Nice combat rating.. but where is the PROC? 14 dmg, come on need to catch that up with a speed or dmg proc.. Bring on the juice!
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 30 2002 at 10:53 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) umm....k You kind of lost me there guy. I see a dagger that is 14/19 +13dmg bonus that is not to shabby of a weapon, than put this in the hands of a Rogue who is maxed BS, man I hate to see the poor fellow they decide to stick with it. Hell I tell you what if you ever get this weapon and want to "throw it away" just post here first your toons name and server and I will go and make a rogue on that server to let you "Throw it away to"

Also impossible to get a newly created rogue into CoDb to loot this no drop, Gaeilge. First, CoD requires a flag from Grummus. 2nd, CoDb access requires a key from the Caprin cycle.
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 02 2003 at 2:02 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i see a level 39.. something, gain some levels this isnt that good, there are better things for backstabbing. if you didnt really care about damage but you really have to worry about aggro then you should use this, but if you want to backstab, there are a lot of 15 20 weapons that are better, and even some 16 damage that totally own this

Well, I will try and be gentle...

14/19 is not a very good weapon for the level this drops at. You basically will be 60+, more like 65, but will say 60+. You have to have fought a handful of PoP gods to get to the place you can get this. There are tons of weapons better than 14/19, and tons better than 14/19 with procs and better stats, all pre PoP, even pre Luclin.

Second you talk about giving it away, I know jokingly, but it is no drop. Also you talk about a rogue maxed in BS like every single rogue isn't maxed in BS, heh. Also, just FYI, 14 is pretty low for a main hand backstabber for a rogue 60+.

Now if this was not no drop, you might have had some merit to your post, but as it stands, this is a weapon that will rot or go to a warrior or ranger who wants to work their piercing skill.

This is a nice weapon, but as a 59 rogue the Gods know the last thing I would want on a weapon with this ratio is a proc to generate more aggro.

This is a sad dagger for that level of play. So, wait. Every single item to come out of the elementals should be absolutely top of the top? That seems a little unbalanced to me. Look at every single new expansion, every single new high-end zone, and you'll see the same thing. Fair to good stuff on most mobs, with some really uber items coming off the couple major mobs in the zone. Not every named mob is an uber. While I would agree with you had this dropped from, let's say, Fennin, I think you're being a bit unfair here. This item is far from sad. No, it won't win any awards for uberness. No, it's not going to make anyone drool over it. In all fairness, however, not everything can be uber. There has to be some throw-away stuff, just as filler. It definitely says something about how far gear has come in this game when a 14/19, 85+ HP piercer gets categorized as "throw-away" though.

I would normally agree with your conclusion, but I think you are missing a small point. To even hunt in this zone (and granted its only a tier 2) to get this item, you are 55+ (closer to 60) and have killed at least 1 uber mob to get flagged. That means that you most likely have better. For the most part, the people who don't have better, aren't in a position to get the flags necessary to ever see this item.

For some gear, I would agree with what you say. However, let's consider rogue piercers specifically and this zone specifically. First, Crypt of Decay is a zone that can be entered without killing a boss mob. It requires a quest but it can be done. Second, rogue piercers, until very recently, capped out at 15 damage. A 14 damage piercer for a rogue is actually very solid. It also has a hefty dose of HP, STA, DEX, and resists. So no, this is not a Sol Ro Tower drop but COD is honestly just an exp zone except for Bert. The pre-flag for Bert is not hard and just takes some discipline by the guild trying it instead of raw zergage.

Within 12 months zones like COD will be the new "Sebilis" of POP and there will be camp checks, etc., as groups of 65s routinely hunt here. It seems hard right now because the new levels and mobs are much tougher than what went before but just like when Kunark came out, people will adjust to the new levels and new mob damage output and soon this zone will just be another exp spot. When that happens, everyone will think this item is fine loot from an XP camp.

Heh quite honestly this is crap, and was crap the minute it was created. I Currently have 5 weapons better than this, and all of them are pre PoP. I don't know any rogues who could get this that would want it. Most warriors and rangers who would want to work piercing can get other weapons that are better for less effort. Wicked Shank, Tendonslicer come to mind(yes they'd go to rogues first, but they quickly start to rott as your guild's rogues aquire them or pass them by because they have better. This weapon would go to a twink alt of a member of an uber guild or more likely rot. This would be a decent pre velious weapon, but by luclin or pop standards in an era when the rogue epic can be done with 2 people(and a ride to hate) this is sadly lacking.
