Posted:Mar 03 2003 at 11:45 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I HERE THIS SWORD IS THE BEST WEP IN THE GAME FOR A WARRIOR WITH DMG RATIO AND ALL AND I THINK THERE HAS ONLY BEEN 2 THAT DROPED SO FAR THROUGH OUT THE GAME?
Too bad they gimped the hitpoints on this. How many melee want to give up 100hp or so for a 2H?
To be comparable to dual 1H or 1H and shield that melee are using that would be able to kill RZ---this would need a minimum of 200hp 200mana to stay even with 2 1H weapons with 100+ hit points each.
This is a weapon that allows you to gain great taunt while reducing your hitpoints. Sounds cursed to me.
When you are fighting mobs that will riposte for 1800+ why wouldn't you want a hard hitting slower weapon? I don't think the loss of 100hp is gonna bother anyone who can save a few hits for that kind of damage. I'm sure their clerics will agree.
(the day i take down rallos zek and loose a roll on this to a ranger is going to be the last day i ever play my warrior, i will seriously camp him out right then and there in rallos zeks throne, and let him live out his unplayed retirement in the place of ultimate conflict)
Okay, here we go again another warrior who thinks he should have it all. This should not be a warrior only weapon. Who gets the most HP in the game? Who has the best armor in the game? Who has the best DMG taking ability in the game? Everyones opinion may vary but I always believe in taking care of my guilds MT and second MT if they need it they got it, however if they do not need it, it is def Pally first and toss up between ranger and warrior. The reason I say ranger and warrior is for the simple fact that a ranger who cannot get a decent LOS needs to melle the added wis is great but the STA and HP for a class that doesnt get much to begin with is great. If your ranger has AM3 and Endless quiver he might not complain but if it was me I would tell you have a nice retirement.
Basically, any top end guild that can take this out will use a point system anyways. If some ranger wants to spend his hard earned points on this more power to him. But, rangers that can achieve this level of play will not be throwing around their points like candy at a macy's day parade. The only time I would bid on this item if all our warriors didnt want. Warriors have hard enough time keeping aggro from 50 60 peeps banging on a mob, they dont need some pally/sk/ranger using this weapon and instantly taking away aggro and getting raid killed off. I would love this weapon, but only can use for exp groups, and if your at this level, 90 percent of your time is spent raiding anyways and would be waste of valuable points. I see alot of peeps saying if i ever see this class or that class with this weapon, or what class is really best for this or that weapon, and I chuckle at these comments. When you can achieve this level of play, everyone pretty much knows what is needed for themselves and will spend their points wisely.
alright, first off i never stated i ever wanted nor even think "i should have it all." but i do most certainly think that one of the most aggressive wpns in the game should only ever be won, owned and used by a guilds ma, not even sa unless they also play the role of ma alot. do you even have the foggiest clue as to what this proc does? it automatically adds 700 points to your name on your targets hate list. now if i am on a raid and some silly little ranger had something like this and stole my agro, how long do you think that ranger is going to last? not more than a few seconds if he's lucky, because just as you said, my class gets "the most hp in the game", "the best armor in the game", and "the best DMG taking ability in the game." it only makes sense that only the class that fits all those qualifications should have and weild a wpn that is going to keep them at the top of every hate list they get on. plus if you had any clue as to the amount of time and effort that goes into setting up and running a full out raid on a place like drunder, you would realise that the few guilds that ever do take rallos down are not going to be your average saterday afternoon bridge club style of guilds. they are almost always going to be large scale raid guilds with only 55+ lvl folks who do little if any hunting that would put a ranger into any sort of aggressive group roles. the simple fact that a ranger MIGHT come into the rare situation that they would have a reason to use this wpn at that lvl should put them right off this list of usable classes right from the start. now pallies and even more so, sk's. they would find themselves in an ma position off and on quite a bit in average everyday groups, but still, this is the top end wpn for any ma, which in any serious guild will always be a warrior, combine that with the rarety and difficulties in obtaining this item, and there is no way in hell anyone but a war should honestly ever hold this, with the rare exception that you are in such an uber guild that you take rallos down on a regular basis and have already equiped your ma's and sa's with these, which isnt something thats going to happen for a bit of time yet. so think a little before you start flaming with all your unintelligible nonsense and start looking into getting your ranger a wpn thats more in line with their real role in this game.
We use a points system, and if any ranger ever bid on this (we have smart rangers, they haven't), he would be ostrasized right out of the guild for sure. Points systems aren't an excuse for idiocy.
hmm, not that i am complaining or anything, but this wpn that drops off the patrion god of WAR, and has the name, blade of WAR seems like something i would expect to only able to be weilded by the mightest of WARriors who have helped to take down the mighty rallos zek the WARlord, hehe. i also play most all the hybrid classes, and love to see high end wpns opened up to them. but when you look at the fact that warriors are meant to be the masters of armed combat getting the highest 2hs skill in the game by at least 10-25 points over any hybrid in the game. its not even the best ratio 2hs, so hybrids cant say they are getting screwed over by not having this wpn as an option. plus look at the top end 1hs wpns, which i whole heartedly agree should be pally and sk wpns, being that they only get to use one at a time, and warriors would be 1 man killing machines weilding 2 swords with the kinda of ratios that are on the best of the best pally and sk 1hs wpns. but my point is, this wpn is totally aimed at warriors in every way shape and form besides the class restrictions, the day i take down rallos zek and loose a roll on this to a ranger is going to be the last day i ever play my warrior, i will seriously camp him out right then and there in rallos zeks throne, and let him live out his unplayed retirement in the place of ultimate conflict, the home of the warlord himself.
and one more thing, if specialty hybrid classes get to use wpns like this, how come my warrior, who can get just as good at archery as far as skill goes, and be just as good at fletching as any of the best rangers out there, cant use something like the trueshoot? i could get even more use out of it, seeing that i cant have archery improving spells cast on myself, it seems only fair that if something like the blade of war that should rightfully be a war only wpn is opened to other classes, that some other nice wpn that are specific to classes, yet just as usefull to others and open them up to them as well, doesn't it?

