i use a stonewood and i do 250 to 300 regully with am2. your damage value seems low to me guys with haste and eagle eye i gen diont miss either.
And with TS i crit between 800 to 1000 and gen damg between 500 to 700. Eagle eye thats a must 4 a ranger
casting time?
# Oct 06 2004 at 2:16 AM Rating: Decent
Anyone know the casting time for this clicky?

I'm wondering if it'd be affective for root / dot soloing.

*edit: Got a link to it today, casting time is 3.0

well, the roots i use now last longer, but since this is free it could effectively last... forever :)

Do you have to be 63 to use the "Earthen Roots" clicky?

No, the ornate armor is wearable and clickable at 55 regardless of the effect 8)

I wish the Paladin items had the STA that these fun Ranger ones do. Our legs equal yours, but your Vambraces have more. Ah well, not more complaining, guess they figure STA should be near max for a Pali from other slots by then(I'm still 90 under max on my Pali at level 60)
Chain?

Good upgrade

Well i scored these lastnight with a 712 roll, my group took out Oteen Wavewhateva with relative ease, he dropped spec/chain pattern and ring of thordan. Got rings in bazaar got hammer in PoK, give 500 pp to the dwarf in PoT(BUT remember to have a free slot open because he gives you the mystic forge of ro which is a container that doesnt fit in other containers) and a class symbol.. put 3 metal rings in there with patern hammer and symbol and out pops your bad *** new pants. OOO yea btw they are really really nice because they rightclick your lvl 63 root that holds on things better and resists less i find and the cast time is 3 yes.. THREE seconds which is the same as the spell cast almost and manaless to boot. which makes these Very useful to have around.

Earthern roots when cast from 65 ranger spell gem is 1.8 second cast time, due to inate haste.
Hmm.

Hm, pretty nice legs, Im just a little bit irked that the stamina is only + 7 and Hp only + 75, personally I would "give up" 5-6 ac on these for 3 extra Sta and 25 more raw Hps.

Another stat these could use is some Strenght.

On a separate note, figure the 12 dexterity on these means that Verrant is slowly accepting archery as a viable means of doing damage?

I know Alan was pretty "unhappy" with how Rangers at level 60, with 45AA invested points were able to OMG "match" rogues and monks who did zero AA work what so ever.

I agree Ulvian these are good legs, wouldn't mind seeing the rest of the set though. And so everyone is clear about this this is a very pain in the **** quest only due to finding the items needed for the armor, the plains are still new to most of us and it will be a while be4 everything is found including where alot of the patterns drop but for all who complete this Grats on a great set of legs. for those that still think there tanks get over it, Rangers are what they are, Ranger's the legondary masters of the Bow as far as your LoS issues deal with it, find a way around it, make it happen, for crist sake stop freakin whinning about it and find a way to hit it, and btw Scholar you ever seen a monk FD a dragon? i have and i also seen him in Nexus offering 500pp for the assistance of a Nec/SK and a rezzer, so while FD is a great skill it aint the best. And as far as spells hell every spell is a good spell they all have there uses, if there is any over greatest spell ever it is C3 or KEI as that is what keep the fight going, no mana=no heals=raids over and yes i have seen and canceled raids for no cleric and on a different raid no mana battery, i dont take chances i make shytz happen, and there are fewer line of sight problems then your think, most problems i have ran into were target is too close for ranged weapons issues ;0

#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 28 2002 at 10:02 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) all i gotta say i u guyz are frekin nutz. archery is a godly way to do damage. ima 62 ranger with endless quiver and my dps is around 255 with bow(500 with disc) and im using a 34/38 bow. i mean think about, archery mastery, !!+100%!! to archery. omg. theres not really a good reason why a ranger with am3 and endless quiver should melee, his bow dps will always be higher unless hes still using the old school spectrial bows=X ranger melee dps is anywhere from 70-125, ive clocked it over and over and bow always wins EVEN without am3 or disc. i have better then epic weps too so...

You're off base by quite a bit on your DPS. At level 65 with Warmaster bow from TZ (33/30) I do 150-170 DPS on PoP mobs non-disc. My guess is you're using a parser that counts archery damage twice with the "hit" and "non-melee" messages and thus ending up with 2x of your actual DPS.

Actually with eq/am2 I do about 100-120 DPS. I use eq companion, divide the actual DPS by 2 (because it counts hits and non-melee both). After that I still do over 100 dps every time. Add 40 percent more dmg and I'm sure it'll be over 150. I do about 350-400 on TS disc with just am2. I use a twisted longbow.
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 10 2002 at 7:44 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Your DPS is not 255, nor is it 500with disc.
RE: Hmm.
# Nov 27 2002 at 5:51 AM Rating: Decent

I suppose that by 'match rogue and monks with 0 AA' you meant doing 170% of their damage without disc, 300% with it.

And yes, archery is quite situational because of LoS issues, I know.

Still, on at least 90% of the mobs of this game, a ranger with 45 AA does at least 150% of the damage I do with 70, can buff, track ( best skill in this game ever), and snare ( best spell in this game ever).

Sry but ranger are far behind monk on the DPS.

Monk are one betther DMG table, Benefite more form their DPS Disc, And Flying Kick + our Claw DD easely match up the ranger Spell casting DMG. Run parser and you will never see an equal gear quality and AA ranger out dps a monk. exept maybe if the monk is AFK.

Best skill in the game is Feign Death.
Best spell in the game is Complete Heal.

Imagine your next raid without these 2.
Then imagine the raid without tracking and snare and tell me that you still think they're more important then FD and CH. I've never seen a raid called off because of a lack of rangers.

The 10% of mobs that rangers can't outdamage monks/rogues on also happen to be raid mobs. Although rangers can use archery on them rarely the majority of the time the skill is worthless when attacking targets that your guild cares about.

The bottom line is that VI threw rangers a bone by finally making archery a worthwile skill. Congrats VI, time to move on and fix more of the problems in the game.

While currently I only have AM1, using a 30/36 bow w/11+3dmg arrows I can barely exceed 100dps--on a clear mob engaged on someone else, not in a corner, no more than a tiny bit above or below me, not surrounded by melees--and only during trueshot. (ie 2 minutes per hour) Perhaps when I get AM3 I can manage to match rogue and monk dps (again in those limited situations where I can successfully land arrows) and even exceed them during trueshot. Over a sustained fight, a rogue is still gonna outdamage me, and as far as matching up monk abilities vs ranger ones--I love tracking and spells, but I gotta say that Mend and FD are pretty dang kewl too...

Might I suggest you parse some damage? I have NEVER beaten a rogue's DPS with archery, never. It's not Only LOS issues, disappearing arrows, LoS, lack of autoattack. My Melee is about equal to my archery DPS, except with melee, i dont have to worry about LOS, and disappearing arrows

Lol, i thouhgt i was the only one with the dissapearing arrows! Nevertheless... why is this even the subject?... This should be about a pair of pants that have triggered root on em.

The issue their talking about is the Dex 12 factor on the pants it improved damage...

My experience is that the pieces compliment each other in one way or another. Compared to the chest piece, these are not really as big a jump from Velious armors. Maybe once we see the entire set, we'll have a clearer picture of the overall stat boost over others though. /shrug

I have concluded that VI will never be happy, even though it is us, the player, whom they should be concerned about.
