Quite a nice earring for all classes who can wear it. The 85hp, saves, and decent AC would be a great boost for any melee. The 7wis/int also makes this earring a great drop for hybrids as well - increasing the HPs AND the mana pool keeps Paladins, SKs, and Rangers in the fight a little longer.

I am really impressed with most of the loot that POP has to offer so far.

Might as well re name it Mosquito Earring 2.0
With the difficulty of the mob who drops this versus the difficulty of the mobs which drop the Mosquito in Cazic thule all I have to say is, that this item isnt very balanced for risk vs reward

What is driving me up the wall MORE than the 'this is a monk item' rant on every item in existance is this new one dealing with Risk vs. Reward. I saw it on another post recently that drove me up the wall. It had to do with the Heat Sight mask dropped by Velk. Same thing is happening here. It's like someone saying the risk vs. reward for the mithril greaves is not worth it. Well, I got news for you. People don't kill Nagafen for the stupid pants he drops. They take him down for a HOST of different items of which the greaves MAY be one of. So when you say that risk vs reward is not good for an item, you are completely IGNORING the fact that most higher end mobs drop more than just ONE item. So sit down and wait for the large popping noise when your head finally clears the sphincter muscle.

Another flamer. I'm assuming you've fought in Zek extensively. Do tell. Skip the nonsense about you and sphincters, I'm really not interested in your sexual orientation.

The mob in question does not drop a "HOST" of items as you say.

ugh...stupid posters like Ulvian make these discussion threads quite useless.

sure its not VT material and i don't really agree on rec. lvl 60...but still 85hp is damn nice for a droppable earring.

...i just wonder how long it will take until you loser will post "monk item" beings since the weight is 0.2

Nearest I can tell, he didn't say it sucked. No need to insult him. Mosquito eye earring is a nice item. What he did say is that this wasn't worth the risk:Reward ratio.

Getting flagged for the Fortress is not a cakewalk. Exping there is extremely difficult. Lastly, the mob that dropped this is easily 5X more difficult than doing the planks in CT.

This being DROPPABLE is the reason why it has a rec lvl of 60, to my mind at least.

I see it as a clever way to make it possible to pass up decent items in guilds, because obviously not everybody got the best of the best in each slot, even in the biggest guilds.

Anyway that's better than to have to destroy it once you loot better.

This being said i'd like a few infos on this guy, Appallohadas, seems like you ganked him, would you mind sharing your knowledge (max hit, slowable or not, special attacks, AE, and perhaps a rough idea on its total HPs? )

This mob is and has been one groupable for well over a year. Just like most everything in POP you need to have right groups for the encounter. Vinta is one of the easiest named mobs in Plane of Tactics to beat. Just need a big tank, cleric and a balanced supporting cast. The area where he typically spawns, hint its random he has several PH's even seen him spawned more than once in a day. That area you cant mez hardly any of the mobs there so you have to be able to get single pulls be able to split and add that hits for 900+.
Very beatable for one group , that group had best be players on the ball though and really know their class. There are now odd pathing wanderers that never used to be there that are blue cons and mezzable but you have to be looking for them or alot of times they can sneak up on you. Id not suggest trying this without a 9k hps + warrior if your doing it single grouped. Over kill on healing power is good idea too. Cleric/druid and a shaman would give you alot of flexibility in terms of spot heals etc.

no one group is going to clear the mobs heading up to the Zek brothers. Most of them either: split into two upon death, do an 800AE every few seconds, or proc the knockback that also dispells first slot. The mob that drops this is pretty much the same as the other mobs you will clear on the way up.

It's a nice item but most people that are in tactics are most likely wearing something equivalent or better. Like most of PoP droppable loot so far, everything that is droppable is fairly trivial since the guilds that are doing such encounters are better equipped. Gratz guild bank.

I don't want to spoil the encounter, because a large part of these flagged zones is discovering it. Seriously, discovery brings alot of fun back to EQ and at this point, alot of lvl 65 players are rediscovering the fun of the game.

I will however give some tips. Resists help, but only if they're insanely high. Otherwise don't bother and just get lots of HP. Likely, if you're seeing this fellow, his buddy is with him. From a cleric standpoint, Throw an early Supernal Elixer on whoever is MA.)

Oh, and I agree with you, not everyone in every guild is tweaked up, so even this piece could be a significant upgrade.

Good luck sir.