I think this sword would be awsome for Pal/SK. Just like any melee class, they too carry around an ******* of weaponry that is usually situational. How many of you have ever been on a high end raid and have seen Pal/SK tank adds for crowd controll when the mobs were unmezzable? Well, those mobs have to be tashed, slowed and debuffed also and this weapon would help ensure that the CC tank keeps agro. Also, about 50% of my regular xp groups lately have had either Pal or SK as main tank and I would have loved to have seen them using this. Besides, how would this weapon pull agro from a "taunting" warrior duel wielding BoC and Hategiver, both of which have this proc with faster delays..?
Pallies don't need a weapon to get agro. We have two low level, low mana, fast casting stuns that give excellent agro. Three stuns and a Taunt, and we have a lock. This is guaranteed, unlike waiting for a slow weapon to proc.
The weapon has sweet stats, but there are many options for hybrids, and we really don't need the proc as much as a warrior does.
IMHO, this blade goes to every warrior in the guild before anyone else should even consider bidding for it. Since its not like any guild is farming for this item, your guild will probably have 3-6 attempts to get this, and will have more than 6 MT capable warriors on roster.

16 dmg over the the dly? thats sick. This sword is an iffy situational weapon. As a paladin I would leave this alone untill all the warriors in my guild had one then I would loot to use while in an xp group only. Your MT having a hate procing weapon in a raid makes all the difference in control. Im a strong supporter that paladins and SK make better xp group tanks and this sword... well it just might make my job too easy. However, you wouldnt catch me dead with this sword in my hand on a raid. Darn shame cause the wis and int is nice for paly and SK. Before you all start whinning take take a look at the Ornate Greatblade. I think we have had our fair share of 2H weapons so im going to hand this over to the warriors and tip my hat.
I'd love this, but it's entirely situational, actually for any player. I'd certainly not bid for it over a warrior who needed it no matter how many points I had, and could only use it in exp groups -- but *oh* would it be fun there.

Posted:Dec 20 2002 at 9:47 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) as much as i hate it, i would not be caught using this in a raid situation (i am a shadow knight)...and i hope the pali's and rangers (/laugh) wouldnt be either...this thing has huge aggro on it with the ratio alone, but adding in that proc is just sickening, esspecially someone with primal/ancient prismatic, with avatar they will proc this sword time and time again, tearing the aggro away from the warrior that is SUPPOSED to have it.
Wow, this has to be the sweetest 2hs I have seen yet. Unfortunately I am no where near being able to attain these uber weapons. Someday, someday I will be there.

