Stupid Question ...
# Mar 08 2004 at 9:58 AM Rating: Default
I was wondering if this effect (and others like it) stack with the Imporved like of effects. So if you had Imporved Damage 4 and this item would the effects stack?
RE: Stupid Question ...
# Mar 09 2004 at 10:22 PM Rating: Decent
Won't stack. The highest focus effect will trigger, so for a cold based spell the rod will go off and add up to 23%, all other DD spells will have ID4 increasing up to 20%.

Dang I forgot to explain a little further. What I meant is that only one item in a set of the focus effects will trigger but other focus effects can go as well. So you can have mana preservation, extended range, spell haste, and improved damage trigger for the same spell but not multiple improve damage effects.
Level requirement?

I don't see a required level on this although the Allakhazam description say required level of 46. I see them in bazaar (down to 5K now) and there is no required or recommended level. Lucy does not show a level for effect either.

Does anyone know how low of level this would work for?

I am looking at this in Xev bazaar right now. There is no level requirement and no recommended level either. Did this change?

Looking at it in Bazaar now - Recommended level of 34. I don't see a required level.

My level 7 trader has one equipped. Dunno about effect.

This item has a very nice look when it is equipped as well as a particle effect. Effect resembles the particles that appear when you cast invisibility.

This Focus effect raises the damage of cold-save DD spells (other than the wizard dragon and giant bane spells), doesn't effect DoTs. There are 4 of these Focus effects, Anger of E'ci is cold-based, Anger of Ro is Fire based, Anger of Druzzil is Magic based, and Anger of Solusek is All spells (basically, it's 25% Improved Damage IV).

What is the recipe for making this rod with the effect of "Anger of Solusek"?

Anger of E'ci is 23% dmg

Improved damage 4 is 20%

Uses?
# Dec 23 2002 at 12:16 PM Rating: Decent
If I understand the spell description correctly, it only affects instant cast damaging spells, and the target gets a save vs. cold to avoid the extra damage. I guess this would be useful for a melee's range spot with a high damage proc weapon. Is there any other possible use?
RE: Uses?
# Apr 12 2003 at 11:26 PM Rating: Decent
by instant, it means DDs, this does not increase damage on cold based dots

If other people are reading this right, it only works on cold based spells (and dose not add a resist check, just the origional check). Personaly, I'm not sure about that restriction but it sounds reasonable. Also, in a post under the effect description someone using one said it dosen't add to his JBB, so would assume it wouldn't work for any proc effect either. All in all, sounds like it would be good for wizards, shamman, and high level druids. Honestly, considering what you need to go through to gather the components for this perticular item, and what you could of made instead, it should of been a little more general (at least all DD spells instead of just cold based, or maybe add a mana reduction as well.). Ah well, I don't think you'll see many of these being made. Its nice, but not nice enough.

edit: sorry, thought this one had the bloodmetal as a component. You'll probably find a few of these being made, but after 6 months it should be fairly cheep. Right now it probably would go for WAY too much, as most player made items do when first introduced.

Just so I'm reading it right... Anger of E'ci excludes "Uber Giants" and "Uber Dragons" as targets? hmmm... ah well, this wouldn't be the first time Verant's slipped something like that into the spell data file... Wizard Mastery, anybody? ;)

I think when they say uber giants and dragons they mean the spells directed at those. dragon bane, and giant bane.

I know what it means... just the fact that they actually use the word 'Uber' in the spell data file to describe mobs sort of got my attention ;)

It's just Allakhazam's "spell data" that lists that, the actual spell data file lists numbers of spells it will not work with. Here would be a better data listing..

1: Increases spell effectiveness up to 23%
2: Restriction: Spells level 65 and lower
3: Restriction: Only applies to 'Hit Points (HP)' spells
4: Restriction: Affects 'Instant' spells only
5: Restriction: 'Detrimental' spells only
6: Restriction: 'Location Based AoE' spells excluded
7: Restriction: 'Point Blank AoE' spells excluded
8: Restriction: 'Target Based AoE' spells excluded
9: Restriction: 'Giants Bane' spells excluded
10: Restriction: 'Dragons Bane' spells excluded
11: Restriction: 'Cold' resist spells only
