Doesn't suck
# Sep 14 2003 at 10:47 PM Rating: Decent
A'ight people. I love how people toss their ego on here by saying decent items suck, as if they're somehow better than them and therefore more important. An 18/20 is nothing to scoff at for a Paladin to be wielding. The only downside is the delay isn't enough to get stuns out in between without losing a lot of damage output. But on unstunabble mobs, etc. Why not say it's a decent weapon? Unstunnable undead mobs, with the dex bonus, nice for procs(and Holyforge decipline)

Actually with Instrument of Nife, stunning wouldn't be much of an issue on Undead mobs. I just wonder if IoN would proc more with such a low delay? :-)
My 37 Pally gets 2 procs(on average) per Undead in LDoNs with a 31 delay weapon(Sharpened Mining Pick(16/31))
I'll be looking for this as soon as I hit lvl 45 :-)
BTW my Lvl 37 Pally has over 140 DEX 180 STR 125 AGI 130 STA and 110 WIS so far....always working on getting stats even higher. :-)

The following is *my* opinion, take from it what you will. I can only speak for myself, using the experience I have had as a casual player, playing in one of the older servers (Fennin Ro) in EQ. I would guess that the Newbie server (Stromm) may be different.

First of all, the statistics on this weapon may seem incredible to those that play dual-wielding melee characters, but to a knight, we are used to having one-handed weapons with these seemingly crazy stats. Knights get to wield only one weapon, so our swords and maces compensate by having elevated stats when compared to general melee weapons.

With that in mind, knight-only weapons with damage/delay ratios similar to this are pretty common, and have been easily available ever since the release of Luclin. I got this sword as a guild-applicant (to a guild that was still farming ToV) almost a year ago. This mob was a joke (about 23 people in the raid), and none of the knights wanted it, so they let me, an app, loot it.

Now a days, every paladin on my server that can enter BoT has one of these.

But, to me, the most telling thing about this weapon is this: A guildmate linked over guildchat a droppable, knight-only, one handed weapon with stats very close to this one, and asked for a price check. I went to the bazaar and found the weapon for sale on about 9 vendors from a low price of 200pp to a top price of 1000pp.

If this weapon did not have a recommended level, then it would be a great twink item. But because of the recommended level, it competes with many similar existing weapons that are relatively common and easy to get.

The way the game is today, this is a good weapon that is overshadowed by better and easier to acquire weapons. Some can argue that the weapon is great, and some complain that it sucks, but the truth is that no one (at least on my server) is going to go out of their way to try to get one.

if you look at your effect damage or dps meter you would see this is better.

LOL, it makes me happy to be able to rate someone as excellent 5.0 for simply saying "STFU Dumbass" well said. ;-)
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 07 2003 at 3:38 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) The weapon does suck. Dunno why you're tell him to shut up because your opinion is wrong, deal with it.
RE: weaponsux
# Sep 23 2003 at 10:54 PM Rating: Decent
Ok man do you even know what an opinion is???

An opinion cannont be wrong as it is NOT a fact is is how someone feels. Just because your opinion is different does not make his wrong.

And as for the sword itself it is quite good as it is obtainable to most players.
Yes there are far better swords but how many will the average player actually be abel to get?

So fine you don't like the sword thta is your opinion but we do that is our opinion. No need to flame jsut because it is easy. Try justifying what you say rather jsut flame that way peopel will respect what you have to say,

He was voicing HIS opinion too,so chill out.

As for the original poster,he apparently has never played a Paladin very long for this stupid statement he made: "Knights get to wield only one weapon, so our swords and maces compensate by having elevated stats". Paladins wield SHIELDS which usually have much better stats than most weapons,so that line of thought was just dumb.
Plus, with Bash, shields are almost a dual-wield weapon that can occassionally stun mobs.
This has very nice stats for a weapon. Others may have better, but so what?
I would love one for my Pally :-)

secondary
# Mar 17 2003 at 12:27 AM Rating: Default
why does this say secondary on it when the classes that can use it cant duel wield? just something that boggles my mind when it comes to SOE's judgement when making items.
RE: secondary
# Mar 25 2004 at 3:27 PM Rating: Decent
It is now Primary only
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 21 2003 at 6:16 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Just to give up Shadow Knights and Paladins hope that someday perhaps we will be able to dual wield...

So long Greenmist!

This effectively eliminates the need to do that long and difficult Greenmist quest! Nice to see SOE finally giving us SK's some weapons that aren't more geared toward the Pally's...)

Rangers...
# Nov 18 2002 at 7:41 PM Rating: Default
I'm certain that there are some great ranger blades out there, just that they haven't been posted yet.

Here's another great blade to go with a nice shield.
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 18 2002 at 7:14 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Thanx, Verant, give pallys and sks all these sweet new weapons and ***** over rangers, I haven't seen a 1hs for rangers w/ a higher dmg than dly yet. Give me a break, pallys and sks already get a good majority of the awesome 2 handers and now they're takin over 1 handers too, how is this fair, not to mention, I'm sure, rogues and warrs are sort of peeved too. Granted, this isn't one of the god-like 1 handers, but it's still better than most rangers will ever see.
RE: Rangers get screwed
# Nov 18 2002 at 7:58 PM Rating: Default
OK do you happen to notice how pallys and sks can only wield ONE weapon and rangers and warriors can wield TWO? Hmmmm i wonder why its only sk/pally. Anyway youre not even close to the level to see one of these so just be patient im sure verant hasnt forgotten about you just yet.

Yeah, bro! It really sucks that there aren't going to be any more new weapons...ever. Sheesh. Patience, Daniel-san. How 'bout you check out the new ranger only bows Mr. Ranger man?

peace.

Nuts, you guys voted his post off before I could flame him lol j/k, anyways, if he's still around, check out this weapon:

JAGGED SHARD OF FROZEN FLAME
DMG:17 DELAY:20
STR:+15 STA:+10 AGI:+15 HP:+125 MANA:+100
SVMAGIC:+7 SVFIRE:+7 SVPOISON:+7 SVDISEASE:+7
SVCOLD:+7
RECOMMENDED LVL OF 62
EFFECT: EMBER STRIKE (DECREASES HP BY 120)
CLASSES:WAR, ROG, RAN, BAR.
RACE:ALL

Ok, this mirthirl blade has one dmg more than the jagged one, but the Jagged has lost more hp, mana, and proc to boot. So Rangers would benifit from it more than they would if they could use the Suilled Mithril blade.

I'm loving all these keen new paladin/shadowknight weapons that are coming out of the planes. Granted, it'll be a while before I get the chance to see any of them, and I may have to bludgeon a few paladins to death in order to get them, but at least they're there.
