Ultra rare
# Jul 17 2006 at 12:13 PM Rating: Decent
These things are awesome for a twink Bard. They are too rare though. I would easily spend 200k on one if I could not find one cheaper. The MOD is excellent. I wish they were not so rare/expensive. If you have the 200+k to spend then GET THIS RING. Thanks

i used to solo HoH with my enchanter. I've killed roughly 200-300 a Valorian Guardian and a Valorian Sentry and have NEVER seen this ring drop.

I have seen the INT caster only wrist drop only once.

This ring is rare as hell.

Can confirm ring still drops on sentrys in hoh. I will tell you now this is not something you can just come and camp, It is tooooo insanly rare.

I came to hoh at lvl 64 33aa right after I got my COD spell and I've hit every sentry I've ever found up. I looted ring about a week ago at lvl 66 holding myself a couple kills from ding to maximise xp from hoh and 261 aas, Now I have xped in other places during this time but not much I'm a soloer for the most part and love hoh for that reason.

I've been in this place over six months now killed probably well over 300 sentrys but who knows maybe more never really counted. Probably killed thousands of sentry PHs. So whoever said 100kp is over the top we'll maybe it is stat and mod wise but I can't imagine when the last one entered my server as a drop maybe one or two since the nerf? We'll on to the eye I guess now, you'll probably see a post from me on that drop 6 to 8 months from now lol. BTW I play on Dro and if you got a ton of cash to burn and want this ring send Lanlawen a tell.

HoH or Valor?
# May 12 2004 at 5:00 PM Rating: Decent
I have spent quite a bit of time hunting in the Halls of Honor, concentrating on clearing the guards and guardians and mentally trying to get sentries to spawn, and killing them as well. So far I have never even had a sniff of this ring, and many who have hunted there as well have never even heard of the thing. Do you think I would have better luck in Valor?

RE: ring over instrument?
# Feb 06 2004 at 2:59 PM Rating: Decent
Got this for 12k and happy that I did. Resist shield in Off hand, Drum in Primary, ring on finger. I can tripple twist damage, add in a stinged song for health or health/mana, and selo's as needed. If you play a bard you know that things don't always end up rosey, and mobs do manage to hit us from time to time. Getting hit and NOT being able to sing a higher lvl healing song because you don't have a string instrument equiped really stinks. This ring allows us to keep doing our damage and healing ourselves.

Why wouldn't a bard want it? No reason I can come up with.

100k+ is just silly.
RE: ring over instrument?
# Feb 01 2004 at 8:25 PM Rating: Default
No higher Bard will play a heal song while he is solofighting mobs. He will use percussion.
Sometimes a stringed instrument is requiered to play a song (you can not sing it), but you don't want to shift your weapons, or you are in a hurry and don't have the time to do so.
Besides that the ring has the right stats for a bard (the HP and Mana bonus could be shifted).

But I agree that 100k+ would be over the edge.
RE: ring over instrument?
# Jun 25 2004 at 8:25 PM Rating: Decent
Well i am a 'higher bard' and when i solo i frequently if not always have to play a bit of regen mid-fight.
We can't stop to med and heal a bit after each fight, we keep moving and must keep the hps topped up.

Ever tried herding 20odd blue mobs for an AoE? Getting hit once for 80% of health, you cant afford to run to the zone at that point after all that time gathering mobs. So you play regen and run about.

Even when drum kiting you get plinked and the hps will slowly drop, twisting 3dots and a regen is nice and having a string bonus is essential in that case.

And yes 100k is daft :)
Why pay that much
# Jan 19 2004 at 3:23 PM Rating: Decent
Well when I bought my ring, I got it for 13k...woohoo!! I don't know why a bard would spend 100-200k on this ring. I understand that this ring is one of the more important item/instrument if you don't have epic yet, but I would rather save that money to buy the red and white dragon scales to do epic. Atmost, I would pay up to equal the amount of a scale, so maybe about 50k max on EM server. Well, I recently got my epic, so I happily sold mine for 30k and freed up a lot for betah gear (need more STA/HP gear...hehe).
pp worth?