I'm gonna pop a vein next time someone says "someday I will get this thing!" Take a good look at the Rallos Zek encounter at Afterlife or Fires of Heaven's website, I'm in a raiding guild and I don't even think my guild will try him within 5 months, lol.
1. The original poster never said "someday I will get this thing!" He spoke more generally of getting "this sort of" weapon. Keep in mind that to a mid-50s working-on-my-first-Velios-armor sort of character this is functionally equivalent to Palladius or any other post-epic raid level weapon.
2. Being in a raiding guild indicates nothing about what you may or may not be able to attain. It's really about how much time your guild's players are willing to spend raiding/leveling/aaing/etc and how well you plan and execute those raids. I'd put bets on a guild made up of mid-30s getting leveled and equipped and getting this sword before a guild full of post-60s based solely on how well they plan raids and how well the members of the guild executed those plans.
In terms of equipment, I suspect that you can't even think about taking this guy down until you a) loot up in the other planes or b) loot up in VT. Either way those will take your guild quite some time to get through (VT alone takes about 1-3 months to gear up for including keys/banes/emp kill/etc). So overall, I think the path to this item is this (please post corrections as appropriate):
1. Get a guild (hint: you need at least 2 each of shamen, clerics, chanters and MTs plus a stable of good damage dealers like wizzies, rogues and monks. Eventually you will need even more of these core classes). 2. Get everyone to at least 50 3. Basic raiding experience in places like Kael, Velks, Old Sebilis, Greig's End, etc. 4. Gear up in UP, Kael, PoJ, etc. 5. Get everyone to at least 60 6. Start doing the easy parts of Ssra and the Emp/VT key quest. 7. Once you are well equipped and have the basics of the VT key and can take down a normal Luclin boss, try yout skills on the Cursed/Creator event. 8. Once you're able to get past that, start baning up for the emp. 9. Once you've done that move on to the emperor and get the VT key. 10. Once you've done that, you're about 2/3 of the way there. Now start raiding in VT and gear up. 11. Begin slogging through flag events in the planes. Once you can reliably take down the bosses leading up to RZ, you are ready.
I estimate that will all take you about 2 years if you raid hard and often. Less if some of your guild are experienced and equipped already.
I hope this helps folks out. Believing that you can get this weapon is fine. Believing that it is just a matter of time (either large or small) is delusional. It's a matter of your guild's collective skills.
Most beautiful 2hs i have seen to say the least :) I would guess the pic was taken from the Fires of Heaven website as Furor has it posted there. As far as I know Fires of Heaven on Veeshan and Afterlife on Mith Marr are the only guilds who have managed to take down the God of War. I'm far from being able to even enter the presence of Rallos my self so i can't say much as to the battle but both guilds have some info on their websites.
I believe the FoH site can be found at www.FoHguild.org and Afterlife at www.afterlifeguild.org as well (just a side note, FoH's site isn't exactly PG as Furor tends to use some colorful language, quite funny imo but just a warning to those who may be offended)
Congratulations to both FoH and Afterlife on a job well done, as well as any others who have managed to take down the big guy, although those two are the only ones i personally know of at this time.

heh nice weapon. even though rnagers SKs and pallys can use this, a warrior would benefit from the aggro most. think about it, if you were in a fight then a hybrid class proced it then they would die if they werent main tank. if you do have one by all means use it but if your not the main tank in your group i would advise agaisnt it. the healers might get mad at you :)
...And as a ranger, I can also reverse the proc's effects in about 1 second. Hoho Jolt? But you're right though, even though this would make a fine ranger weapon for it's ratio alone. The enraging blow proc makes it much better suited for Tank based classes. Don't get me wrong, I can still tank *some* things and don't even get my started on how ranger's can tank because I and many of my fellow rangers can probably tank more things than you could ever expect.
It's all about how well you use your spells and your gear ofcourse =)
Certainly as a ranger I wouldn't want this, and if I was playing a paladin/SK in a group/raid with a warrior I'd swap this out for a less taunting weapon, but there are still some cases where the main tank in a group is a paladin/shadowknight, and in those cases they would want the taunt that this generates.
Jolt is not > enraging blow, chaining jolt is a pain in the ***, but can you say well worth it? All you guys **** and moan if this ever went to a ranger boo hoo boo hoo. Yea I agree a warrior should get rights to this, but once your ma and sa have them whats it matter if you get one or I the ranger get one? substandard warriors dont need anything like this, I have a problem with second rate warriors walking around with BoC and now here they are once again ******* and moanin, half you people will never see the warlord but in SCREAM! shots, so whoof whoof if it has RNG writin on it, better believe i want it just as much as any damn warrior sk or pally
You can lose aggro in 1 second huh - trust me if your not a def stance warrior - 1 second is WAY more then he needs to kill you.
As for wether most people will get to see this guy. Im not in a uber guild, top end yes, top server, no. However, PUBLIC rading on eci is in the process of flagging people on tallon and vallon, i think rallos is not long off.
