with "Effect: Haste(Worn)" do... the higher effect will be used in checks.

So if you have these godly gloves, and, say, an improved damage 4 item that only ups damage by 10%, it will ignore the 10% item and do 25% more damage when you cast Strike of Solusek.

The same is true of all spell haste, mana preservation, improved damage, extended enhancement/affliction/etc type effects.

And as a side-note... affliction efficiency, which lowers mana costs, does not stack with mana preservation, though AE does reduce mana costs more than MP does (for the "affliction" line of spells, namely dots, a lot of debuffs and slows)

umm, just curious, does spell-type spell-haste stack with item-type spell-haste?... similar to melee haste?

doh, i is a ******, the basic question is do spell foci stack with item foci? I just subconsciously used specifically haste.

Wow look at effect
RE: effect
# Jan 06 2003 at 8:48 PM Rating: Default
if it will work with other spells then these are godly but if its inferno shock only then whats the point. someone that gets these clarify the specifics.
RE: effect
# Jan 07 2003 at 6:07 AM Rating: Default
If the effect grants full benifit to every cast of the spell inferno shock then with a base dmg/mana of 4.6 it outdoes any unmodified wiz nuke excepting Ancient Destruction of ice.

Of course with the standard 21% or so spell dmg modifying items out there you do get more bang for your buck with the 2740 top wiz nuke.