Bought on The tribunal for 64k and decided to be silly and go in trader mode and put it for 150k woke up and it had sold guess this thing is uber rare.

Got it in bazaar for 12kpp tonight, first time i have seen it fir a long time and last time i saw them they were 60kpp+, was stoked especially with all the frickin inflation of late, bought it right up. Is an awesome ring, have yet to transfer it to my bard =)
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 06 2003 at 11:20 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) If you doubt it make a new bard and give it your thunderous drum. Feel slow? Well of course you do, thus our instrument bonuses improve as we do.
RE: Level Denotes Instrument Bonus
# Jan 17 2004 at 5:55 PM Rating: Decent
Miss Sanche,
Instrument bonus DOES NOT increase with levels, INSTRUMENT BONUS IS A FIXED AMOUNT, however max effect does does change with level. Take our lvl 1 song Chant of battle, one of the effects is AC increase from 1-6. At level 1 with no instrument it will give you 1 point in AC, now if you equip a drum with, say, a 2.0 mod on it you will get 2 points towards AC (even though you are still lvl 1). I begin to doubt your self proclaimed title of "Badass Bardess" if you dont even know the basic rules for instrument mods.
RE: Level Denotes Instrument Bonus
# Oct 24 2003 at 11:57 AM Rating: Good
Songs improve with level. That would explain why your level 5 bard would feel slower than your level 60.
RE: Level Denotes Instrument Bonus
# Dec 23 2003 at 6:52 PM Rating: Decent
agreed, look at your song data, it says improve movement by xx(lvl5) to xx(lvl54). thus it is the song getting stronger not the instrument. try it on a dot with a cheap combine drum, then with your tdok, see the difference.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 21 2003 at 2:27 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Finally found one in bazaar for 45k. Wish I had that kind of money. Guess I'll settle for battle drummers main gauche for now.

Was at this camp, "Hero camp" with some guildies other day. after 2 kills this ring dropped. No bards in group so rolled on it and won. Didnt really relize its value till looking here. Just wonder if people seen theses for sale at all and about how much? Looking to upgrade a couple things on my warrior and like to give and get a fair price. Thanks

This ring and other gear with instrument mods
# Jun 18 2003 at 12:18 PM Rating: Default
Just wanted to point out a few things.

Lewkia made a comment about the epics bonus to singing based songs. While Lewkia may have a point on songs lower than level 60, I rarely use any singing based song that is not level 61+. Only about 7 of the 19 61+ songs are singing based. Only Psalm of Veeshan and Rizlona's Call of Flame are the only 60+ singing based group songs, all the other 61+ singing based songs are detriment type songs. While the bard epic mod for singing may effect Psalm of Veeshan, it has no effect on Rizlona's Call of Flame cause mods don't effect haste/slow/focus buffs.

With that said, the bard epic is fast becoming obsolete. I currently have these items with mod effects.

Troubadours Mace (Brass mod)
Battle Drummers Main Gauche (Percussion Mod)
Rapier of Curses (String Mod)
Tear Shaped Ring (String Mod)

The need for an epic for me is purely situational. I rarely find need to equip my epic anymore with these weapons I now carry. And the new Singing Mastery, Jam Fest, and Instrument Mastery AA's do make up for the epic if you choose not to equip it.

And you don't need to be in a powerhouse guild anymore to get these items (except maybe the Rapier of Curses). The Gauche and Tear Shaped Ring can be gotten with a single group and the ring can be soloed. Same goes for the Troubadours mace, or you can buy one in the bazaar.

When you boil it down, it's all about what songs you are twisting and what gear you are using.

While there are certainly weapons out there that might replace the Bard epic the Troubadour's Mace is NOT one of them. Why would you give up the stats on the epic for the crap stats on the mace? Any Bard dumb enough to do that shouldn't be a Bard in the first place.

Compair the 2...

