I am a druid and I got this weapon last night. It was going for low DKP and I really wanted it as it has a whole lot more HP than the p.o.s. I had before that I couldn't even make a whack at any mob with. Not like I go up and melee stuff on a regular basis but I do spend most of my time in duo with a ranger. And, he makes me pull. So, this is great for me b/c I don't have to waste time casting to get a mob I can just go pretend to hit it and run! As soon as my boyfriend, the ranger, has sufficent aggro I can hit from behind. Yep, nice for me. I did win this against a bard and do kind of feel bad about it tho. But, I REALLY wanted it. And, it was an upgrade. Did I mention how cool it looks? Sorry guys but even a wimpy druid needs something to hit with and this thing just LOOKS druidly with all the green sparkles that radiate from it.

I realize this post is 2 years late, but hey this isn't really directed at the person who posted but this brings up a good point. I cant stand it when people think that just because a weapon has an ok ratio that a caster shouldn't get it... I mean, you deserve that weapon just as much as the bard, no matter how much DPS as long as it was an upgrade. dont feel guilty, there is a reason why druids can use it.

I know this comes few months late, and this is by no means directed at the above poster, but I really find it quite annoying when people deprive fellow raid members who can BEST utilize a certain piece of gear simply because it is an upgrade for him/her.

Ok, you're a caster and you want a cool weapon. So, do your raid a favor and allow those who could BEST put the thing to use, then, once any melee who will use it has it, bid on it.

Nothing kills me more than greedy raiders who seek to win something for their own benefit, but not for the raid's.

from my experience, if something is going for low dkp, alot of people may not want it. derka derka. let the druid have it. and you don't always worry about the raid, you have to worry about yourself too, because most of us don't raid 100% of the time, and there is alot of solo time for us....so nice equipment helps that. and durids need mana. i win.

I got this weapon when my guild took down Bertox a second time (for those who needed backflagging). We are not uber, having just killed RZTW the first time after many failures, and we jointly raid with another guild to facilitate our progress. I like the weapon and use it often. When solo, I start with my Epic, Earthcaller, get the Slow and DoT from it, then switch to The Rotting Fist and get an additional DoT plus a terrific damage/delay. Nice stats as well. Not an end-game item, but who cares? Very appropriate for the encounter.

Us rangers would like some respect regarding this item....would server much greater purpose on a ranger as a bsts 1hb maxes at 225. RNG 1hb is 250, so all you bst do your math

Beastlord 1HB no longer maxes at 225. It now maxes at the same level as all other weapon abilities.

As a druid i would much rather have a class that cause use the meele components of this weapon then just the stats sure they are nice but you can get much better much easyer. Personally id rather have a Focus Crystal from Rhag 1 in Ssra temple easy mob for 2 grps to kill and is on a 3 day timer. Link for Focus Crystal below

At this point in the game, most beastlords should have far better h2h weapons. I'm by no means in a guild that is close to taking down Bert, but whenever we do I would never bother with this peice of crap. I suppose it isn't too bad, but most classes should have something by then with better dmg/dly. It does have good stats though.

Got one of these on a bert raid last night, the weapon is fruckin sweet, hella DPS and looks awesome, the proc doesnt cause much agro though, and me being a 65 warrior its only semi-decent =/. I dont regret buying it with my points though. An EB weapon in primary with this bad boy in secondary would be strait for agro I think.

Too many people think that a warrior's only job is too hold aggro. I am the third tank in my guild and I am used mostly as DPS. This is of course true until my number is called to tank. When this time comes I can slip in my BoC and welcome to aggro town.

Given the above, The Rotting Fist is a very good offhand DMG dealer for most any DPS class that can use it. The proc weilds low aggro but adds more DPS.

I use the combo of CHSD w/ anger 2 and this with anger 2, hold aggro better than alot of combos I've seen.

Not as good as a BoC, but it's very nice still.

scrouge is a very low aggro proc, 40dd and a 24hp/tick dot.... aggro is not an issue when debating this weapon heh. Warrior everytime? More then likely by the time a warrior is fighting bertoxulous he already has a bloodfrenzy and a blade of carnage
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 12 2003 at 10:17 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) um bloodfrenzies don't drop like candy, no idea wth u got that from, but most warriors are using spiked cord hilted drivers + great blade of storms...if your MA most likely have a BoC + Blood frenzy.

Why is it that everytime there is a very nice item that is rogue usable witha proc everyone says Rogue uses this he is dead??? Poisoning your own blade when going into battle with a poison that way outdamages this weapon proc never gives me enough agro to kill me. By the time a rogue would be getting this item he should have enough decent armor that he wouldn't be taking crazy damage from getting agro, and he should be able to evade well enough and the warrior taunt well enough to get agro back in less than 3 or 4 hits. Might suck for the cleric who then has to heal the rogue, but he shouldn't die. Assuming the rogue has taken time to make friends or find a decent guild he should have Shadow armor or better by the time he would be getting this weapon.

"Why is it that everytime there is a very nice item that is rogue usable witha proc everyone says Rogue uses this he is dead???"

Maybe you didn't notice the proc is a DoT. This basically means that your Escape ability is completely useless as the mob will re-agro you with the next tick of a DoT if one is active. I see you're only level 56 so probably dont understand this yet as Escape at the very earliest can be obtained at level 59, but this is one of the best AA abilities rogues get.

