mask of the insightful

my guild has killed this guy about 6 times so far, dropped the mask about 4 times, each time using DKP it has went to a cleric or druid, guess if ya want it bad enuf you bid the points for it, and from these results the healers want it more than the rest. dkp rules - this mask is on my list. gonna wait a while to get it cheap tho hehe.
Casters / classes

I see alot of people saying this should go for this class or that class. I understand the line of thought that a cleric should get it , but if you are in this zone you have done VT with your guild and most clerics would have max FT from there. More then a few of our clerics and shammys who raid have maxed FT long ago, but not too many items are equippable by the hybrids. If you havent maxed your FT by the time you reach here you most likely skipped content. I think its a decent piece for any of the classes listed myself. Although its not good enough to switch from my VT mask.

The win on this item isnt so much the FT, it is the 20% ER. I would gladly pass this item to the heal chain so they can remain father away from a fight.
Huh? Casters too?

Um, for the peeps upset this isn't a "caster" item, guess agin foo, every class listed is a caster.

Caster as in "my mana is mainly used to go boom and hurt things," not caster as in "yeah, I can cast a spells."
Casters'

I have no clue why this ain't a Casters Mask. Even Wizards, Mages, Necros could benefit from this..

because there are other masks that priests and hybrids can't use. they can't make every item caster ot priest or hybrd or melee useable.

To all melees in trying to wrestle this out of a cleric's healing hands.

hmmm...since the only melees equipable are SK, Pally, and ranger...and they are all mana users, it's going to be raid points allocated to any who desire it

I hate to seem biased (since I am a cleric), but if a paladin, ranger, SK, bard, or BST tried to take this from a cleric based on dkp points they would promptly be shot. Not trying to call anyone a n00b out there, but Sebilrazen when you get to the end-game level of things, you will know that Druzzil's Distance is one of the *nicest* effects to have as a cleric when trying to CH someone and still stay out of AE range. There are three items in the game that have this effect that are equipable by clerics. They are the following :

1. This one.
2. An earring that drops off RZ
3. Bracer from PoE ring, Plate Class equipable w/ 41% haste.

Ok, so that's it. Personally if I could have it my way, I would want the haste items going to the pal / sk / rng / bst / brd types and the ft going to the clr / dru / shm types, but then again I'm crazy. Guilds that work on dkp systems and that are capable of dropping mobs like this know that, and therefore distribute amongst classes that are represented as needing it more based on the dkp of players within those classes. I don't know though, maybe there are guilds out there that work on a strict dkp system where you don't take into account these things..... of course those guilds are either full of warriors with Ifir and rogues with wicked shanks wondering why they wipe out on TT when they get into Time or they are still hunting in KC and waiting for the day they can put their strict dkp system to work.

*Edit* There has been a bracer discovered in Time that is cleric equipable with this effect and has FT3 on it. Forget the name of it, but that brings up the total count of items to 4.

guilds able to kill this mob have usually all casters or at least all clerics equipped with FT15. The foci itself is on different items, so there is no real problem.. DKP rulez ;)

Perhaps this particular focus is rare, but there are a number of similar focus effects found on similar items. Personally, I am hoping to get a Wristband of Judgement off Aten Ha Ra in Vex Thal, but I was suprised when a Bracer of the Silent Star Dropped, and it is very similar (although much improved) to the Windrider's Trinket that I wear now for the resists, but it has an added Range focus.

There are also player crafted items with extended range focus effects. They may not be the same focus as you were hoping for, they may not have the stats you were hoping for (and probably don't!), but ALL of these items are a good substitute in case you can't seem to get that one item that you had your heart set on.

As an experienced raider, I find it is usually best to have alternate items in mind for your wishlist - you may not kill that mob as often as you'd thought, it may not drop your item again, you may miss the raid where Tunare drops FOUR of her wonderful earrings (/cry), but you KNOW that your guild will continue to kill similar mobs for similar loot, growing stronger every day, and perhaps the loot you get instead will be better than what you'd wanted in the first place.

Of course, I still think it would be sweet to have Cazic's brain in a jar.