Troubadour's Mace
LORE ITEM MAGIC ITEM
Damage: 13
Delay: 21
Ratio: 1.615 Amazing
Str: +7 Dex: +7 Magic Resist: +5 Fire Resist: +5 HP: +30 Mana: +25
Weight: 2.0
Weapon Skill: One Hand Blunt
Classes: Bard
Races: All Races

Singing Short Sword
LORE ITEM MAGIC ITEM NO DROP
Damage: 16
Delay: 26
Ratio: 1.625 Amazing
Str: +15 Sta: +5 Dex: +10 Cha: +20 Magic Resist: +10 Fire Resist: +10 Cold Resist: +10 Poison Resist: +10 Disease Resist: +10 HP: +100
Weight: 2.0
Weapon Skill: One Hand Slash
Classes: Bard
Races: All Races
Inventory Slot: Either Melee

The ONLY increase is a .o1 increase in the ratio. EVERYTHING else is a loss by using the Mace over the Epic. Even the Musical mod is the same being .75 on BOTH.

Xenoone, disagreeing on your epic outlook
# Jun 11 2003 at 2:03 PM Rating: Decent
I can see your point but you're missing something. You said you have pieces of gear that are handling your instrument effects. OK, pretty cool. Which piece of your gear is enhancing songs based on singing skill?
RE: Xenoone, disagreeing on your epic outlook

Voice of the Serpent adds to song mod like amplifcation, plus it goes in your ammo slot just like Tiny cloak of Darkest night (1.5 invis). Drops in Ssra Temple Basement off Yelwinz and can be solo'd by a 60+ bard.

Oddly enough, there are more 60+ unepiced bards out there than you seem to think. and oddly enough most bards i do know with epic use it only as stringed/brass/wind. ring of gallentry it better i agree. No epic here but as of now i have stringed, precussion, brass, and wind insturments all covered by my gear. Epic proc would be nice but in all honestly its not worth all the effort anymore. already MUCH better bard weapons out there.

Nice ring and not just for twinks, not everyone has a guild that will get them thier epic. or the money to buy dragon scales for it(or connects to kill the dragons you have to kill after level 53 to get them.) i personally like it but there are rings i would drop it in the garbage for

Same results on the modifyer (as far as Animoofin stated) for my bard when she was 48 and had one. As well as the Main-Gauche. (ya ok she's twinked) it appears as though bards % isnt effected by the reccommended level deal, though the stats are :) love this ring, love the main-gauche and love that damn mace ! excellent combination for any pre-epic bard imo.

Got another one today.

Valorian Sentry Dropped. 20 hour camp. Got 2 Wristbands of Strategy and one ring in about 65 hours between drops.

Very streaky. Only two spects tho.

Dropped for me and a 65 bard from a Valorian Sentry. Ultra Ultra rare drop. I've seen about 10WristGaurds of Strategy, and ONE of these things. All of these kills are post HoH nerfage, and post HoH spect/ethereal drop revamp.

About one in 10-15 Sentry's drops the wristgaurd. About one in must be 200 dropped the ring.

Is this dropped by a named or yard trash (Guardians, Protectors of Marr, Wrulons, etc).

Reccommended Level
# Dec 25 2002 at 11:50 AM Rating: Decent
I haven't been able to test the ring on my bard, but it may work for bards under 56, perhaps at a reduced modifier. The Troubador's Mace (recommended level 50) does work for my 48 bard, by which I mean she can equip it, and it does give a modifier to brass songs for her.
RE: Reccommended Level
# Dec 26 2002 at 10:05 AM Rating: Decent
Picked this up for my 51 Bard.
Hymn of Restoration tested.
14 HP/tick no instrument or ring.
21 HP/tick with just ring.
24 HP/tick with Lute of the Howler (no ring).
Awesome item.

Percent
# Nov 17 2002 at 2:20 AM Rating: Decent
Did Tests with this ring and epic and the epic string % and this ring are the same % so this injunction with other items you could get rid of epic completly. But this ring would probably be best for someone in your guild that doesn't have there epic yet would help them greatly.
