Still worth it..

Won the Band tonight in a pick-up group (54-63) and I consider the ring to still be a good find. At 59, I've slipped it on my finger, replacing my Band of Dark Betrayal for every-day wear.

I died after pulling The Sleep Walker to the northeast corner of the inner cave and had plenty of time to run back from PoK, re-arm and get back into the fight before it lost more then 70% of its health; it's still a long fight for one group of honest folk with a very quick cleric.

this ring is overpriced, and only 35k on Ab so i wont get except if in grp that downs 2 that drop it. It is a caster ring, some hybrids would like, but there r better rings for hybrids and mellee types out there.
As for the crap spoken above about peeps who go on about VT, look at raids u need to get VT key , and think if they have VT key this would be as worthless as ring of frost, as they would be getting hi8gh end stuff, and usually VT is last key peeps get, after getting to time, as quite a few guilds r there VT is only priority after getting flags all way thru to time, tho of course each person can farm lucid shards tween times, i have 3 at mo, but wont get any more till guild i am with catches up flag wise unless i do myself and as my main is cleric lucid shards r very hard to get alone.
I was looking at this item for my shammy and maybe cleric not sure as may have better on cleric if i remember right.

Wow! I thought somone mispriced this when I got it for 200pp in the bazaar. I had no Idea it was worth this much! I gave it to my druid, but now am thinking of reselling it...

I sold mine this morning on Rallos Zek. Saw somone auctioning to buy one for 40K a couple weeks ago and then watched the bazaar to confirm the price was a fair one. Never saw one auctioned.

So, I threw it up in the trade window today for 65K thinking it is overpriced and I will bring the price down slowly until I get into the fair price realm. Bamm! Sold it almost instantly. I am wondering if I shouldn't have asked for more, it sold so freaking fast!

Ok - just like to post that a week or two ago i got this off a named skele in PoV - I believe it was something like Lieutenant Baelin Dwinn.
He did NOT summon. Have killed him a total of about 8 times and nothing except eth parchs on the other times - and sometimes nothing. Its seems to me there are about 10 different named skeles in PoV - some static spawns some have PH. The spots that are home to PHs cant spawn the others. Some of the other named skeles are as follows:

