Price
# May 18 2004 at 12:04 PM Rating: Decent
The average price is way off, at least on the rathe. I bought one of these for 5k less than lowest price and now I have it on vendor for same damn price that I bought it.

The amount the price swings for this item (on the rathe) is pretty bad. If you are looking to resell this item I would avoid it. Try to get it for under 10k if anything.

I have seen it go from 17-19K to 13-15K in less than a week. I expect it to drop even lower and for me to end up selling this at break even or a loss.

The exhausted topic of tradeskills...

As far as the tradeskilling goes and your skill vs. stats: my 65 enchanter is a GM in JC (with tradeskill trophy)- all other tradeskills run 160-185 (she's wearing the 8th shawl). When doing tradeskills she ALWAYS has max int (280). I have noticed a huge difference in both the success rate AND the rate in which she gets skillups by whether or not she is buffed. With dex buffed, she rarely if ever fails tailoring combines 20-30 trivial points ahead of her skill. With strength buffed, she can easily succeed any fine steel smithing combine, breastplate included, with a skill of 162. And as far as jewelcraft, with 200+ AGILITY, she has never once failed a Planar jewelcraft combine, out of 15-20 attempts. She failed on one cazic thule jewelry combine buffed. Unbuffed, she runs at about a 25-30% failure rate on Velium jewelry. Think of this what you will, I have no patch messages or websites to quote for this info, just my own in-game experience. Try it for yourself before flaming :)

JCM Effect

Just a side note. I have done some experiment with using JCM AA points in combining this ring as well other PoP JC combines. I highly recommend Enchanters to get the JCM 1 if you want to combine this.

Not a big sample size but I tried this with my Cleric, 250 JC GM with the Trophy, and was 0 for 2. However, using my Enchanter, 250 JC GM with the Trophy, I was 3 for 3. So that extra AA points really help.

I make many of these rings each week (usually 2 -3 per day). With JCM2 and max int and dex, I would fail roughly 35 - 40% (rough estimate) of combines. With JCM3, the fail rate is probably closer to 2 - 5%. I have a friend with 250 JC (w/trophy) and has only succeeded 8 out of 30 attempts (with no JCM aa's). For a while after getting JCM3, I felt invincible...did close to 50 planar jewelry combines without a fail. Finally, after about three weeks after getting JCM3, I failed my first planar combine. Hope this helps put usefulness of the enchanter jewelcraft mastery aa ability into perspective.

At this point I'm not sure what was a better investment of aa's, getting JCM3 or Eldritch Rune 3. I highly recommend both.

Soloing as a Druid
# Aug 03 2003 at 7:44 PM Rating: Default
62 Druid here and I can solo the tunnels pretty easily. Here's how I do it.

1) Invis past ghost, open door, enter tunnel and stay near entrance. Click off invis and med to full. Heres my spell lineup...

1) Ensnare
2) Engorging Roots
3) Chloroblast
4) Tunare's Renewal
5) Call of Karana
6) Glamour of Tunare
7) Savage Spirit
8) Harmony of Nature / Spirit of Eagle

Step 2) Harmony the 2 entrance gralloks...
Step 3) Run past and the tunnel should split to the left and right I believe. A grallok will be on the left and a wurm on the right...
Step 4) Cast Call of Karana on the wurm and kill the grallok on the left
Step 5) Harmony and pull 1 grallok at the entrance and kill it.
Step 6) Kill the other entrance grallok and proceed to the entrance, leaving your pet guarding at the split.
Step 7) Target your pet and Hide or invis to break charm.
Step 8) Root the wurm. Snare him. Glamour of Tunare him and recharm. You now have a better chance of living if charm breaks.
Step 9) Proceed to kill the rest of the tunnels, harmony pulling when you need to.

Hope this helps - And good luck to all

Um guys, your int, dex, wis, whatever is MEANINGLESS when making a combine (except for skillups). The ONLY thing that determines success or failure on a combine is your JC skill (and JC AA's if you have them).

Oh yeah, and +tradeskill items don't stack.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 07 2003 at 12:03 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) why even post this, let em get the buffs, hell i got more buffs for smithing than i do on raids damn near, and it DOES make a difference, just ask my banker
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 23 2003 at 2:10 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Uh, actually "Bilboh", +tradeskill items DO stack. Wisdom increases your chance in correctly creating an item. Please don't post crap on here when you don't in fact know, go play SWG or something.

Also should add that some tradeskills have a secondary skill, such as strength for smithing, and dex for JC that may be used instead of wis/int for skillups. Howver, in this case, it is just the HIGHEST one of the three used.

Actually, the only certain alternative stats are strength for smithing and dexterity for fletching. The JC does not use dexterity, only higher of wis/int. The only other exception is poison making, which also takes in dexterity other than wis/int.

Relying on EQTraders info for the dex and JC thing. Click the link to the EQTraders board, for the post by Niami, the admin of EQtraders.

That site is my primary tradeskill source, and I tend to trust what they say. Perhaps they are wrong on this one, or I missed a newer post, but that was the latest info I have on the issue.

Of course, my tradeskill char is a cleric, so I never had to worry about alternative stats :)

Bilboh is correct, and you my flaming friend, are dead wrong.

ONLY one tradeskill modifying device can be used. THEY DO NOT STACK. The only exception seems to be fishing modifiers, but then fishing isn't a "true" tradeskill.

Wis/Int and any other stat, HAS NO EFFECT on success rate, just skillup. The highest of Wis/Int is used to determine chance of skillup.

