Im a 65 Bard on Rodcet Nife.. my guild just took this Sol Ro, ( Dawning Nemesis ). And all the rogues had things that were a lot better than this. So I bought it with dkp. Even for a bard this thing pierces for 80+, which is awesome for a bard. So, most of the time bard will have things that are better.... we had like 9 rogues and none wanted them... 2 of these dropped and a Ranger got the other one.

For all you complaining about this being considered rogue only:

Rogues only get good or better piercers, like the GRMN, from raid events (almost exclusively). Rogues, by and large, should only be using a piercer. Those two factors severely limit what weapons that are worthwhile for a rogue to obtain, the GRMN being one of them. So, if a weapon like this drops rogues get first dibs, period.

im sick of all the ppl saying that certain weapons should only go to one class, i myself have a 65 war, rog, rng. and it seems to me that warriors get jacked on almost EVERYTHING, if its not totaly a class specific weapon, aka ( a dagger thats like 20/20 rog, war, rng usable - which should always go to the rog, or a weapon with a taunting blow proc - should go to a warrior ) then it should be for all the classes that it would benefit. rogues do get jacked on alot too tho, my ranger has the least play time and easy'ly has the best stuff. - just what i think -

with don u can BUY better wepons aka a 16 18 with rujukan poision effect, u can buy 2 of these granted u need both good faction then bad faction to get,.
RE: should be this way !
# Mar 11 2006 at 11:25 PM Rating: Decent
You don't need to have the appropriate faction to buy from the DoN merchants. I have bought from both and am ally to Keepers. It's just a matter of invising past the guards to get to the opposing faction merchant.
RE: should be this way !
# Jun 08 2004 at 10:21 AM Rating: Decent
that is to an extent true, but also take into consideration that rogues are completely limited to piercing weapons in primary. to put it simply, if you're biddind on a 1hs as a warrior, they are only bidding for an offhand, and are guarunteed not to push the bid too far in most cases
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 11 2004 at 8:47 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) lol, you gonna use a 16 dmg weapon in your primary BS hand? there are way better primary rogue weapons out there, this one is definately open field weapon.
RE: should be this way !
# Jun 15 2004 at 9:39 PM Rating: Decent
I would say the vast majority of EQ players use something with a 16 dmg or lower. Until you can kill Fennin Ro you aren't really gonna see much better than this.
RE: should be this way !
# Dec 10 2004 at 2:51 PM Rating: Decent
If a rogues argument for getting this is the mod I put forth two other rogue daggers that are much more common and accessible then Solusek Ro. The Wicked Shank from one ofthe Bastion of Thunder towers and Mithaniel Marr drops a great rogue only piercer with a snare proc on it.
RE: should be this way !
# Dec 29 2004 at 3:21 PM Rating: Decent
No...a rogue's argument is the snare dagger and the wicked shank are almost guaranteed to kill the rogue if they proc. The dot on the shank and snare are 2 of the worst aggro producing effects on rogue daggers, and aggro on a rogue=dead rogue. The MM dagger has limitied usage (when no snarer in group) and the shank is ONLY used if no alternative dagger is available. The Ldon dagger is actually better than both...
RE: should be this way !
# Dec 31 2004 at 9:40 PM Rating: Decent
Ahh didn't think about that. When a Bard snares or dots a mob it doesn't realy generate much agro. I guess I'd say if I was a rogue in a guild that is making progress thru elementals that this is a good dagger but Ifir, dagger of fire from Fenin Ro is a much better weapon to save your loot rights for, and considering the fact that if you see this drop you have just gotten fire flagged coupled with the fact that Fenin Ro is a pretty easy fight.

Nobody seems to notice, but 16/19 with +1 fire dmg (if the mob doesn't resist) = 17dmg backstabber, making this the first one in the game (second being Ifir, Dagger of Fire... Trident of Slaughter doesn't really count for general purpose meleeing :P)... yes, elemental damage is factored into BASE damage, not added on at the end like the Damage Bonuses certain classes get.

At this rate, they'll be introducing a straight 18-damage rogue piercer off the boss of Plane of Time... anybody want to figure out max damage for that? ;)

#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 18 2003 at 12:07 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) .... +1 fire/magic/cold/ect.= +1dmg to all your atks after its done not +1 dmg to your weapon theres a BIG diffrence. Now Bane dmg= +1 to weapon dmg like the Trident is 17/19 but only 2 certian mobs, same with thelin's dagger

the fire/cold/magic/poison/disease/etc is added to the base damage so the Sol Ro poker acts as either a 16 or 17 damage weapon depending if the bane is resisted or not. In Plane of Earth and Water, the fire bane (and proc) holds much better due to the fire resist. In Sol Ro's Tower and Plane of Fire, it's a perma 16 damage weapon and the proc does not land since these have very high fire resist.

Some banes, as you mentioned, are never resisted if you're in combat with that type of mob, such as Emp, Seru bane weapons (needed to hit them), greater akheva, undead, humanoid, etc.

i am sorry, but you're wrong
the tag prim/sec is only for dual wielders.
a paladin cannot equip another 1 hand weap in his offhand .
it's nice of verant to put sk and pal on the list, but lets face it, after the rogues take their pick, it will go to another dual wielder for sure.

Alright, gimme a post, any post, where there is NO debate on the stupid classes that can use. Alright ill rephraise it, on ones that are for many classes but someone wants it only for one class. WHY, it is there so that whichever one of those classes gets it, will be happy with it, not a rogue for a freakish backstab, or a warrior for his tanking abilities.
# Nov 24 2002 at 2:17 AM Rating: Decent
There is no debate. This is a rogue weapon. If it doesn't go to a rogue, it better be because there isn't one in CoTHable range.
RE: Debate
# Oct 07 2003 at 4:47 AM Rating: Default
You can't even CoH to the Fennin spawn point, CoH doesn't work in that whole half of the zone... And if a rogue needed a CoH to get there they don't deserve to even look at the stats for this dagger. This is also a very decent bard item and would serve them well.

