I agree, the mr helps a lot in pvp for bards as well

Okay...

I made one this morning. The success ratio is way out of whack. Took 4 attempts and 64k in materials to make it. Guess we can blame the rng for this one.

Anyway there is one on Povar now. For informational am 250 GM smith and a trophy and still took 4 attempts.

I am 12 for 12 on hurricane plate and chain armor. I would suspect I have had good luck, just as you have had bad. With a 308 trivial, the success rates should be in the 50-65% rate, higher than blue diamond cultural, which trivials at 335.

failure raid. failure rait at 250 skill is about 30-50% it seems

weak :/
# Apr 24 2003 at 9:56 PM Rating: Default
for the parts associated with acquiring this- it's rather weak.

1)stormrider blood: I can solo these. 5-6% aaxp per kill puts them down as the worst xp mobs in the zone. as solo kills, quite doable with my wizard if you know how to do it. storm rider blood is semi-common.
2) drop of pure rain. This is pretty rare, as is the sandstorm pearl.

good for xfers I suppose.

Well, I'm a warrior so I can't solo the Koka'vor that drop the Storm Rider Blood but I can say that in a group of 6 the exp you get for them is equal to the exp when you kill a PoS giant, so I'd say it's not bad at all.

Besides, it's the blood you came for, right? And that's a common drop on the Koka'vor. I'd say there's a good 50 % chance of one to drop per kill.

The drops of pure rain and sandstorm pearl you need from Bastion of Thunder are another thing though. Normally I get one drop in two hours of farming. :(

Siphar better stick to brewing bud
# Feb 01 2003 at 4:19 AM Rating: Excellent
Siphar you are nuts! I would like to see you get GM smithing in 2-3 weeks. Brewing and baking maybe but surely not smithing NO WAY! You can get master(100) easily yes and you will NOT profit trust me. To get GM at smithing without doing the vahr shar quest(which takes months of camping swirls etc and drops are no rent) you are gonna spend months upon months of getting items. You are gonna need acrylia after 188 and that isnt cheap nor fun when blocks dont stack. Oh did i forget to mention that you also need tempers after 188, and padding which of course neither drop. Lets say you had 500k to spend on smithing I bet it would still take 3months min to get enough supplies from the bazaar to get GM. In the end you are gonna loose huge amounts of money which will take you just a few months to turn around once you do reach GM. Sorry for the bash but your statement sucks and is a insult for us who put in the time and work. And yes I am a GM woot farwater gear now!

would just like to add in that i have a friend on the Aro server that decided to start smithing..took him 5 days of 8hr shifts smithing to get skill to 200...wont even bother to mention the fortune he dumped into it..but now he has to constantly farm stuff...as far as fletching..i am a fletcher my self..and after 165 skill you hafta use silver tips to build higher and personally i dont like spending 100pp per stack...and thats just the tips..so that 2-3kpp and a couple days to GM a trade skill was wrong..

Nice for Iksar Warrior too. 51ac, 65 hp and +9 dex, plus saves!

One of the best features of this armor is that it is all race, and has no deity restriction. This makes it attractive to 1) iksars, who typically cannot wear plate, 2) Vah Shir, who got left out of the blue diamond cultural plate, and 3) those oddball race/deity combinations, that result in someone not having ANY choice of cultural armor (agnostic ogre, for example (or was that agnostic troll)). Anyway, the point is, yes there are better armors for SOME race class combos, among the cultural armors, but for those who get no cultural, or a weak unimbued version, this may be a nice choice!

RE: this and that
# Dec 11 2002 at 11:49 AM Rating: Excellent
I have to agree that it is fairly easy to get to MASTER (100 skill). But GRANDMASTER (250 skill) is another story, unless you just happen to have about 50kpp lying around gathering dust. And with skills like smithing, you have to rely on farming other products which takes time, or have the money to buy it (one stack of padding goes for 400-600pp in the Bazaar). Many of the other components for high level smithing are no drop.

You are right in a sense that you can just go out and get fletching up there, and probably jewel craft, only because the components are vendor bought. But try that with tailoring and smithing, it's a lot harder to get skill up to the point where you are making the big money. And now with things such as this breastplate, you must be close to grandmaster in other professions as well. Please do not make it sound like everyone will be wearing things like this because it's so simple to get to the point where you can make it. It's just not going to happen that way.

fletching
# Dec 12 2002 at 10:25 AM Rating: Default
for fletching, to get your skill above 201 you have to farm acryllia, i'm not sure for cultural fletching though. acryllia is a pain to get.
RE: fletching
# Dec 12 2002 at 1:29 PM Rating: Default
You dont have to farm anything to get to above 201 Fletching. Normal arrows from the old world take you to 202. From there you can make Darkwood Bows to 235 and from there Shadewood Bows to 250. It just requires cash and patience.

I have both but refuse to spend all my money on a skill. I have no problem farming acrylia to make it cheaper.

A bard would also be very happy with this, as our mana pool comes from our intelligence... and a charming bard is a happy bard :)
