Come on people... this Sheild is REALLY REALLY COMMON!!!! I have killed Xuzi about 8 times and it has droped every time ... So who cares who gets it first .. GET FLAGED AND KILL HIM it only takes 1 group jeez
The effect is detrimental spells only and any guild leader who is going to offer this to a cleric just so he can nuke faster than their Shaman can slow should just /guilddelete right away and save the embarassment to humanity.
No heals of any sort can be sped up by this...so it probably wouldn't go to a Cleric, at least not right away.
Don't get me wrong. I know Clerics have many spells other than complete heal. But this isn't going to drop in an exp group; it's going to drop on a raid. Any guild that gets this far in is going to have either a point system, an award system, or a restricted/best use/rational lotto system.
Under any of those systems, it's far more likely that this shield will go to a class that casts more detrimental spells than beneficial spells. Meaning, druids or shamans. It's a lot better for the raid to have slow hit 15% faster than it is for a cleric to be able to nuke 15% faster.
My druid jsut got this shield tongiht first spell haste item I have gotten and it DOES speed up my quick heal (nature's infusion) It does also speed up pot9 and FoE so this is NOT only dematreial.
*EDIT*- sorry my bad was a cleric haste spell on me my mistake : /

CH is not our only spell, jesus. We also have nukes, just like shamens and druids, we have ds, we even have dots for undead, and WE USE OTHER HEALS THAN CH TOO. I nuke on raids all the time, it is rare that a boss mob takes all the mana I have to ch chain, and I usually have time to toss one or two in, ESPECIALLY with casting haste....pffft, dumb mage.

not to flame, but this is looking more like a druid or shaman shield than a cleric. sure the ac is nice, but the effect really defines it. i dont think clerics have any spells that would not be covered by this effect, and speeding up druid and shaman nuking or healing capabilities would really benefit the guild/raid.
1: Increase Spell Haste by 15% 2: Limit: Max Level(65) 3: Limit: Spell(Complete Healing excluded) 4: Limit: Min Casting Time(3.0 sec) 5: Limit: Spell Type(Detrimental only)

Posted:Feb 14 2003 at 10:05 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) someone needs to make a cleric to learn about all the OTHER spells clerics get. Think buffing, group healing, single target healing (Superior Healing, Divine Light, Remedy etc) and the cleric DD lines. clerics arent only healers, we cant do damage as fast as a wizard or for as long as a warrior, but we can still do some decent damage if it comes to that.
Ok all those buffs and other heals your talking about this shield WON'T HELP!! read it and then say something
1: Increase Spell Haste by 15% 2: Limit: Max Level(65) 3: Limit: Spell(Complete Healing excluded) 4: Limit: Min Casting Time(3.0 sec) 5: Limit: Spell Type(Detrimental only)
See that? Detrimental only!!! Detrimental only!!! the spell haste WON'T work with buffs. And most of the clerics I know that are or will be able to get this dont care about DD's and crap cause guess what? THEY DONT NUKE! ok ty drive through
I guess people think clerics spend 100% of their time raiding. Well, they don't. In an xp group I nuke once or twice on every single mob that's pulled. This shield makes a nice compliment to the ornate or EP gaunts which give a huge (25% on ornate, I think EP is 30%) reduction in mana useage on one spell -- condemnation (cleric nuke).
Shaman and druids have a lot of other options on secondary slots too, including improved damage items, extended affliction items, and haste. This isn't the only effect that's good for them. Besides, there's a lot of other spell haste items in the game that are more than 15%.
Sure, a shaman and druid could put this to good use, but so could a cleric. Incidently, this went to a cleric in my guild about 15 minutes ago (grats him!). The shaman/druids in attendance either didn't try to claim it, or they had fewer raid points. That's how it works kids.
Josiefuz 65 Cleric +140, Sol Ro Way more xp as a cleric than j00!
Aye, I won't dispute the fact that clerics can use this item (and in some cases use it well.) I think the point the original poster intended to make (or that I will try to make now) was that though clerics can use this item, it would be MORE useful on a druid (dotting/snaring/nuking/etc) or on a shaman (debuffs/dots/nukes/etc) than on a cleric. As hameed said of course, by the time most guilds are in Sol Ro they'll be on DKP anyway so it's a bit of a moot point (I know this isn't every guild but it applies to a lot of them.)
For those guilds that aren't on DKP, this item still won't go to a Cleric initially because no one would award it to them over a Druid/Shammy, for all the reasons already mentioned.
I am a battle Cleric, and while I don't nuke a lot I do get in and attack on almost every mob. The stats on the shield are MUCH better than what I am using now. The effect may not get used as much as a dru/shm but the stats would be used at all times.
nobody's posted any dumb noob jaw-drop comments, so I'm going to just 'cause.
OMG! That shield is.../drool. I would give my left arm, right toe, one of my kidneys, and all my droppable gear for that shield. If this dropped, I would hope they would give it to druids cause clerics can't speed up their complete heals and shamans have more choices. I just hope I can win the roll.
Getting malo/malosini/cripple/slow -- any of those -- in quickly is reason enough to put shaman at the top of the list for anything that speeds detrimental spells.
Further development--got this shield today! Malos went from 5.0 to 4.3, and slow from 3.0 to 2.5. Cuts the malos/slow cycle down by 1.2 seconds -- very significant when slowing! An unslowed mob can do a lot of damage in that time.
This focus is so extremely useful for a chanter/shaman that I really don't see it going to anyone else, and chanter is not on this shield, so it seems clearly a shaman shield to me. Clerics don't need haste on detrimental spells and neither do druids -- it would be a trifle to them. But malos/slow is often critical, and getting it on fast is usually at the very least a very big help. It's the kind of focus that can make a very notable change in a character's power and usefulness, so the item is definitely worth NOT treating in a trifling way just because it has hitpoints on it and everyone loves hitpoints.
Just nit-picking a bit.. Druids have plenty of need for detrimental spell haste. Secondary to Shaman among priests? Absolutely. But they still need it.
