It should go to rogues? why do you say that? rogues deal more with peircing usually, which this is not anyways. Unless they changed slashing to peircing since the pic was taken, and i really doubt that would happen.

This is a great weapon for anyone who could use it regardless, id like to get my hands on one for my ranger, if Jiva is ever nice enough to drop one during a raid

SHOULD? I don't believe in "should" ...

It should go the the classes/races that can use...as it is intended.

Not ONE class "deserves" an item more than another.

He didn't say Rogues deserve it... he said Rogues SHOULD get it... and I'd have to agree with him...

Rogues end up with the best Base ATK in the game, and then have damage modifiers that actually increase as their ATK increases so that they not only Hit the Enemies more because of their ATK, but they do more dmg then most other classes with the same base damage weapon.

Rangers also end up with high ATK, partly because of their buffs... however if we are playing the SHOULD game, they SHOULD be Bowing on almost all raid events to avoid Riposte and AE Ramp, and to clear up the floorspace for other melees.

Warriors can end up doing a pretty good deal of damage with a nice weapon, but still it wont match a rogue, and Warriors should be more concerned with weapons with at least a few AC on them.

As for bards, they have the same base Offensive skills as a Paladin/SK and no damage mod... obviously they arn't going to do the damage output by the preceeding classes. Because they don't even have double attack, there are many many Bard only weapons that have been "beefed up" just as there are many beefed up Paladin/SK 1 handers. Frankly, bards should worry about a Good Modifier and a good proc... this has neither.

In refernce to the guy that ROgs are supposed to get agro...well um...delete your char and start over newb...2nd point..for this going in the hand of a ROG period is a HUGE waste IMO ...tanks rangers bards..whoever gets this item..grats..BUT...let me just stress that there are MANY items out there with backstab mod % which should be reserved for a Rog. Please when you use that hard earned DKP to bid on an item ... "think" before u bid.

couple things.....

First, why do so many people think uber guilds only use dkp loot systems? I know of 2 EP guilds on Vaz (one of which I was a member) that use god loot, and personally I think it's better. DKP doesn't take into account the need factor. A guild will benefit more when someone gets a major armor upgrade as opposed to someone getting a few extra hp. Participation shouldn't be the only factor imo.

As far as rogue weapons, most rogues at the high end game will only be using a dagger in their main hand, for 2 reasons really. Most rogue useable daggers from tier 2 and up have a BS mod, and they don't stack. So it's not quite as useful carrying 2 uber daggers, especially if there is a rogue on raid who doesn't have a good poker yet. Second, they can do just as much dmg in offhand with a 1hb or 1hs as opposed to another piercer. There are quite a few choices for offhand weapons that will do loads of dmg.

And on a more personal side note, my rogue was using a dart of immobility before I quit playing, and I loved it. It doesn't create major problems as long as the user is paying attention to his aggro. You'd be amazed at how waiting 5 seconds at the beginning of a fight can help a warrior hold taunt. Besides, rogues are supposed to get aggro, that's why they have evade. :P

Unless your guild is filled with idiots, dkp system does fulfill the guild needs very well. 1) high dkp = high attendence. 2) why would you burn dkp on an item that isnt an upgrade. 3) One single item does not make a single noticeable differnece ona 2 million hp mob. So let the bidding begin and common sense prevail

The guild I am apping not only uses DKP to award loot, but they also track recent attendance. If your attendance drops below a certain % then you basically get the same shot at loot as applicants or alts.

As long as raid attendance stays high, winners are based on current DKP. So a person with 400dkp would get precedence over someone with 50, even if the item is 10dkp.

The system works pretty well IMO. As an app, I am not currently getting the best stuff, but then I have not yet put my time in. People who cannot deal with that are not going to stay in a guild that can get good loot for very long.

A person who has ALOT of DKPs is also the person who shows up on ALOT of raids to ern thsoe points -hence a person who DIRECTLy hsows how much he cares for the need of the guild-helpign others to get loot and flags -he/she is the person who deserve to rewarded in the way that person wants to be rewarded
On other hand in "Award" system, person shows up for 1 raid in month, get the MOST UBER ITEM that drops -just because his CLASS has most use of it -and doesn't show up for any other raid for another month untill guild raiding the target that drops somethign HE needs

So who deserves loot more?