The only thing that affects success rate is your modified skill level (raw plus 1 skill modifier, such as geerlok OR trophy), and for JC the AA ability.

Please see the eqtraders.com site for detailed discussion of these issues.

You might want to me a little more certain of your facts, before you flame someone.

Xaanru is correct. The modifying stats do not stack. Matter of fact, fishing stats do not stack either, it just takes the highest of the modifier, for example using 3% bait and 5% pole, only 5% applies.

The stats do not have any effect on success rate, only skill level does. If stats do have effect on success rate, that means I can create a level 1 character, get him/her to wisdom of 255 (max for characters below level 51 and many AAs) and I should be able to make high end product with high success, such as cultural armor. That is not the case.

Info:

glittering ring: prisoners first floor of plane of justice. Reccommend being 58+ so the guards and rats dont assist the prisoners. If you have your 61 or 62 pet use it, they are lvl 58 and the guards wont assist and agro your pet. Drop rate is about one per 25 prisoners on average.

white diamond of justice: give an alkaline etched stone and a raw diamond to a shaman with imbue justice spell, 1k mana later he'll hand you a white diamond of justice.

crystallized cloudy eye: drops only off scarabs, beetles, and locusts in the tunnel behind Priest of Tumagal on the 3rd floor (same floor punishers / enforcers are on) Click wall behind the dwarf priest ghost and it will open passage.
Drop rate is about one in twenty off scarabs / demented locusts... bout one in fifteen off dread scarabs and enervating beetles if you go deeper in tunnel.

alkaline etched stone: only list this because you need it to make the diamonds. drops off mindless tunnelers, shadow ravegers, eyeless gnawers, and rampaging burrowers. Its possible they can drop off the named mobs in the area but the named are too rare to concern yourself with. These worm type mobs are in the same general area as the beetles and locusts. Drop rate is pretty decent on the entrance worms, and plentiful... Reccommend camping the entrance area with a group till you get enough stones and raw diamonds.

Raw diamond: used as a component for white diamond of justice... you can get these off the grolloks in the same tunnel behind priest, but punishers and enforcers are a lot easier to kill. Drop rate on raw diamonds is pretty high on the grolloks tho, thats where i get mine.

Combine: White Diamond of Justice, Crystallized Cloudy Eye, Crystallized Cloudy Eye, Glittering ring -- in Planar Jeweler's Kit. (yes thats 2 cloudy eyes, you'll get dnc message with just one)

Not trivial at 250 jewelcraft, however while combining with 280 wisdom and 250 dex I have made 6 out of 8 so far. I would recommend getting a focus, avatar, and kei before combine. Or if you are a shaman like myself just use your voice of the berserker spell or rabid bear... or both.

Good luck with your rings friends. I'd estimate it taking you at least 3 days to get 2 rings if yer lvl 65. If you are below and need a group, it will probably take you a week.

Take for instance alot of the new CT drops. alot say recommended lv (take the stone bladed axe of dismay or whatever it's called) my warrior is lv 42 and still can't equip despite RECOMMENDED lv of 51. It's that way with most the CT recommended lv stuff.

The stuff from CT was mislabeled. According to SOE they were never meant to have "recommended level" tags, but rather "required level" tags. The database had the correct info, which is why you could not equip the CT items at 46. This ring is correctly labeled an can be equiped at any level 46+. When I equip it (level 54) I get 18 of the 20 WIS listed on the ring.

Ahhh this is the first required lvl item ive seen so far and boy am i relieved. All those recomended lvl items that actually required the lvl were pissing me off. I hope Sony goes back and corrects their mistakes on the other items that need to be changed and hopefully soon. I also hope to see more items like this come out. By the way uh nice item.
Sorry, but...
# Dec 02 2002 at 7:23 PM Rating: Default
You are a little confused. There are tons of level requirement items. Do you even know how reccomended level items work? Say a level 30 puts this ring on. It would be 5ac, 10wis, 25hp. Admittingly still a nice ring (hence why they chose to give this ring a level req), but most items like weapons, work great with the reccomended level, because the stats scale up to the full stats.

No items with reccomended levels need to be changed, people just need to understand how it works.

I think you are confused

No. There are very few level required items.

He is talking about how it REQUIRES level
46 to wear. A level 30 would NOT be putting on this ring since it is REQUIRED level 46. It is
RECCOMENDED level 60, but a 46 plus could wear it for reduced stats.

Tons of items DON'T list a required level.

not all recommended level items are like this (i.e.) losing some stats but still equipable. An example is the fleshgrinder with a recommended level of 51 when my ranger lost level 51 he could no longer equip the axe until he regained level 51. beware not all recommended level items follow the same set of rules. CT zone items are different...
# Dec 03 2002 at 11:31 AM Rating: Default
Gang,

One zone to pay particular attention to is CT. Drops there might list items as "recommended lvl 51" but what it really means is you cannot equip the item until 51. I have a Bellows Crafted Cap that is not from CT, and has a recommend lvl 50 on the item description. I can equip that item, and at lvl 48 I only get 1 less hp and 1 less mana out of it.

I wish Verant/Sony would have been more clear on these items, and not used 3 different ways of describing their limitations. All I can say is, I am glad they are at least not No Drop...hehehe...
RE: CT zone items are different...
# Jan 02 2003 at 3:30 PM Rating: Decent
go back and look at those items that said reccomended and meant required, alot of them have been changed, such as the ice forged helmet from the 8th shawl war, was reccomended 51, and in a recent patch was changed to required