This is the first one handed piercer that pally's can wield that i have ever seen. Can pallies now use 1 handed piercers? Or just ones I know I will never see in game. Ya ya ya, I know it's not efficient for pallies to get this if a rogue needs it, but it is nice to dream.

Luggald Trident.

Dmg: 11, Delay 28, Wt. 8.0.

Not uber by any means, but still decent at low-mid levels. And you asked.

Also 6/18 Luggald Dagger.

And the Black Acrylia Stuff, like the spear. 10/22 with Lifedraw. (

There's a few more, not too many though. Mostly high end stuff that a Paladin wouldn't want anyway, since it would be much more useful in the hands of a rogue guildmate. As for low-end stuff, crystal grinders and goblin trailblazers' knives come to mind, among others. Pine Shaft pike I believe?
RE: pally?
# Nov 29 2002 at 4:21 AM Rating: Decent
Theres a magic dagger called 'sea forged dagger' not sure if it drops anymore was from stormhammer, but it was a 4dmg/16del dagger a pally can use, I have one and seeing all the piercers (minus this one, rogue will always get it) I think practicing that skill would be very wise! :)

No, Rangers would not want this weapon most likely, and let me tell you why.

Seeing as warriors become dependant on pure aggro proccing weapons around the higher end of the game (Hategiver, Blade of Carnage) those are the weapons they get.

Bards get weapons which have instrument skills, and innately high damage/delay ratios to compensate for their low offensive skills to some extent.

Paladins and Shadowknights rely on "Class" One hand slash, two hand slash, etc weapons which also have innately high damage/delay ratios.

Rangers who are in a guild capable of taking this mob out, are more than likely either already wielding,or soon to be wielding Acrylia Handled Broadsword + Vhyz`Dra's Render of Souls combo.

And as it stands, the Acrylia Handled is superior to this weapon for a ranger seeing as our piercing only caps at 240 skill or so. Therefore we do less damage with a 16/19 piercer than we would do with a 16/19 one hand slasher.

Its true that this weapon has nice added stats also, but don't forget what you said yourself, Rangers are a damage class, and as such damage/delay and damage capabilities of weapons are our priorities, much moreso than stats a weapon carries.

Im sure all Rangers would agree that if the choice came between AHB (16/19 with stats) and lets say a new weapon, with the stats of 17/18 and 0 stats whatsoever, the AHB would get bagged.

This Dagger belongs in the hands of a rogue, seeing as 16 damage is currently the highest availeable to them, and the 1 fire damage modifier makes this weapon potentially a 17 damage piercer, highest and best out there at current time. Maybe better will become availeable in the same tier as this weapon, but we will have to wait and see.

As it stands, this might as well be re-named to Ragebringer 2.0 (AKA: Rogue weapon)

This drops in Sol-Ro Tower - Not Bastion of Thunder.

To be flagged for SolRo you gotta kill Saryrn, Rydda`Dar and Mithanial Marr (Not easy to do)

Rydda`Dar casts AE Fear and AE DD spell for more than 2k dmg, also he melee like Mike Tyson on PCP chomping away at you for 1700 dmg at lightening speed (triple attacks)

Mithaniel Marr is by no means an easy encounter. The fight requires alot dps just to get to him without repops. He can put a spanking on you with 1500+ dmg swings and his proc.

Why do people whine about loot that drops in a zone that they can't even get in to?

As a ranger myself, I'll just say that yeah, by the time I can get into the plane for this weapon, I will do bazillions more damage with my bow than with weapons, especially whenever I kick in the disc. Mob standing still x AM3 x Trueshot disc = Dead thing (or just a really injured one). Although it's a bit of sarcasm about them being injured or dead, rangers deal a LOT of damage with their bow (I hit the keys real hard typing "lot" hoping it would make a bigger effect...), and past a certain point, melee is useless almost. I have heard numerous accounts of rangers soloing Ice Burrowers for AAXP once they hit 59 and AM3... in 10 minutes. They supposedly have the hp of vox + naggy, but of course can't CH. Rangers can't tank worth squat in high-end raids, but they sure do deal a bunch of damage. Just be sure to make a little path for LOS so they can still hit. And that is why they should not use this weapon.

Being a bard I take a bit of offense to this statement:

"Bards get weapons which have instrument skills, and innately high damage/delay ratios to compensate for their low offensive skills to some extent. "

Have you actually looked at any of the weapons that have instrument skills on them? I haven't seen a single one that isn't rather pathetic. I am hoping one exists out there but as of yet they are nonexistant. The other weapons which do exist which bards tend to use in the higher end have comparable damage and delay ratios to this one.

Don't get me wrong for the most part I agree with what you said, but not for the reasons you said, and as always I am working to clarify the bard class as it is generally misunderstood by the rest of the EQ population.

Those two weapons dont match the ratio of the Gold runed mithril knife.

So yes a bard could use this one. (and mine does)

Better bard weapons exist in the Elemental planes (and that is true also for other classes) but they seem (the bard ones) to be uber rare.
It could take a long long time before even seeing one.

So if a bard has any chance to grab this one and its an upgrade to them they'd better do it.
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 21 2002 at 10:15 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) WOW look at that dmg.... 16+1 fire dmg... insane. Prolly best BS weapon to date, should have been rogue only to avoid worthless debates though.