Got this awesome weapon last night after our guild took down Jiva for the first time. This weapon fits the dps that i was after when not MT. So now when not MT I use this in main hand and off hand is Tarantella from Maestro. Must agree that the dd is nominal and it does not create much aggro. The thing most likely to cause aggro might be the dps but a good MT will have no problems maintaing aggro whilst you wipe away hp from mobs with this little beauty.
I have only done little parsing(only an hour) on the weapon since getting it but at this early stage is appears my dps has increased by about 20 to 25. I was hitting 88dps, i have no offensive AA either so can expect some upgrade on the dps once the AA bonuses would kick in. I used Yalp for parsing and was hitting BoT mobs.
I must say that the fight itself on Jiva was easier than expected. Whilst it would have been easy to mezz the adds, we just had seperate add group killing as they popped. Problem for most will be actually getting into the zone as others have posted. Good luck to anyone else who gets one.

Ok i'm going to chime a little here. I have this weapon, and i'm a 65 ranger. It's stats are all that are sweet, but thats not what i'm here for. All you warriors keep a moving this is a ranger weapon i have tripple proced with it in a row, and no agro it's in main hand also. You must kill Mithmarr, TZ,VZ,Bertoxx, Kepper of sarrows, saryn, and agnarr to get into the zone. If your guild can't kill emp in ssra most likly you will never see the zone. This is one of 5 mini mobs in solro tower, and you must kill and get flag from all 5 of them, and kill RZtW (in PoTactics,(Drunder forestest of zek) to get into solro's lair. Then onces hes killed you have acess to all PoP zones, but PoTime which takes killing all elemental bosses to get into. This encounter is easy. The dot he casts in mild, and the adds = spawns are messable. Well I'm out.

Sorry to burst your bubble Noco but this weapon would suite all classes that can use it, even warriors. In this stage of the game a warrior should have at least one enraging blow procing weapon. But have you ever considered what a warrior should wield when he's not MT in a raid or even in a exp group? This weapon would work for a warrior just for its dps when he doesn't have to worry about taking aggro or being MT.

I have this weapon, I'm a Warrior. Only two exist so far on my server and both are owned by warriors. The stats are very nice, 125HP in a weapon slot is an upgrade to just about anyone. It does have agro, but I don't use it in primary when I tank. I got this as a pure DPS and stat upgrade and don't regret it.

The proc is totally useless in sol ro and plane of fire(duh, hehe) but it lands very nicely just about everywhere else, further increasing the DPS of the weapon. Since I don't see it listed yet, this is dropped by the mini Jiva.

This is a great weapon for anyone that can get it, and it looks sweet too :)

Most posts on Alla are made by a person of so and so class that can wear an item, trying to deffend the case of their class, explaining how it'd benefit class XX the most, when in reality it reads "How my character would become better equipped".

It can get really annoying when trying to find real information on anything. I wish there were mods to cleanse these posts that add zero to the threads.

Agreed, who cares what weapon should go to what class cause of stats, proc, ect. When you reach this point of time, it's all decided by the dkp system. (dragon killing points i belive) Allthough I'm not sure how thats used since I'm not in a guild that uses that yet or that is in this stage of the game. I'm not sure if its the person who has the most points gets to decide what they want from the mob or what. I'm also sick of people bashing the warrior epic. I still think getting two blades that are 14/24 plus stats and proc are nice, sure not as nice as this weapon but still nice. Not to mention we get the 2hander to. We must face the facts, wich each expansion pack vi releases, they will make weapons better than our epics. Remember that epics came out with the Kunark expansion pack. I'm not sure what was avaiable at that time but I'm sure epic raids back then requiered a hell of a lot of force than what they require for now. Now, if anyone can provide some usefull information on how to get this weapon? Like how to get into this zone? Where this zone is? If you need to be flagged or get a key, where the mob is in the zone, whats the mobs name and how hard is it to kill? Thanks :)

Actually, Dumbass, Warrior epic remains very usefull because incase you were unaware the red blade has an aggro proc, now I don't know if you , as a p00n can get any taunt proccing weps other than epic (ha-ha to anyone who thinks this dinkleberry ever will get his epic) ,but I know that the only one's I have a shot at are blade of carnage and a cord hilted spiked pile driver. Also the blue blade has a huge dex buff when worn so it works very well with the red blades aggro proc, or about any proccing wep, so in closing stfu about stuff you don't know, and btw you are a f00l

Before you start saying how much more "uber" you are, have one dang clue of what the hell you're talking about. And, IMO, you got no -clue- as to what you're talking about. I know this is a long timed reply, but my god warrior epic wasn't even as good, compared to other's(rogue, for one)epic.

