Found one in the bazaar for a steal 5000pp Alowed me to give my chetari wardstaff to my necro and to use this in combination with the stein of Mogokk in secondary. at lvl 42 is gives 10 int love this things look. I think I am one of only a had full of wizards on Povar that ar not wearing a rob. I have this nice chain armor look. great weapon if ya can afford it.
Bought one for 8k in the bazaar on Vazaelle. I think I got a steal compared to what others had been selling them at.
The dagger is nice to look at and helps with the stats. The stamina is a must for higher levels no matter what class you play.
The int will give me the ablility to replace lower int gear with better resist gear and keep my 250 int until i get enough AA points and level to get my int cap higher.
Anyone who says that resist are only for raids, IMHO, doesn't play EQ the right way. As a solo and grouping mage, I fight casters in JPF and in the planes. Especially in the Plane of Disease. Those #### lightcrawler pests will fear you.
Mana and HPs are a must at 55+. Even for us mages, HPs will save your tail. All my gear put together is about 500 xtra HPs. Don't think it will save me from blood raven, but it all saved me from a lightcrawler pest last night. By the time my group got back agro, I was at 21% health ... oowwwie! Eveyone knows that at 19% or less and the mob be bent on killing you due to low health.
All in all, I love this item. There are better out there, but for the price I paid being a non-guilded / non-epicied magician it rocks!
A very nice peice of equipment for the casters. Resists are a welcome add for them, and the Int. and mana is the thing everyone cast use in this lvl range..
this is great item... people say onyl use is the itn and mana.... BULL.... the resists and hp will save ur butt... sure its not alot.... but add that to all the other gear we got with hp and resists..... its a much needed thing onc u hit 50+ .... int is nothing too easy to cap out... if ur raiding those big MOBs ur gonna need all the hp and sv's u can get ur hands on..
But Aeradiel said: They've changed it. I looted one of these last night not secondary equipable and no Damage bonus.
The "no damage bonus" part says that you're a caster, right? All weapons have a damage bonus by default, based on the class and level of the wielder. So they did not remove the damage bonus.
Probably that means you don't have dual wield either. If you don't have dual wield, you can't equip a weapon in offhand under any circumstances. This is a weapon. It can thus be put in only main hand if you don't have dual wield.
Just saying it's possible that it was not changed.
Simple. The pic was taken by a melee. Casters have no damage bonus, but if a melee were to look at it it would display a damage bonus for them. If the pic were to be taken by a caster there would be no damage bonus there.
As for your statement about dual wielding, that is correct. This should say Primary only because its a weapon, but it doesn't really matter anyway.
I bet it says Primary and secondary for the same reason it has a dmg bonus - a melee took the pic. Thus if a caster looked, it would only show Primary.
I'm almost positive this is incorrect. I have seen many items linked to me in /gu with damage bonuses, and I am a caster. The most common example of this is the bone halberd that drops in Dawnshroud Peaks: I can't even equip it, but it displays the +9 damage bonus when I inspect it.
Thankfully, that is not true! Can you imagine the chaos if screen-shots taken by casters never listed secondary slot for weapons?! My god, that would be a mess. People get confused enough about dmg bonus, and that doesn't even change what slots you can use it in!
Actually it was an error somebody made in making a bunch of the new PoP caster items, putting Secondary on them whne none of the classes could dual wield, and they have been systematically removing Secondary from all those items. The picture was taken before they fixed this item, but now it doesnt have Secondary anymore.
I dont know about the rest of you, but I happen to love the fact that my Wizard, Mage and Necro kept their weapon skills up. If not just for the novelty of it. How often when soloing as a wizard do you get that mob with in 50hp of death just to watch him turn his back on you but be unable to even crawl away. So now do you sit if its safe and mem a level 12 spell and hope it doesnt resist and waste mana, or big blast again and waste mana just to be sure. This is when I like to break out my weapon and run up and show off my muscles. (/snicker) Lets not foget about medding in low level areas and that bedamned skeleton or wolf of some sort tries to off you. what do you do.. waste the mana you were spending time medding for?... nah break out to Ol' Quil and off the puppy and get back to your business. Even the staff of wirthing has its place here. Sure its slow, but with the proc it can help you finish off your mob a little easier seeing how poor our melee skills are. I personally could see myself loving this weapon. The stats are great, and for myself wearing TJs robe(haste) would have lots of fun, and thats what its all about some times isnt it, the fun. Perhaps its just the warrior in me. Not to bore you any longer, but its nice to be a pure caster but not have to give up all hope of ever having an offense with some stein or Tunare forgive me the eye of some dead creature in my main hand, stopping me form dealing even a little bit of mana.
wow, a 10/18 one-hander with 12 bonus. That'll work wonders for all those meleeing wizzies, necros, chanters and mages.
/sarcasm off
For the classes able to use this, the only decent stats are the 12int and 35 mana. Although nothing to sneeze at, anyone able to enter PoV and kill this guy almost certainly has better for a secondary.
Yes, yes. The 9sta and 35hp will give a caster an extra 60hp? What's that, about one eighth of a single hit from mobs in this zone that almost always double on us squishy caster-types.
I've tashed, slowed, crippeled and mana is sitting at 90% or more. No adds cause ranger and sk are good pullers...what do i do? Should i sit twidling my thumbs waiting for the next pull? Hell no! I step on up and start stabbing the mobs.
Sure my best hits are upper 20s, but still, its better than nothing. I am shammy buffed, and i've hasted my self before the MT and dps so i have sov. I can cast some dot and sit back but its much more fun to get in there and throw some punches...err stabs? My wife game me this thing and my offensive skills are nearly capped now. Unless i am dealing with a charmed mob, buffing or working cc, i am scratching the hell out of some mobs back with this thing. =)
side note: I'll take all the hp i can get. My dodge skill is maxed, and not every blow lands at full damage. I can't tel you how many times i have made it through a fight with just a smidgen of life left or just lasted long enough for my cleric or shammy land a quick heal.
Brell's is only 250. I guess that's not worth getting cast on you because it's just half a hit from a PoP mob. Aego? Only 2 hits. Focus is another 1 hit. Hmm... you get full hp buffs and can't withstand a PoP quad. Why bother buffing you at all? /sarcasm off
Wow...That's one wicked lookin' quill! I'm not sure I want to try to read a map made with this thing. I know this is a stupid post...Sorry I took your time...I'll go hang my head and sit in the corner for the next few hours...
