I honestly that in EQ Clerics get the dirty end of the stick by being passed up on using equipment like this! This is not the first piece of equipment that would be extremely beneficial to a Cleric made non-usable by clerics. It just is NOT fair!
you obviously dont see the hammer off of VZ, or pretty much any gear that drops in the planes that is wis caster usable...not many classes are screwed over (except for MAYBE BL's, but who cares about BL's?)

ironic how I usually post something about DKP system and how the person who has the most points and places a bid on the item gets it.. then people reply with flames and such, hence the low score rating on my post LOL. It's just not worth posting anything on these items because it's always about what class should get ABC item. 95% of the people bickering here will never see these items and probably think it's being distributed with /random 0 1000.
There are numerous ways to distribute loot and the most fair way tends to be the DKP system for the high end raiding guilds. The person that attends the raids gets rewardes with points and those points are used to bid on items. When you win an item, points are reduced. Pros: people that raid consistently with good attendance will have more than those who raid less, thus, they should be rewarded. Also, each person can equip themself more efficiently because they aren't going to be as willing to waste points on an item that might not be much of an upgrade. Cons: items will rot/destroyed when no one bids. There's no point in bidding on an item that isn't much of an upgrade to you. Once your guild farms a certain zone for awhile, most people either have the item already or have something better. Usually by then the guild will move on to other zones that are more difficult.
He's talking about a Dragon Points System or something similiar. Basically, you are awarded points for every raid/guild event you attend. When an item drops, instead of a guild leader deciding who it goes to or randoming it, if you want it you bid a certain number of points. The person bidding the most points gets the item. Once you have won an item, you lose the points you bid.
This works well for many of the high end raiding guild because it encourages attendance and tends to let loot get distributed among the right classes. People don't want to waste their points so they tend not to bid on "nice" items, they only bid on something they really want. It also ends arguments about "I've been here longer, I deserve it" or "That random was unfair, give it to me" type of thing - arguments that can arrise in guilds that focus purely on equipment and raiding. I believe most of the high end guilds use a system similar to this.
The person on the raid who is the main looter, links the item on the corpse to the raid channel. Those who are eligible to bid then bid. Who ever wins the item then loots it off. Pretty simple and far and away the fairest way to do things for higher end raiding.
Hate to say this, but though I can see how a hybrid would definitely benefit from this, I think that this would be well-suited for amyone who can get it. Just my 2cp, but it's how I feel about most every item, except for ones that are designed with purpose.
Please note, this is not a flame, just a statement of opinion.
If you sift through all the highend gear drop for melee, you'll pretty much everything have several of the str/sta/dex/agi stats along with both HP and mana. Sure, it has wis/int but if XYZ player has a bunch of points saved up and has an item with only 65 or 75 hp, they might bid on it. The ultravision is also great.