Seeing as this drops in Sol Ro's Tower most people that will be seeing this place either have BoC's, Hate Givers, Blood Frenzys and/or one of the many weapons that proc hate type spells. I would imgaine most warriors that far in to the game bagged epics long ago. Anywho thats a spiffy blade there.
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 23 2002 at 8:32 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Any warrior that does not have better would not turn this down. I would turn it down to pass it to a ranger or bard. I would say it leans more towards a rangers weapon due to the agi and mana. These are helpful stats to a bard as well. Why waste the +mana to a warrior or rogue?

I say this weapon should go war or ranger, rogues get plenty of crazy ratio daggers, and the crazy ratio of this 1hs would be wasted on a bard(both warriors and rangers get triple attack).

hehe, not that it makes much difference, but I might as well weigh in. Yes, this would be a pretty awesome weapon for all involved. The stats and HP are useful for a Warrior, Bard and Rogue, and the combination of stats are awesome for a Ranger. Personally, I wouldn't see a whole lot of warriors looking for this as a real tanking weapon. As was stated, damage-only procs are not very good aggro generators. You just have to look at the huge number of EB-proc weapons coming out for warriors now to see evidence of this. That being said, the damage potential on this is pretty intense, and not every warrior is going to want to run around with EB weapons 100% of the time. So, while a warrior might not be interested in this as a pure tank weapon, as a damage weapon (when not tanking, or tanking in most groups) this rocks.

As for Bards, a class I think is generally forgotten on high-damage weapons like this, I could definitely see the glimmer in any Bard's eye given the chance at one of these. Unfortunately, with all the singing and prancing those guys do, who really cares what weapon they have? ;)

For Rogues, I don't see the real draw. Damage is nice. Proc is nice. HP is nice. But, I would imagine most Rogues at this stage would be looking more for the 16 or 17 damage piercers. With the sheer number of Rogue piercers available from Luclin on up, I wouldn't see a huge fuss made over this.

This leaves Rangers, and for them, this is a damn fine weapon. Outstanding ratio, extremely useful stats, nice proc. Unfortunately, the only feature of this weapon that is really, really nice for Rangers is the raw HP/mana from it. When I say really nice, I mean a major upgrade from anything before it. It seems to me like the de facto weapon loadout for the really high end Rangers is the Render from Cursed, and AHB from Emperor. If they don't already have it, they want it. For those Rangers that haven't gotten one of those weapons, this is a killer choice. But, if you do have them, you'd probably think long and hard before really making a bid for this (using whatever loot system your guild maintains).

All in all, this weapon would probably be most desirable for Warriors, with Rangers right along side, followed by Bards. But that's just my opinion, and I could be wrong ;)

p.s. No Bards were intentionally hurt or insulted in the making of this post.

You missed what I was saying. I'm very aware that Rogues dual wield. However, if you look at the absolute abundance of piercers from Luclin on up, you'll see that Rogues already have their pick. Just looking at the newer PoP stuff, you have Ifir (better ratio than this), the Gold Runed Mithril Knife (roughly the same ratio, with slightly better stats), and the Dart of Immobility (almost identical, Rogue only, and an awesome proc). That's three piercers, one of which is Rogue only, two of which come from the same zone as this. I'm not saying that Rogues shouldn't or wouldn't ever desire this. I'm simply saying that, in general, there are equally or more desirable alternatives. I stand by my opinion (which is all it is, not some kind of fact or dogma, just an idea) that this weapon would probably be most desired by Rangers and Warriors, followed by Bards, then Rogues.

Ifir is most likely the Holy Grail for most rogues. Being that it drops of of Fennin Ro, the God of Doomfire, its not exactly easy for most to just run out and get. There are several fine daggers to choose from though. This is certainly a fine DPS weapon for whoever wants it, and Grats to them for getting it.

Most rogues that I know hate the proc on the Dart of Immobility. The aggro reduction is not enough to completely offset the snare aggro. Also, while the Gold Runed Mithril Knife may be better, it might not be accessible to guilds who are in Sol Ro, but not in elemental planes yet.