For a rogues in guilds capable of killing Bertoxx there are tons of comparable offhanders that dont proc dots. Its fair to say that any rogue who spends DKP, rolls, or requests this item is making a dumb choice.

Read what else he said, killer. By the time you get this, or have a chance to, your guild will be outfitted with a MT that can hold aggro from a silly little DoT. No Dot like this will pull aggro from your MT, and if it does, it's not the rogues fault anyway. Get a better MT.

Im not a rogue but i do constantly see rogues in group / raid situations. What Killer was most likely trying to say is you wont always be next to your handy dandy guilds MT. Rogues do exp some too and if they never needed to escape then why spend the aa's in it. but the truth is rogues do need it because they have high agro and if they score good consecutive backstabs or have an outburst in procs they can pull agro very easily in any situation. as far as guild relations go think about it this way. The better of agro weapons your Tanks have access too the better of dps weapons your other classes have access to meaning easier to slip up and grab agro. Skilled Rogues and all classes know how to play their classes right and knowing what will help and what will potentionally harm you is a part of being a skilled player. This weapon has a good chance of messing up a rogues rythem and although it would be a very nice weapon for a rogue if said rogue never had to escape ever, truth is that wont happen. so why waste hard earned dkp points or send tell or roll on a very situational item that would do much better justice in the hands of a ranger or beast or whatnot when u can save dkp / have better chances at a much more rogue beneficial item. Being smart and letting your whole guild get better in any possible way helps you just as much as them.

I'd give this to a warrior. Mass hps, decent ratio, and decent agro proc. If yer monks dont have better, then you know not how to farm Jiva. Since Bertox is the hardest part of solro tower entry, I'd say that you might as well give this to war and save yer monk tells for rune etched bamboo bo.

A monk has two roles, DPS and pull duty. Each role requires a different equip configuration. When I am pulling, I equip two, one-hand weapons, as the cumulative raw HPs are better than most 2hb weapons, including REBB off of Jiva. When I am on DPS, its a 2hb all the way.

Monk needs as many hps as possible when pulling in the upper PoP planes. With The Rotting Fist and Battle Fist, I get 215 raw hps. If I equip the REBB, I get 140 hps. If you think an extra 75 hps does not help, you are mistaken.

On raids sta means nothing as most will hit the sta cap.

Btw Scrouge= low agro its like a 24shaman dot so if any warrior wanted this for agro they would have to hope the ratio is good enough

hmmm scourge, known as shm/bst diease dot line, are designed LOW AGGRO.

If a rogue ever get aggro from this will be the good ratio on the weapon, not the proc.

The image shows a weight of 1.5. It's still light, but not weightless.

Allakhazam always starts with a default weight of 0 until they get all the data entered. Because of that, a lot of monks have gotten very excited, until the actual weight is entered.
RE: No weight

Why in the world would a monk on pull duty not want this weapon, along with another nice 1h stat weapon?

A monk has two roles, DPS and pull duty. Each role requires a different equip configuration. When I am pulling, I equip two, one-hand weapons, as the cumulative raw HPs are better than most 2hb weapons, including REBB off of Jiva. When I am on DPS, its a 2hb all the way.

Dot==suk for pulling.

As a ranger with both epics when I pulled or MA'd, I have to bag the EC because dots get chanters killed, which wipes raid.
RE: No weight
# Aug 11 2003 at 12:36 AM Rating: Decent
I'm pretty sure that he didn't mean you go up and whack the mob with this weapon to pull (and thus risking a dot proc making the mob unmezable as you said). He meant that this weapon is good for a monk to equip for pulling because of the high about of hps for a 1 handed weapon. The monk would equip this and another 1 hander with high hps and go pull (usually using a RANGED WEAPON as to avoid dot procs and getting your *** handed to you before you turn around) and run like hell back to his group where he would equip a 2hdr for higher dps and less agro... bah why should I have to explain this to a ranger with both of his epics, nevermind i think i just answered myself, you're a ranger... why should you understand using a ranged weapon for pulling or how to avoid agro...

If this comes from Bertox himself then its pretty crappy considering the diffculty of the encounter,

Easier Luclin Bosses drop better/comparable weapons.

A dot proc is not good, and scourge is a weak long duration dot on top of it.
#KalRox, Posted: Dec 07 2002 at 8:47 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) mmmm if you think this is crappy, i wonder what you are looking for then ?16 dam 20 delay ,and 1 disease damage for fun,115 hps, resists, dot proc to help taunt ??equipable for dual wielders ?
RE: /sigh
# Dec 03 2002 at 11:37 AM Rating: Default
Scourge is a DD+DoT which is an excellent agro-booster for MTs.

On the other hand, BST, DRU and RNG would probably want this for the WIS (which would be wasted on the MT WAR).

I find the lack of PAL option on this weapon to be unfortunate, as they would be best suited to take advantage of it.

Also, keep in mind Bertox is the culmination of a ring-type event. This may drop from one of the earlier mobs (kings) in the sequence.
RE: /sigh
# Dec 03 2002 at 4:14 PM Rating: Default
This would not be good at all for a Paladin or Shadowknight. No monk or any class that CAN use this wouldnt let a pal or sk touch this even if they were on the list. Not a good ratio for a pal or sk high end 1 hander.

Scourge is actually a low level Necro spell that Shammies get later in life. There are effects on items that contain spells on them that the originating classes can not use. Nothing new here in that regard.
