I think necros get screwed on the click effects on there ornate armor. Actually I think the classes that benefit the most would have to be the manaless ones. I love my warriors BP, but this is just junk by todays standards. If it was a cliky that necros didn't get it would be alot better.

Abro robe
# May 31 2004 at 3:32 PM Rating: Decent
Im 65 still wearin my Twink Abro Robe and I see no point whatsoever in getting this, I mean come on this is a tower named drop look at the plate bp and such that sells for around the same price as this on Lanys and sucks the big one compared to a warrior getting the ornate plate bp mold
Rotting robe as good.
# Aug 31 2003 at 5:59 PM Rating: Decent
I have Rotting Robe with summon corpse. This robe needs the same int and sta as Rotting robe and 10 or more to all resists IMO. I hate to lose the 5svp (the lowest of my resists) just to gain 7hp at 65 (where I am now). Not needing to mem Maelin is handy though, but when I get this to drop I will likely sell the pattern while the price is still high and I can fatten my bank account.
Thurgy robe beats it

Since we get "Shield of Maelin" at 64 I'm not to worried about getting my Ornate Robe. I think we got ripped off on this one

RE: Thurgy robe beats it

Fail to see how that's true. The 4 extra STA on the Thurg robe still comes up just shy of the 15 extra hp on the Ornate, and the 45 extra mana on Ornate definitely outdoes the 3 extra INT on Thurg. Plus more ac and better resists on Ornate.

Still, statwise it's pretty close to a push; most Necros try to get a Velious robe for the manafree Conjure Corpse anyway.
whatever

Blah, blah, blah, dex has been broken since beta.

I dont see why anyone would never use their self only spell. I do all the time and just got my ornate robe yesterday. SoM does trigger at 59 so of course I use it all the time. Before I wouldn't see it drop due to I 2 box but with this I dont have to load nor worry about fizz rate since for whatever reason it normally takes me 2 attempts to get the spell off despite my abj being maxed. this gives me a few hundred extra hps as well as +40 mag resist to bring my resist over 200. I fail to see how it is useless. Also, you do not need to mem it so therefore you can cast amidst fighting. great robe imo.

You cant just do that blackreaver...All the effect does is save you mana from casting it. I never hear of any caster not using their self-only shielding so just adding the spells effects to the robe isnt accurate. It is accurate of giving it a FT of (shield of maelin mana cost) / (duration in ticks that maelin lasts) but thats only in certain cases (when you dont get focus).

Little wrong on the ac there. The spell grants 38-39 calculated AC, not raw AC. I'm not sure how much calcutlated AC a caster gets for 1 raw ac, but it's probably on the order of, 10? 5? AC to make 30 or so calculated? If so then the robe is only around the AC of a midlevel plate BP like barbed ringmail or treeweave. Still really good, but there are robes with close to 60ac if memory serves me right. But I don't see how any one can say this robe sucks. It looks around even to the high end robes that go for 30k+. And with KEI (for enchanters) and other high level spells being just as expensive, it might be a break to quest this awesome robe than having to farm plat and then buying a similar robe.

And if I'm wrong, may god/a flamer smite me down with all of his/her might.

This Robe has a Very Deep Black Color to it. I don't have it but, a friend does.. Makes the Black Horse you buy in Bazaar look almost Grey in comparison

#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 04 2002 at 3:16 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This robe is barely better than the thurgadin quest robe, Warlock's , which has 14int and 15sta as opposed to this one, this also has no effect, it just has slightly better saves and 40mor mana... not a piece of junk, but not what i was looking forward too because my nec has the warlocks robe =/
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 29 2002 at 1:52 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) WoW!! amazing! I think I'd rather keep wearing my green silk drape than this piece o' crap. lemme see... dex? not needed, str+5? ooh goodie... I can carry one more looted weapon for my pet. Sta +11 wow! an extra 20 HP from that bonus!

I'm willing to bet that what we have here is a someone trolling for an argument. Any caster who would think that dex is useless is just... so stupid I can't even begin to describe... It's a crime for someone to be this uneducated about how the system works.

Just in case he's serious, I will enlighten.

Dex is the one and only saving throw other than the actual skill iteself for channeling. If a mob is beating on you, if you have decent dex, you will get the spell off. If you don't, you won't. It's that simple. And str is nice to have a little of on any item. Lets you carry more loot.

If you think 20 hp is all you're going to get from 11 STA, you are sorely mistaken. I just paid 11k for a 15 STA bracer because when I get done with my planar AA upgrades, that bracer is gonna be worth over 100 hp to me at lvl 65. Even without AA abilities, STA is worth 2.6 hp per point at lvl 50+. So it's actually more like 29 hp you would get. With innate regen, that's two more ticks of lich which might allow you to get off that critical FD or harmshield.

Conculsion: You need to get your information straight before posting here. This is among the 10 best robes in the game, and you obviously have no idea what you're talking about.

DEX absolutely IS a saving throw in channeling, which was verified by the transcript of a Fan Faire over a year ago...

I am not confusing DEX with AGI... AGI is a saving throw in damage avoidance, as well as being used to calculate AC. DEX is not.
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 26 2002 at 11:30 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Um hello. Dex is not a saving throw for channeling. Channeling is! Thats why you get skill ups in channeling when your getting beat on and try to cast.