I would think the warriors would pass on this seeing how the proc isn't that great of an aggro enhancer. I myself as an enchanter have a hard time pulling aggro off my sk buddy I always group with and he is far from uber. We had a double epicced ranger trying to outtaunt him and could not do it for any more than a single round of combat the whole fight. If your warrior can't keep aggro with rangers and rogues duel weilding 2 proccing weapons and backsatbbing/kicking/whatever else rangers and rogues can do with there new aa ***** then I think you need to get a shadowknight tank. Thats just my opinion and what do i know really?
RE: don't read if you aren't gonna flame me
# Dec 22 2002 at 9:23 PM Rating: Default

Not a flame, but a response.

I as a warrior would love this, and would probably replace one of my epics with it. Awesome DMG/DLY ratio on it, good stats. Aggro is EVERYONE's responsibility. If I have to "take it", I'd rather let the ranger or rogue die a few times to learn to know what gathers aggro and what doesn't, and balance it approprately. Likewise, when I'm not MT I make sure to keep myself from gathering undue aggro.

Chanters? Well, they gain aggro by being near the mob. Bards seem to be rather tastey on the menu too.

And before you flame, I know PLENTY of rangers, rogues, wizards, chanters that can manage aggro and do a dang fine job overally. And keeping the dmg on the right person might seem to slow donw the dmg dealt, but the fights go faster :P

In one respect Dennik is right, if you are hunting in a zone like the Tower of Sol Ro <and would like to survive to loot something:)> then chances are your Tank's are going to be wielding EB procc'ing weps<BoC etc.>, or at least one's with a nasty stun element to the proc <SoD etc.> or a slow <Wavecrasher, Willsapper etc.>. Straight DD proc's such as this don't cause all that much taunt, EB <obviously> as well as slows and stuns do <ever try to pull aggro from a pally that was chain stunning the mob? or the chanter/shammy that just slowed it? :p>.
I wouldn't say that this should go to a ranger first it's a quality weapon for any of the classes listed, but in my mind I would think of it first as a Ranger/offhand Rogue wep. Thats all a moot point though, because by the time you have the ability to get this you'll most likely be doing DKP and the whole opinion thing will be right out the window. :) But I say Grats to anyone who get's it.
p.s. Actually the only reason I even posted this here was in reply to Rbecka's annoying little bit of drivel. I love the "Mr.Ranger" comment and the wonderfully condescending tone throughout. First of all his post was just an opinion<which he stated>and yet you chose to flame him for it, secondly and much more erksome is the fact that you were acting as if you actually had a clue what the hell you were talking about. :D
Edit:Not saying by the time you get there your tanks will still be using Willsapper and Wavecrasher, just using those as examples.

It's the rangers job to keep from getting aggro, the warrior can't do anything but mash the taunt and kick button and pray. Just because the warrior doesn't have a aggro generating weapon doesn't mean they don't know what they're doing.
RE: Know your role
# Dec 24 2002 at 6:16 PM Rating: Good
If you don't have the gear to MT then don't, aggro should always be a wars first concern then hps and ac. It kills me to see some guy saying he will give up his war epic for this, this IS NOT a high aggro peice, stuns, snares and lifetaps are way better aggro then a straight dd.

There is a tad bit more to regaining aggro after a slow then mashing a button and praying. For one I beleive disarm works as a taunt when it is failed, have never verified this due to such a low cap on mine. Another is sitting down to regain aggro while taunting. These are just a couple of practices of good tanks in exp groups that I have noticed.

I do agree that not getting aggro should be just as much a priority to anyone else in group. I have noticed that some hybrids and casters tend to forget this and try to make a competition. Thats when things can get ugly and a ping pong match ensues with the Cleric hitting the "Ohh for the love of god, get it off me!" button.

So in the end it is all a case of knowing youre class and when to load root instead of that great stun that will **** off the MT, or bidding/buying that somewhat lower in dps sword cause you know it will pay off in the aggro dept.

BTW, this is among the best ratio weapons a war or ranger can get, theres a 17/19 weapon(ivory hilted cleaver) and theres 17/20, this weapon and the one of agnarr(its not 20/25 it got nerfed to 17/20 and allakhazam is late to update). Of course PoP is not completely farmed yet so there will be more weapons with these ratios.

Not all but a large amount of the rangers and warriors that are able to get to these mobs have a pair ssra weapons with 16/19 and 16/20 ratios and some will even have picked up one of the few weapons with ratios right under this one.

How can you say "a warrior should have better by the time" and "ranger first unless they have better" this IS the best. My guess is this weapon will be going to both rangers and warriors who have just below crazy ratio weapons in offhand.

Congratz on this weapon to whichever class gets it=)
