I believe there are some FE's that work for bards, one i'm pretty sure of is extended range, not a huge thing for bards, but handy when trying to single pull one mob with another a few feet over his shoulder.
Spell focus items do not have any effect what so ever on bards. Haste as in silver chitin hand wraps and the like only affect weapon. The bard damage is only affected by instruments, AA, and Disciplines, and to a certain extent otehr songs nothing will affect the speed of the song you sing. Which bites and is in no way fair lol, but hey cant have everything.
Could you cite your sources when you say: "I saw so and so on this cite", so that one wondering can read the same thing you read, instead of contentig oneself with rumors?
For me, I bought some MR gear, saw that they were also haste iems, took some information, found out tht haste gear doesn't stack, wondered if it was working for me bardess.
I tested it out, I can play four songs when not interrupted, with or without the Haste gear, and no more. So *my* conclusion is that haste is not for songs. It *is* still for bard when going mellee, as it stacks with haste spells or songs (it seems not with both).
So the item resulting of the quest migth still be interesting for a bard *but not for his songs*. If the instruments are not worth more than the coat, which is arguable.
Focus Effects, in my memory, have NEVER worked for bard songs. Which is a bit fair, when you figure bards can play/sing songs while sitting, moving, and fighting, something that pure-casters only dream of. Also, most Bard songs don't suck mana like pure caster spells, so things like Mana Preservation would be completely useless. Probably easier, from a besign standpoint, to just give them their own line of 'focus' through instruments.
Just about all bard songs take 3 secs to cast. So will this item work for bard songs? Or does the min duration prevent it from working? Just want some clerification=)
Bards don't have focus items. They have instruments. Instruments work much better then normal focus items, the thing is, bards have nothing that extends the duration of their songs.
Not entirely true.. apparently a SPELL HASTE item will quicken even a bards songs (to 2.89 seconds instead of 3)
this aint mush but its a good way to get rid of that small bit of lag between twists.
this is a fact as tests have been done on casters realm to prove it, so dont bother to so it aint so. If some guy sits down for 3 hours and works out numerically the DPS of his twists, i aint gonna argue with him.
That's BS. Focus items (except for FT items) don't work on bards. Period. Whatever you read on castersrealm was just someone mouthing off. Bards already get (most of) their songs for no mana, so SOE decided that further improvements to their songs would be unbalancing, and a spell haste item would be THE most unbalancing ability of all... AFAIK, bards have no way to reduce the casting time of any of their songs, not instruments, not their epic, not any focus items anywhere in the game.
If they DID work, there would be a very simple way to check. Just equip the item and right click on a song gem. It would say 'Casting Time: 3.0 Your Casting Time: *reduced length*.' And the fact that you're talking about DPS (wtf?!) proves it... DPS is DAMAGE PER SECOND.
I'm sure this rumor just got started because people assumed that since this quest has a 'musical' theme, it must be a bard item.
I was not aware that focus effects worked on bard songs - assuming you are correct, the effect only works with Beneficial Spells. So your reference to DPS and this effect is misplaced.