An Undead Footman - drops uber bard horn ~ NOT summon
An Undead Doorman - No idea ~ DOES summon
Lieutenant Baelin Dwinn - Band of the Visionary ~ NOT summon
Lieutenant Junis Brosnan - No idea ~ DOES summon
A Skeletal Guardian - No idea ~ NOT summon
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Not recalling some of the others iv only seen one or two times
There ya go
Just a thought, but if you had to pick a class that could benefit most from what this item has to offer, I would probably say a Necromancer. Dex, Int, Hp, Mana, and then saves. All something necros need. Personaly I think it is a great item and would use it regularly on my 62 paladin. It's a great drop and doestn't require a raid force, kinda tough to be on every raid your guild has and have the best items drop all the time, and have them all awarded to you, hehe. From what I hear this mob is doable with 2 groups and less, making your chances of getting it pretty good if it drops. Good luck to all that try for this item.
Closest ring I can find..
This ring still isn't quite as good. As a Druid, I'm hoping to get some wisdom and resists out of my ring. Int casters probably want the same except with intelligence instead of wis. I'm sure all the Melee people are looking for HPs, resists, and AC.
It's the best droppable ring for my Druid that I know of.
Find something comparable!
# Feb 25 2003 at 4:14 PM Rating: Excellent
I paid 42k for this ring and I'm very pleased. Compare it to a Ring Of Winter for example... more wis, more AC, more resists. A RoW goes for 8k easily on my server at the time of this post. Think of another ring to compare it to...
This ring is valuable because it has VERY nice stats AND nice resists. Is it the BEST in all the areas? No. But it's pretty good all-around, and thats something very good to get from a ring. No, it's not a great Melee ring, but casters and hybrids would do very well with it.
Show me something comparable thats an all/all ring and is less than 40K and I'll agree that I overpaid. I have yet to find anything that gives me better stats for the pp.
High quality ring
# Feb 09 2003 at 9:35 PM Rating: Excellent
There are plenty of guilds who dont have the physical resources to camp vex thall or other excellent drop areas and still have the bank to buy this item. Considering that it kicks in as truely useful around level 35 or earlier depending upon your idea of useful, and many other rings of this quality are required level 46 or more, or worse, NO DROP. this ring is also ALL/ALL, and has int, wis, and mana.
Now, when you are prepping to do this guy you should make sure that you have more than just a throw-together group of ebayers and career soloers. Granted, uber items make uber characters but also breed lazy players.
The ring
Got this yesterday off Lieutant Baelin Dwinn, I know for a fact it drops off the sleep walker, but I've killed the lieutant literally dozens of times, and this is the first time he had this or any real item as a drop (frequently he drops an ethereal and the shield of unwavering faith - quest shield), this time he dropped this ring, the shield and an ethereal.....well worth the effort IMHO though it must be like 1 in 100 that he might drop this.
Decent caster item
# Nov 23 2002 at 2:22 AM Rating: Decent
Clearly its more like a ring for casters than melee class, I m surprised not many in 10+ posts see this.
Ring of flowing slime is good, but its LORE, what u gonna wear on ur another finger?
this ring combine of resistance and stats, it sells big plat for that reason, until u can get some no drop uber ring, this ring worth 40k or more imo.
I got this with a high roll, it also drop quill, spectral parchment, ethreal parchment; I wouldn't sell this for any 40k or under, would just rather keep it just becuz the fact
1, this mob is rare spawn, I stayed in that cave for like 18hours on and off due to group breaks, it finally show up at least when I about to log.
2, this mob is NOT exactly a 1 group mob, yes i heard someone taken it down with 1 group but u all must be somehow uber; this mob is more like 8ppl mini raid (add one more tank and cleric into ur regular group), so ur chance to win this ring is like 1/8 default, on top of a mob that might not spawn for entire day of camping.
After all, this is a decent item for casters and most well played casters (hence rich) will pay 30k to 40k for this ring; If u see this sell for lower, grab it and count urself lucky.
RE: Decent caster item
# Apr 17 2003 at 10:28 AM Rating: Default
I've taken SW down with 1 group about 4 or 5 times.. only failed once and that was because we didn't have a decent tank.
Fairly common thing to do while camping inner.. *shrug*
Not for hybrids.
# Nov 18 2002 at 2:07 PM Rating: Default
Been playing hybrids as 60% of my account for the last 3 years, and I can tell you I wouldn't use this ring.
While it is true that its slightly similar to ring of flowing slime, take into account that flowing slime has a LOT more hitpoints via stamina (10 stamina and 55hp pure, totalling out to about 97 hitpoints to lets say a Ranger or a Rogue)
Also, its only "meele" stat being Dex, it doesnt do much for hybrids damage output wise. Paladins and Shadowknights definitelly can't afford to loose any Hp's at most times, so they wouldnt be using this ring most likely as it only has 30hp.
Good caster/Priest ring, but thats about all it is. Not a meele item by a long shot.
Only reason a meele would wear it, is if they were desperate for resists, and the only way a meele would be awarded it, is if the majority, if not all of the casters/priests had this ring already.
ok tim
# Dec 15 2002 at 8:12 AM Rating: Decent
i for one know you arent speaking on my behalf. look at my rings and tell me i wont use this either. i know many hybrids that will wear this. there are still many end game players that dont have better than this much less better than velium fire wedding rings. i know your not going to see this but maybe i can persuade one more person from posting nonesense posts that pretty much state a "im better than this and everyone else should be too" attitude. this will benefit anyone that can and will use. honestly i dont think ill ever be in a group where someone wouldnt want this ring, even just for selling :P.
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 15 2002 at 8:45 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) on a pvp server like rallos this is worse than worthless, plz make more no drop. Bullseye for anyone wearing this.
Dex, Wis
# Nov 14 2002 at 2:08 AM Rating: Decent
I agree, it's definately not a MT ring, but with that Dex and Wis, it seems like a pretty good Ranger ring. Granted, it's not a 45k value, but Dex, Wis, Mana, and AC all help a soloing ranger, and any Ranger with a bow. Just my thoughts...
RE: Dex, Wis
# Nov 14 2002 at 7:15 AM Rating: Decent
Heh, Dex/Wis is also what I look for on my shaman. Dex is handy for channeling but I get it for procing purposes. I play on pvp server and use a variety of weapons depending on the situation most of which have some sort of proc I find useful. With Rage on (hes only 52 atm) my shaman runs around with 210+ dex/str all the time, which is quite handy for that extra little bit of beat down on other caster types.
It'd make a good addition alongside a Ring of Flowing Slime (for hybrids.. can't see much else besides a pure caster or hybrid using this).
Hybrid Too
# Nov 13 2002 at 7:53 PM Rating: Decent
This would even be good for the Hybrid classes such as Paladin, SK and such.
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 13 2002 at 6:42 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is one sweet ring for any class (cept non casting of course). I wouldn't mind picking this up and flauting it around for a while. Guessing if anyone were crazy enough to sell it, it'd probably go for around 45k or higher. Too bad it doesn't have a focus effect.
RE: I have a vision!
# Nov 14 2002 at 6:23 PM Rating: Decent
For 45k.. I better get this ring and a lap dance.. IRL. And she better be decent lookin' too!
RE: I have a vision!
# Nov 13 2002 at 11:50 PM Rating: Decent
45K or higher? You were joking, right? I'll tell you why this ring isn't so hot: Only 30hp/mana, no STA, and no effect of ay kind. It is by no means a bad ring, but a 45k ring it most certainly is not.
RE: I have a vision!
# Nov 14 2002 at 7:52 AM Rating: Decent
I would have to totally agree this is a wonderful hybrid ring, or even a priest ring even though i have seen much better coming out of the planes and VT for priest classes, but 45k is outrageous, just my thoughs.
RE: I have a vision!
# Nov 14 2002 at 3:36 PM Rating: Decent
I would agree. As a ranger I would definitely not pay 45k for this, even though it seems to fit me like a glove. I would think a better price would be 10-15K, especially since there is no effect and no increase in the ever important STR/STA/HP categories. Unfortunately though, I will bet this will sell for 45K and people will buy it, just because of the disturbing trend of things in the bazaar to be overpriced and the relatively difficult process of grouping and obtaining good loot like this (other than with your guild) in the higher levels. Just my 2cp (which I will sell for 10pp in the bazaar) =)
